Chereads / Veyorth: The Journey of 100 Fragments / Chapter 2 - Transmigration

Chapter 2 - Transmigration

"Wasn't I dead?" This was Indra's first thought as he awoke, disoriented and bewildered

He looked around to find himself in the midst of a vast jungle. He was lying amidst what appeared to be a bush, but as he tried to move, an intense, needle-like pain surged through his body, leaving him paralyzed momentarily.

Moving his head cautiously, Indra realized something startling: he wasn't lying on a bush. Instead, he was perched on the branch of an enormous tree, its height so staggering that clouds hovered below him. Shock and confusion overtook him as he clutched the branch tightly to steady himself.

Before he could process his predicament, a flood of memories invaded his mind, like an uncontrollable torrent. Clasping his head in agony, Indra let out a piercing scream that sent birds scattering from the surrounding treetops.

An hour later, after the pain subsided and the chaotic memories settled, Indra began to comprehend his situation. He had been reborn into a world called Veyorth, a realm vastly different from Earth. This world was enriched by a mysterious energy called Aurenith, a force akin to magic but distinct in its nature.

The inhabitants of Veyorth who could wield this energy were collectively referred to as Aurenithals. These individuals were categorized into various specialized branches based on how they harnessed Aurenith:

Illustrae: Masters of healing, enlightenment, and knowledge. Respected and revered, they pursued ultimate resonance, often detaching from worldly desires.

Vaelrins: Warriors who used Aurenith to enhance their physical strength, serving as the backbone of Veyorth's armies.

Arcyniths: Spell casters who channeled Aurenith into powerful, ranged spells, shaping the energy with precision and attribute.

Nythraels: Stealthy assassins blending into their surroundings, using weapons enhanced by Aurenith for lethal attacks.

Sylvarons: Archers who imbued their arrows with unique effects, achieving remarkable precision and devastation.

Aegisthals: Defensive specialists who fortified their bodies with Aurenith, creating nearly impenetrable shields.

Veyorth's history spanned millennia, steeped in intrigue and transformation. According to ancient lore, the world resembled Earth until approximately 5,000 years ago, when a group of seven enigmatic beings descended upon it, their bodies bearing grievous injuries.

The arrival of these beings triggered an extraordinary phenomenon. Veyorth's magnetic field underwent dramatic changes, pulling in asteroids from the surrounding space. In just a decade, the planet expanded to a thousand times its original size. Cosmic energy flowed into the planet, reshaping it profoundly.

The beings, later called the Othrevenants, eventually awakened and began teaching the native people how to harness this energy. The natives absorbed it with astonishing efficiency, tempering the entire planet in the process. Over generations, Veyorth's inhabitants evolved into natural vessels for Aurenith, growing increasingly adept at wielding its power.

Initially, harmony prevailed, as the Othrevenants guided the people of Veyorth. However, jealousy and fear soon consumed the group. Alarmed by the rapid advancements of the natives, they sought to understand why these people were far superior in utilizing Aurenith.

Conflict was inevitable. A brutal battle erupted but lasted only a day. The Othrevenants were defeated and imprisoned, yet they managed to send a signal to their home planet before their capture. Despite this looming threat, the natives of Veyorth flourished, devising new branches of Aurenithal specialization and continually refining its use.

A thousand years later, Veyorth thrived as a prosperous and harmonious world. Its growth was guided by an unseen force—the Will of Veyorth—which subtly controlled conflicts and ensured stability. The planet itself had become sentient, tempering both energy and resources for the benefit of its inhabitants.

However, the tranquility shattered when the home planet of the Othrevenants launched a sudden attack. Though Veyorth's people were powerful, they were unprepared for the invaders' unconventional tactics. At a critical moment, Veyorth's Will awakened and, using a forbidden technique, fragmented the planet into 100 pieces scattered across time and space.

Four millennia passed, and 86 fragments of Veyorth had been recovered and fused. Fourteen pieces remained elusive, and the quest to reunite them continued. To aid in this endeavor, Veyorth granted its people a communication channel, a status window, and blessings to those destined to play pivotal roles.

Among these chosen individuals was Indra, now known as Reven in this world. Reven possessed a rare blessing called Negate, which allowed him to nullify all forms of energy. However, this blessing came with a curse: its uncontrollable nature brought devastation to those around him. Unable to bear the tragedies he inadvertently caused, Reven exiled himself to the Dome of Annihilation, a chaotic jungle teeming with primitive, turbulent energy.

Unlike Aurenith, this chaotic energy was untempered and volatile. Veyorth's Will had meticulously tempered Aurenith over centuries, making it more adaptable to its inhabitants. This tempering was the secret behind the younger generation's enhanced efficiency in wielding the energy.

However, the scattering of Veyorth disrupted this process. While the planet continued tempering energy, it could no longer alter the genetic makeup of its inhabitants. This imbalance forced people to modify their bodies artificially to withstand the evolving energies.

Reven's Negate blessing, which rejected all energy, was both a curse and a blessing. It rendered him immune to the chaos energy of the jungle but also made him an anomaly among the people of Veyorth, whose very survival depended on energy.

The truth of Reven's existence was more complex than it seemed. He hadn't truly died; instead, he had been swallowed by a chaotic pool of energy. At the brink of death, Veyorth's Will connected to his consciousness, an unprecedented event. Unable to sustain the connection, Veyorth merged Indra's soul with Reven's body and its own fragmented Will.

This fusion resulted in a being with three consciousnesses: Indra's, Reven's, and Veyorth's Will. Indra's consciousness became dominant, guiding the combined entity.

As a result of this union, Reven gained two additional blessings:

Absolute Thinking: Indra's ability to instantly learn, analyze, and optimize anything he perceived, refining it to its highest potential.

Energy Conserve: Veyorth's ability to harness all energies in the environment, avoiding imbalances and granting infinite energy at the cost of having none within himself.

Reven's body now existed as a conduit for the world's energy, dispersing it rather than storing it. He had become one with Veyorth itself, a living embodiment of its Will.

Thus, Reven's journey began—not just to survive, but to piece together the fragmented Veyorth and restore balance to a world teetering on the edge of chaos.
