Chapter 4 - The first battle

Stepping into Xiyuan Street

Jay left Ghost Clash Street and continued walking forward, entering a brand new street.

This place was called Xiyuan Street, connected to Ghost Clash Street.

Although the air here was also filled with a heavy atmosphere, the number of evil spirits was much fewer than on Ghost Clash Street.

The buildings on both sides of the street were still old and dilapidated, and the wind carried the scent of long-forgotten decay.

But here, Jay's steps felt especially determined.

He crossed a broken stone road, frowning slightly as he sensed that the atmosphere around him was somewhat different.

Xiyuan Street was not as filled with the violent aura of evil spirits as Ghost Clash Street, yet there was a kind of indescribable oppressive feeling in the air.

This sense of pressure was the kind of alertness that only strong individuals in the Spirit Realm could sense.

"Something feels off..." Jay murmured to himself.

Suddenly, from the shadows of the street, dozens of evil spirits surged from all directions. Their faces were twisted in anger, their eyes filled with hatred and bloodlust. Their sharp claws and teeth were chilling to the bone. Their movements were crooked and distorted, as though they had crawled out of hell. The air grew heavier with deathly energy, and the growls of the evil spirits sent waves of fear through the atmosphere.

Jay's lips curled into a faint smile, but there was no trace of fear in his eyes. He stood still, watching the evil spirits charge toward him, sneering, "Nice greeting, but I prefer to go straight to the main course!"

As his words fell, he gripped the Fengtian Halberd, his spiritual power surging around him. Lightning began to gather on the halberd, and in an instant, the immense power of thunder surged wildly, swirling like a thunderous serpent. Without hesitation, Jay unleashed the Thunder Flash Curse.

---

Release of the Thunder Flash Curse

"Thunder Flash Curse!"

Jay swung his hand violently, and the tip of the Fengtian Halberd released a violent burst of electric light. The air exploded with a deafening crack of thunder as lightning cascaded like a waterfall, instantly enveloping the surrounding evil spirits. The force of the thunder tore through the darkness, wrapping all the evil spirits within it.

The evil spirits' bodies convulsed violently as the lightning struck them. Their spiritual forms were scorched like paper by the current, emitting horrific screams. Each strike was accompanied by thunder and lightning, illuminating the dark corners of West Era Street.

However, the number of evil spirits was enormous, and some of the stronger ones managed to withstand the thunderstrike. They were not completely destroyed and instead became even more frantic, charging toward Jay, attempting to tear his body apart with their sharp claws.

Jay coldly watched those that continued to struggle, raising the Fengtian Halberd again to meet the next wave of attacks.

---

After being hit by the Thunder Flash Curse, some of the evil spirits turned to ash, but several fierce ones still lunged toward Jay. Their eyes glinted with endless greed and hatred, and their claws shimmered with toxic energy, seemingly intending to tear Jay into pieces.

However, a cold gleam flashed in Jay's eyes. He quickly swung the Fengtian Halberd. His movements were as fast as lightning, with thunder constantly swirling around the halberd. Every strike sent out a powerful shockwave of lightning. Before the evil spirits could get close, they were struck by the electricity, instantly exploding into piles of ash, leaving no trace behind.

"You lowly evil spirits aren't even worth a snack for me!" Jay sneered, his eyes showing no mercy.

With the continued outburst of the Thunder Flash Curse, fewer and fewer evil spirits remained. Only a few were still struggling, but they appeared weak and feeble.

Jay was finishing off the last batch of evil spirits on West Era Street, his Fengtian Halberd flashing with lightning, the power of the Thunder Flash Curse relentlessly consuming the enemies' spiritual energy.

The street was nearly clear of any remaining evil spirits, and the air was thick with a burnt scent.

However, just as he was about to inspect the battlefield, he suddenly felt a powerful presence approaching.

The sound of hurried footsteps reached his ears, and the air began to distort.

"This presence..." Jay immediately became alert. He quickly turned around, only to see a dark figure slicing through the air, rushing toward him.

In the instant the shadow was about to strike, Jay nimbly sidestepped the attack, narrowly evading the blow.

The shadow landed and revealed a tall figure with a heavy, oppressive aura. Dressed in black robes, the man's face bore a cold sneer. This was the Domain Spirit General of West Era Street—Yu Yuan.

Yu Yuan slowly rose to his feet, a flash of icy killing intent in his eyes.

The corner of his mouth curled into a mocking smile. "Seeking revenge? Or are you tired of living?"

Jay remained unfazed, gripping the Fengtian Halberd with a determined gaze. He knew that Yu Yuan's strength was formidable, but he wasn't about to back down.

"I didn't provoke you, but if you came to kill me, I'll gladly oblige," Jay responded coldly, his tone resolute.

The air was thick with tension, as though a world-shaking battle could erupt at any moment. Yu Yuan's eyes glimmered with icy killing intent. He fixed his gaze on Jay, the corner of his mouth curling into a bloodthirsty smile.

"Looks like you've chosen the hard way," Yu Yuan said coldly, striding forward. "Come forth, Hundred-Eyed Demon! Your feast has arrived!"

As the summoning light intensified, a deep growl emerged from the formation.

A massive figure slowly stepped out of the shadows.

It was a creature covered in black scales, its enormous frame adorned with three horns on its head.

Countless eyes opened and closed on its back, radiating an eerie red glow. Each eye carried a chilling pressure, as if capable of seeing through everything.

Its razor-sharp claws gleamed like blades, and its tail lashed against the ground with a heavy thud.

"This is the Hundred-Eyed Demon, a Beast Spirit! A vicious monster from Japanese legends, known for devouring souls,"

Yu Yuan said with a triumphant sneer.

"Today, you'll die and repent in the depths of hell!"

Faced with such a formidable beast, Jay showed no sign of retreat.

Gripping the Fengtian Halberd, he smirked coldly, his eyes blazing with battle intent.

"Repent? No, it's you who'll be sent to hell!" With those words, his spiritual energy erupted, and he shouted, "Ares!"

In response to Jay's call, the air was suddenly filled with a wild and violent aura.

A golden light descended from the sky, accompanied by the sound of thunder.

A towering figure appeared—a war god clad in golden armor. He held a massive spear in both hands, and blazing flames roared behind him.

His sharp eyes gleamed with unmatched confidence and dominance.

"A Spirit God…" Yu Yuan muttered, his smug expression giving way to one of caution. He knew all too well the might of Spirit Gods, especially this one: Ares, the legendary god of war and destruction.

Ares scanned the Hundred-Eyed Demon with a disdainful snort.

Striking the ground with his massive spear, he unleashed a deafening roar.

"A mere beast dares to challenge me?"

Despite his fear, Yu Yuan refused to back down. He gritted his teeth and sneered, "Hmph, so what if it's a Spirit God? With your mid-Entry-level spiritual power, you think you can stand against me, a Breakthrough-level warrior?

You won't leave here alive! Hundred-Eyed Demon, rip them apart!"

The Hundred-Eyed Demon let out an ear-splitting roar, and its countless eyes began to emit beams of dark light, which shot directly toward Jay and Ares.

Jay moved like the wind, leaping nimbly to avoid the beams, while Ares swung his massive spear, its blade infused with thunder and wind, shattering the dark energy in an instant.

"It seems this battle is inevitable"

Jay murmured, his eyes burning with determination.

Both sides gathered their strength, and the clash was about to begin!
