Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Pighead Tonpo

Therefore, the safety of delivery workers when delivering packages to the Animal People District cannot be guaranteed.

In the Animal People District, delivery workers often face intimidation, extortion, robbery, and beatings. In most cases, they are left with no choice but to swallow their anger and accept their misfortune.

If a rare monster-type human is encountered, it's even worse. Animal people are seen as uneducated and violent by regular humans, while monster-type humans are viewed as even more sinister and eerie. They're like the demonic creatures or mummies from comic books, often considered outcasts by ordinary humans. People tend to avoid these individuals whenever possible.

Some scholars have theorized that the ancestors of the monster-type humans were linked to hellish demons, inheriting a bloodline tainted with original sin, which made them symbols of bad omens. Of course, modern Earthlings tend to dismiss such ideas as nonsense meant to stir up drama, but these theories do serve as handy talking points when dissing minority groups like monster-type humans.

However, Sato Yamiru, who understood that the Dragon Ball world was far from simple, didn't think it was entirely out of the question that monster-type humans had demonic ancestors.

After all, there was still a green-skinned immortal living in the sky of Earth! It wasn't entirely impossible for demons to have existed in history.

"Another batch of packages for the Animal People District..."

Yamiru picked up a portion of the packages from Warehouse 2.

He wasn't sure if it was due to his recent performance at work, but he noticed that most of the packages assigned to him were for delivery to the Animal People District.

Recalling the Animal People District made Yamiru remember something.

Yesterday, while making a delivery, a pig-headed thug in the district had tried to extort him, but ended up getting beaten instead.

Before leaving, the disheveled pig-head had sworn to find a ruthless friend to deal with Yamiru, daring him to come back the next day.

A ruthless big brother... Could it be a large wild boar animal person? Yamiru wondered.

"Well, what can you do? It's just because you're so capable, Yamiru."

His colleague, who had a dog-like face, flattered him. "More capable people like you end up doing more work. The Animal People District deliveries are all yours now."

Usually, delivery workers for this kind of company were towering, imposing animal-type humans, like bear-men, snow wolf-men, or mastiff-dogs. Their physical presence alone was enough to deter the thuggish animal-persons in the district. Plus, animal people were often paid less, so it wasn't uncommon for them to be assigned jobs like this.

If it weren't for Yamiru's exceptional skills—having never had a work-related injury and with every package delivered intact—no one would have let him take on such a job.

The pair of leopard brothers who took over Yamiru's late shift once commented that, even if they teamed up, they still wouldn't be a match for Yamiru in a fight.

Yamiru, despite looking like a slim and weak kid, could knock out even the most formidable opponents with a single punch, which was pretty damn impressive.

However, he was mostly immune to such compliments.

Come on, what was there to be proud of? Being praised by a few weak Earthlings—what's so impressive about that? Being a big fish in a small pond? That gave him no sense of achievement. Here he was, in the Dragon Ball world, trying to find significance among ordinary Earthlings. The irony made Yamiru want to laugh. When it came to self-awareness, Yamiru's mindset was probably more grounded than anyone else's on Earth.

"Next up in the ring is…" A voice came from the small TV in the duty station, sounding chaotic as though it was from a crowded event, likely some kind of competition.

Yamiru glanced at the screen, which showed a muscular man, about seven feet tall, stepping into a luxurious ring. Across from him was a young man with a body as solid as black steel.

"I'm just casually looking…" His colleague, who had a dog-like face, thought Yamiru had just caught him slacking off.

"What's this competition?" Yamiru asked out of curiosity.

"It's the Professional Fighting League. They broadcast it every year," the colleague explained. "By the way, we even have a local tournament in South City. Someone like you could probably sign up and give it a try."

"Not at all, I'm just a weakling," Yamiru downplayed, then shifted the topic. "Isn't there the a World Martial Arts Tournament? What's this Professional Fighting League like…"

"The World Martial Arts Tournament is kind of disorganized," his colleague explained. "The participants are often unknowns, and the professional fighters do not recognize those who call themselves martial artists. The tournament's just a bunch of small circles of people fighting among themselves for meager prizes. But the Professional Fighting League is different. It's much more legitimate, with real professional fighters who can even become household names!"

