"Where am I... Who am I?" a young man asked no one in particular. His green eyes opened groggily, his head stinging with pain. He looked down at his hands with a look of distant unfamiliarity, focusing mainly on a long scar along his right forearm, a mix of fear and curiosity building slowly inside him. The only hint to his identity is a sticker on his chest with a single number, "132". "Well, I guess that's supposed to be me." he says, claiming himself to be "132."
He looks around the environment, his head buzzing with questions about who he is, where he is, and how he got there. The walls around him were a cold, metallic silver, with no seams or gaps to see out of. The fluorescent lights on the ceiling gave the room a cold, distant feeling; however, this only seemed to give 132 a sense of familiarity and comfort. Getting up from the corner of the room he found himself lying in, he rubbed his hands along the walls, a strange sense of Deja vu encompassing his every action, as if he'd done it countless times before.
Looking at one of the room's walls, his eyes luckily catch the outline of a square in the wall opposite him, standing out from the three others. Warily, the man walks up to it and inspects it, trying to decipher why it was placed there while the rest of the room is untouched, hoping it could give him a clue as to why he was there. Looking at the square indent, He presses it inwards, causing the square to slide out like a cupboard, its contents only containing a five-letter cryptex and a letter, the note reading: "My absence is sure to cause a fright, and paths without me indicate danger and plight, I can lead to both blindness and sight, what am I." Taking a moment to think over what the note could mean, 132 goes through countless possibilities for what the answer could be at a nearly inhuman rate before landing on a five-letter answer that fits the riddle. "Light." He says out loud, speaking faster than he can think, surprising himself with the speed and accuracy of his answer, seemingly shocked by this new-found intelligence. Placing this answer into the cryptex, it opens, revealing what seems to be a flashlight, and at the same time, the lights in the room turn off.
Turning on his flashlight, he discovers it to be a blacklight, and after using it on the wall beside where he woke up, he discovers several arrows, not seeable with the naked eye, pointing to one point in the wall. Following the arrows, 132 places his hand and presses, finding that point in the wall to be a button. Pressing it, A part of the wall slides open, revealing a small room with mirrors on all three sides, a dim orange light brightening the room with a warm glow, giving the room a comforting feeling. But for 132, This room, which 132 identifies as an elevator, gives him an extremely frightening feeling. "CHALLENGE ONE COMPLETED!" A mechanical voice screams out, which would cause anyone to flinch, but with 132 standing still, one would think he knew it would happen. Walking into the elevator, he pressed a button labeled 2, determined to continue searching for answers and face whatever "challenges" lay ahead.
