Chapter 1 - Jiko chuu

On the planet Jupiter stood a temple enshrouded in darkness. The darkness was so murky that there was an absence of shadows.

Deep within the almost abyss-like temple sat a being on an entropian stone chair, in front of an ominous table. He wore black robes, his face obscured by a black hood. He sat there in absolute tranquility.

But in the following moment, his neck sprang to a 180-degree angle upwards. His eyes pulsed with dark red light, and an outstretched grin spread across his face. He touched his face as if embracing his lover, and with a voice dripping with harrowing madness, he whispered, "It seems... he's here."

BOOOM!

A massive sonic boom ruptured, followed by a terrifying sword strike. It seemed as though the apocalypse had come.

The dark being within the temple said, as he gouged out his eyes, "He is finally here." But he couldn't maintain his masochism, for in front of him stood a man of tall stature, well-developed muscles even beneath his clothing. Adorning him was a seemingly moon-like katana. He was draped in a white hanfu adorned with blue stripes. The being's expression bore a resemblance to pity.

The being sighed. "Corvus, your desire for attention has led you down the path of corruption," he said, as he placed his hands on his scabbard. Corvus, the being in black, seemingly transformed into a fit of rage, spitting all across the ominous table.

"Lucian, you have become indifferent. Without me, your pathetic race would have never escaped the shadows of the lunar people."

Lucian sighed and closed his eyes as he took a seat. "My race is of no concern to you, Corvus." The oppressive hall turned still. After ten minutes of silence, Corvus took his seat as well.

Corvus, sitting in his jet-black chair, stared daggers at Lucian. After what seemed like forever, Lucian opened his eyes and said, "They are here." Corvus simply gritted his teeth and turned his gaze to his right. Instantaneously, six beings appeared in the murky hall. Their appearance was the opposite of the oppressive hall; it looked as if they had come out of a fairy tale, all of them draped in hanfus. After glaring at Corvus for a while, they took their seats.

All six beings were the respective rulers of their planets: Mayar, the Golem of Mercury; Keysha, the Bow of Mars; Lyra, the Shaman of Venus; Astrael, the Wise of Saturn; Valen, the Dragon of Neptune; Nyx, the Chain of Uranus. With the addition of Lucian, the Impartial of Earth, and Corvus, the Abyss of Jupiter, they made a total of eight monarchs of the solar system.

The atmosphere in the hall could be cut with a bread knife. The one to break the silence was Mayar, the Golem. "Lucian, why did you call us to this meeting?" Lucian broke his tranquil expression as he said, "I have called you here on the suspicion that Corvus has fallen to corruption."

Everyone gathered grew alarmed. This was not an event that happened often. Falling to corruption means an individual succumbs to madness or is consumed by negative emotions, such as the seven mortal sins: envy, gluttony, pride, wrath, sloth, greed, and lust.

Falling to corruption is common in the lower ranks, but in the ranks of the monarchs, it is an event that hasn't happened in aeons.

Corvus bit his lip ruthlessly, his own teeth starting to break. Blood began to drip down onto his black garments. His wrath was colossal, but Lucian simply stared him down, which made Corvus shout at the top of his lungs, "Lucian, you ungrateful bastard! I got rid of the lunar people for you, and you accuse me of falling to corruption!" Lucian looked at him with regret. "Corvus, I didn't ask you to do that," he said.

Corvus nearly jumped onto the humongous black table, but he opted to spit at Lucian. Lucian simply turned his head to avoid the spitball.

Corvus stood up and pointed at him. "Lucian, you're a failure of a monarch! How can there be two races coexisting on a planet? The sole purpose of a monarch is to lead their race to the absolute top and kill every opposition!" Corvus shouted.

Lucian rebuked, "Opposition, you say? The lunar people weren't opposition. You killed innocent people, Corvus."

Corvus simply stared at him, clear malice in his eyes. Corvus didn't know that the next thing he would say would lead him to embrace death. "Lucian, how about your wife? Your daughter? The lunar people ra*ed your wife and killed your daughter, and you say here they weren't the opposition? Your... path..." To the other monarchs, it looked as if Corvus was talking, then suddenly held his neck. Red blood splattered all over the pillars of the temple and the humongous table.

The monarchs didn't know how to react. They just stared dumbfounded at the scene in front of them. While they were flabbergasted, Corvus was still trying to stop the blood from gushing out. Yet, he couldn't stop the blood. If it were a normal strike, he would simply regenerate, but this was a strike from a god, a god of the sword. Still, it would take a long time before Corvus would die from blood loss.

Lucian nonchalantly stared at him, his eyes still showing pity. While walking closer, Lucian took out his katana. The others just watched, as intervening would be akin to interrupting Earth's business. Corvus was kneeling on the floor, trying to stop the blood flow. In his peripheral vision, he saw Lucian walking closer to him, panic filling his eyes. As he was dying from blood loss, his power of darkness diminished.

What could be seen were burns all over the right side of his face, and on the left, maggots squirmed beneath his skin. "Lucian, you're pathetic. You let the lunar people kill your daughter," he said. Lucian just walked closer and closer until he was one step away from him. Corvus looked up at him. Lucian lifted his katana.

"In loneliness, you were born; in death, you shall remain."

The katana came crashing down like an executioner's sword. Corvus's blood showered Lucian's face, and the ground became a puddle of blood. Lucian, with an expression of neutrality, looked back at the shaken monarchs. "Now, onto the next topic of discussion," he said. "I should clean this up."

From seemingly nowhere, a cube appeared in Lucian's hands. The cube started to suck Corvus's corpse into a strange small hole, and in mere moments, Corvus's corpse vanished.

Astrael called out in an enchanting voice, "Lucian."

Lucian answered in a nonchalant tone, "Yes?"

Astrael said while he wiped his sweat off,''its great that you have killed a corruptor but there is an empty spot for the monarch of jupiter and you know how bad it is if a planet is left without a monarch for too long''

Lucian said still covered in blood,''i know thats why im going to get the vacant spot,on earth the lunar people are dead which leaves earth to be dominated by humans so i need u to pour mana into the atmosphere''

Astrael rolled his eyes at the burden but nodded,''Fine. Are the rest of you in agreement?"

the other monarchs said,''we agree with that''

Lucian sheathed his katana and declared, "The meeting is officially over."

The other monarchs quickly departed. Alone once more, Lucian cleansed the blood from his body, seated himself in the corner of the murky temple, and began meditating. He would remain motionless until Jupiter's energy was restored.
