Chereads / Mr. Kang's Perfect World / Chapter 2 - First Impressions

Chapter 2 - First Impressions

Yoon Ha-rin stepped into Kang Hyun-woo's imposing villa with a mix of fear and excitement. At 27, this was her first serious job since losing her position at the salon. She couldn't believe she would be working as a house cleaner in the home of such a powerful man. She had always loved challenges, but this was something entirely new.

"I just need to get through today. Just one day, and it will get easier," she muttered to herself, gripping the broom in her hand. She tried to ignore the massive silver doors that closed behind her, as though they were sealing her into a whole new world—a world she didn't belong to.

Hyun-woo was in his office, speaking with business partners via video call. His life was perfectly organized, everything under control, with no room for chaos, and Ha-rin was exactly that—a chaos in the form of a woman. He thought he might have made a mistake by hiring her, but he was too busy with work to worry about it. He had no time for such nonsense.

"Good morning!" she greeted softly, unsure whether to disturb him right away or quietly settle in and start cleaning. Either way, she had no choice but to take the first step.

Hyun-woo raised an eyebrow in surprise. He was surprised that someone so carefree and clumsy would dare step into his world. "Are you ready?" he asked, his voice cold and professional, and his expression was almost like a mask—unapproachable and distant.

Ha-rin felt his gaze, but she didn't let it bother her. "Of course. Just let me get settled in." She added with a smile, although she felt her hands trembling. She sensed the coldness in his tone, and his eyes following her every move made her uncomfortable.

"Everything here is very important, it needs to be in its place," he continued, after noticing her nervousness. "Don't make any mistakes."

Ha-rin nodded, trying to keep her composure. "Don't worry, sir," she replied cheerfully, attempting to show she wasn't the type to panic easily. "I'm here to get it right. You can be sure of that."

Hyun-woo gave a brief nod, his expression unreadable, before turning to retreat back to his room. Ha-rin sighed in relief. "Okay, I'll have a few minutes to get the hang of things," she thought to herself. But soon enough, she realized she wasn't prepared for what was ahead.

She was surprised at how large the house was and how much attention to detail was required. The hallways were filled with various pieces of furniture, paintings on the walls, ornaments, everything in its place. She couldn't help but feel how every little item mattered in his perfect world.

She started cleaning the kitchen, but soon the problems began. She picked up a cloth, but in her clumsiness, she knocked over a vase, causing it to fall to the floor with a crash.

"Again!" she thought nervously, although she didn't want to make too much of it. "It will be fine. I just need to relax," she told herself. But it wasn't so easy, because Hyun-woo was coming from his office, and the irritation in his eyes was clear.

"What's going on here?" he asked, his voice sharp and cold, as if he couldn't understand how she could be so careless.

Ha-rin quickly picked up the broken vase and looked at him with a smile. "Oh, it was just an unfortunate accident. Nothing serious. I'm just... a little clumsy."

"Clumsy? This is a house, not a playground," he replied, not hiding his annoyance.

"Then I guess I'll have to concentrate a little harder. Don't worry about me, I'll get the hang of it," Ha-rin responded cheerfully, awkwardly lifting up a cleaning box. She couldn't help but notice how much his words irritated him even more.

"You need to take this job more seriously," he said, sounding like he was barely keeping his patience.

"Of course," Ha-rin replied, while wiping down a chair, still ducking her head, feeling like the whole situation was a bit ridiculous.

"You can't be serious about this," he continued, his sarcasm slipping into his voice.

"Don't worry. If I break another vase next time, I'll buy you a new one. On my own dime," Ha-rin said with a grin. Even though she was annoyed, she couldn't resist throwing in a bit of humor.

Hyun-woo stared at her in surprise. He had never met anyone so cheeky, and yet so... funny.

"I don't know if that would be in your favor," he replied. "But maybe you're right. Still, don't mess anything else up."
