Chereads / Beastlord: Tribal System / Chapter 13 - Exploring the System

Chapter 13 - Exploring the System

As soon as the system responded, a translucent interface appeared before Meng Yuqing.

The previously locked modules were now fully accessible, with an additional feature: a Void Space for Energy Storage. The space was currently empty, save for wisps of mist-like energy drifting occasionally.

"This space stores energy accessible to the host. When energy is earned, the system will allocate a portion to this space for your free use. There is no storage limit, and energy can be applied in various ways. Please actively contribute to the tribe's development," the system explained.

Recalling the system's energy use to conceal him in the cave previously, Meng Yuqing realized this void space could be a practical tool for energy management. Despite the space appearing mostly empty, he noticed a faint trace of energy—likely what remained after repaying his earlier energy debt, earned through two hidden tasks he had completed.

Satisfied with this understanding, Meng Yuqing turned his attention to the six primary modules.

Exploration and Identification Adjustments

The functionalities for Exploration and Identification had been slightly tweaked:

•Exploration: Range expanded to 50 meters, available 1/1 per day, with a cooldown of 24 hours. Continuous use up to 20 minutes.

•Identification: Remained at 3/3 uses per five-day cooldown.

The Warehouse Module

Meng Yuqing's gaze landed on the Warehouse module, and his excitement grew. Isn't this essentially portable storage?

Opening it, he received an impression of a 3m x 3m x 3m space, along with its key rules:

1.No living creatures could be stored.

2.Items stored within would be frozen in time.

Eager to test it, Meng Yuqing focused on a piece of animal hide on the stone bed and thought, "Store." The hide disappeared instantly, reappearing in the warehouse. His eyes lit up as he commanded, "Retrieve," and the hide returned to his lap.

Further experimentation revealed he could specify retrieval locations. For instance, when he directed the hide to appear in the corner of the bed, it obeyed seamlessly. His experiments confirmed:

•Storage and retrieval worked within a 1-meter radius around him.

•He could precisely control placement.

"This is by far the most practical feature!" Meng Yuqing marveled. Exploration's limited range and identification's restricted uses felt far less impactful in comparison.

The Store

Next, Meng Yuqing opened the Store, which featured three categories:

1.Finished Products: Ready-to-use items with the highest energy cost.

2.Blueprints: Schematics for crafting items, requiring fewer resources but demanding effort to assemble.

3.Materials: Raw components for crafting.

Finished products were tempting but came with prohibitive energy costs. Meng Yuqing closed the Store with a sigh, noting that anything affordable could likely be crafted manually, such as the toothbrush he already planned to create.

The Encyclopedia

Opening the Encyclopedia module was a delightful surprise. It consisted of two sections:

1.Search: This connected to the modern world's knowledge database, akin to an advanced search engine. It allowed access to vast information but could not facilitate real-time communication with his original world. Usage consumed energy, with longer sessions depleting more.

2.Beast World Database: A comprehensive catalog of all known life forms and phenomena in this world.

The Encyclopedia gave him hope—proof that the system could connect to his homeworld. While the Beast World Database was exhaustive, Meng Yuqing realized reading through it entirely could take years. Instead, he resolved to use it alongside the Identification module for efficiency.

The Character Module

Curious about the Character module, Meng Yuqing selected it. The system prompted:

"Specify a target to scan and receive a detailed report of their physical state."

He decided to test it on himself. After selecting his own profile, the module responded:

Meng Yuqing

•Age: 22

•Species: Human Male

•Health Status:

•Healthy (relative to his original world's humans)

•Not optimal (relative to this world's sub-beasts)

•Conditions: Fatigue-induced hypersomnia, no other ailments.

Meng Yuqing exhaled sharply. "With this feature, I can diagnose anyone's physical condition in seconds. This could save countless lives if I have the right herbs to treat illnesses. It'll be invaluable for the tribe's development."

His excitement subsided as he calmed his racing thoughts and turned his attention to the Mission Panel.

Mission Panel

The panel overview displayed:

•Main Quest: Develop the Qingshan Tribe (Ongoing)

•Reward for Next Level: A mysterious landscape map.

•Details: Unlock its purpose by progressing the system.

•Random Quests: None triggered yet.

•Hidden Quests: Accessible only upon completion.

•Note: Completed tasks with sustained positive impact on development may yield continuous energy gains without system notification.

•Current Rating: Not yet assessed.

•Suggested Focus: Everything is just beginning. Please take initiative.

Meng Yuqing chuckled softly at the suggestion. "I'll definitely take initiative. After all, it's not just for me, but for everyone here."
