Chereads / White Star: Convergence / Chapter 10 - Wake up call

Chapter 10 - Wake up call

'Where the f*** am I now! How long have I even been asleep at this point! Actually… am I even dreaming at this point?'

After this though he realized something even though his eyes were open it was still just black.

'Wait.. is that how I f**king died!'

But then he felt his feet feet touch the ground.

"Oh I'm on the ground. Oh I just spoke!"

Then he looked around him it was still all black but then it was like his eyes were opened again. It was a strange sensation but he was now in a meadow but it was awful. Not the meadow no the meadow was fine it was his mind, it felt like there was something crawling in there muttering and whispering to him.

He was screaming and cursing on the ground writhing around in the grass.

"Shut the hell up! God!"

But the whispers stayed getting louder and louder but still completely insensible.

After what felt like an eternity of losing his mind with only the sounds of whatever was muttering and his screams he finally woke up in a cold sweat though before he did wake up he heard something that he was able to discern amount the whispers.

"Dream, for once the dreaming fades, so too shall that which you cherish most."

"Swallowed by the roses of eternal rest"

"For which you cherished most shall rise once more plagued by another, no longer yours."

He looked around the the wooden cube that was now their home.

"God I hate this place" he muttered under his breath before his eyes fell upon the bed next to his where Dahlia layed in rest.

He got out of bed and went to the large window seeing it covered he took down the covers.

Standing on the red fluffy carpet below his feet, he peered out the window looking at the moon.

The snowy forest was as bleak gloomy looking as always and from what he could see they were headed towards mountains.

Talking to himself in the dark like a maniac or maybe just an idiot he spoke:

"Wonder how far we out we are from our spawn"

his eyes were dreary as a dream like that doesn't really make for good nights rest plus it seems it was still night so it he probably didn't sleep much and his watch has broken against feathers so there was no way for him to tell and like hell he was making another one the first one one costed way too much. apparently watches were suprisingly complex.

'The moon is falling under the horizon probably another hour or so'

Then he heard Dahlia's voice ring out.

"Spawn?"

She yawned before continuing with her mockery.

"You really calling the place we randomly got placed "spawn" really?"

Looking back at her from the window he was going to retaliate but came blank.

So instead with a sigh he accepted defeat.

"Hey ima need some more energy to keep Boris running"

Dahlia got up from the bed and made her way over in her ragged clothes but to be fair his were far more ragged.

"Yeah yeah how much you need."

He thought about it for a bit as Boris didn't really take too much along as he didn't drop below like 17% he should be fine and if he was on max he can keep him up and running for maybe around 27 hours?

"I'll tell you when to stop."

With that Dahlia grabbed onto arm and started to dump her energy into him.

'It feels warm… but why is she pouring so little though?'

"Hey pour some more."

Dahlia looked at him with a shocked expression before stammering in her next words.

"M- More? But I've already poured out more than a third of my energy.."

'Huh? But I've only regained like 8% of my energy though? If that's true I can only keep Boris going for another maybe 11 hours'

He pondered why Dahlia seemed to be giving him so little when she is pouring out so much he at first thought that perhaps she can't transfer all of it but that didn't make sense. Then he came to conclusion rather quickly after regaining up 12% of his energy he realized that he simply had a far higher capacity than her.

"That's good for now."

Now panting she let go of his arm fell on the floor.

"You glutton! That was more then two thirds of my energy!"

Helping her back up they sat on the "couch" it wasn't really one because when he made it he was trying to preserve energy but it functioned fine and was quite comfy.

Dahlia who was now eating some of their rations to regain energy asked the question on both of their minds:

"Do you think we will find people.. like actual like in a group with homes and warm running water?"

Azadi remained silent on the couch for a while before he replied:

"I truly hope so… I really do."

He did not bring up the "dream" he had to her and honestly would rather forget that harrowing experience.

They were both wrapped up in blankets on the couch staring blankly through the window watching the moon delve under the horizon slowly yet surely.

Till the moon had officially retreated and the sun had fared them their welcome.

Now the new day had truly begun.
