Lyra's POV
I woke up to the smell of food wafting through the room, and when I opened my eyes, Kael was there, a tray in his hands and a small smile on his face.
"Good morning, sleepyhead," he said, setting the tray on the bedside table.
"Breakfast in bed for the Alpha's soul mate."
I rolled my eyes and sat up, wincing slightly at the soreness still lingering in my body. Kael was immediately at my side, helping me adjust.
"I'm much better now," I assured him. "I feel fine."
"You always say so," he teased, his voice laced with mock disbelief. "You could be on the verge of passing out, and you'd still tell me you're fine."
"That's because I am fine," I shot back with a small smile.
He raised an eyebrow.
"And yet, here you are, needing me to hold you up just to sit straight."
"Don't flatter yourself. I could've managed just fine without your help." I said, smirking.