'Shut up, you shameless old dog!' Yamiru rolled his eyes. The World Martial Arts Tournament isn't organized? The competitors are nobodies? These so-called martial artists are just hobbyists? Yamiru was starting to get irritated.

Also, this sort of condescending attitude sounded very familiar…

Could this Satan character from the original story actually have come from the so-called Professional Fighting League? That would explain why he became the so-called "world champion." But didn't Satan win the World Martial Arts Tournament?

"Oh, right, that sounds impressive…" Yamiru replied half-heartedly, signaling his colleague to stop talking. "I'm going back to work. See you."

With that, he grabbed a cartload of packages and quickly left. He wasn't interested in the Professional Fighting League; the World Martial Arts Tournament was where his childhood memories lay.

Once outside the company's roll-up door, Yamiru pulled out a transformation capsule assigned by the company from under his work clothes. He pressed it with a click, threw it onto the ground, and boom, a puff of harmless smoke spread out, revealing a small delivery truck.

"Too bad, even the cheapest transformation capsules cost a fortune... I can't afford one," Yamiru couldn't help but think, feeling envious. "Bulma's family really is loaded."

Yamiru easily lifted each heavy package from the trailer and tossed them into the back of the truck, then climbed into the driver's seat.

Thankfully, transportation on Dragon Ball Earth was designed in such a way that even though Yamiru was a bit small, he had no trouble operating the vehicle.

"Another workday in a completely different style than the one I had in my previous life," Yamiru muttered, resting his elbow on the car window, humming the melody of a song from his past life that he still remembered.

The wind in south City was a little warm, and the streets were a bit noisy. Suddenly, Yamiru remembered the odd old man he had encountered earlier in the morning. Those two coins were still in his pocket.

Heads, just keep living the same way. Tails, don't think too much, head out to the sea and find Master Roshi to train... Was it heads or tails in the coin toss this morning at the park? Yamiru thought idly.

Before long, he reached the streets of the Animal People District.

The faces of ordinary humans became less frequent, replaced by more animal-like humans such as giraffe people and crocodile people, as though he had entered a zoo... Two minotaur-like creatures, standing as tall as Yamiru's small truck, stood at a street corner, glaring at the truck as it passed. Yamiru ignored them, maintaining a steady pace.

"Door 13, Door 77…" Yamiru glanced at the package list, making deliveries one by one.

Bang!

He parked the truck and easily jumped onto the pile of packages in the back, which were stacked as high as a small mountain. Yamiru picked up a package larger than his own body and balanced it on his shoulder, grunting with effort. It was heavy, and even he could feel the strain as he jumped off the truck, landing with a dull thud.

He bent his knees slightly before walking to the door of the destination house, dropping the large package with another loud.

Thud.

At the street corner, the two massive minotaurs who had been following the truck watched in shock, their jaws dropping in unison. That short kid had that much strength?! Their eyes nearly popped out. After a moment of thought, they decided it was too hot today to rob anyone and walked off as if nothing had happened.

Yamiru made several more deliveries, circling several streets in the Animal People District, but he didn't encounter the pig-headed thug who had threatened him the day before.

"Didn't he say he'd be waiting? Should've shown up today…" Yamiru muttered as he drove.

Meanwhile, in a nearby alley, a five-meter-tall, long-haired gorilla-like animal person crouched against a wall, as if hiding from someone. He sniffed quietly, his eyes filled with anger.

"Didn't expect that brat to have that much strength. No wonder he beat me so badly yesterday! Even those two minotaur bullies at the street corner didn't dare touch him... Looks like my transformation magic can't scare him off. Good thing I didn't go out earlier..."

Bang! The gorilla-like creature transformed into a short pig-headed thug, with a pig's nose and ears, looking somewhat silly and scared, despite the fear still lingering on his face.
