Lyra's POV
The ride to school had been eventful, but I was glad to finally step out of the car and breathe in the cool morning air. Ava looped her arm through mine as we walked toward the building, chatting about everything and nothing. Kael and Kellan stayed a few steps behind us, their gazes scanning the surroundings like hawks.
We entered the classroom, the noise of chattering students filling the air. Ava and I slid into seats near the middle, and I could feel the curious eyes of my classmates on us. Their whispers didn't bother me; I was used to it by now. Ava, however, gave them all a pointed glare, daring anyone to say something.
The teacher walked in shortly after, and the room fell into a hushed silence. She was a tall woman with a stern expression, her sharp heels clicking against the floor as she made her way to the front. She adjusted her glasses and began writing on the board.
"Today, we'll be covering…"
