CHAPTER FIVE | THE NOT SO EMPTY THREAT

ARTHUR

Once Luca is out of sight, Ciara comes into my room, crouching to my still slumped form. "Little stupid Arthur. Tsk…tsk…tsk."

She walks around me in the same manner a predator would walk around its prey before pouncing on it. "You just touched fire and I promise that I'll personally make sure that you get burned to ashes. I warned you to stay away from my man but you turned a deaf ear to my voice. I told you to stay away but you forced yourself right in. I feel kind of bad for you though, you just made your way to the first number on my black list. Siblings or not, I'll make sure you pay for trying to steal my man."

My head bows in defeat, a small tired sigh leaving my mouth. "You have won, Ciara. You have always and always will win. There's no need for the empty threat. Luca doesn't like me. You don't need to threaten me. I'm not even close to being a competition. Please, just leave so I can cry my heart out. There's only so much rejection a poor guy can take without his heart shattering."

"I find it funny the way you think this is all about me winning. Siblings or not, I'll make sure you would never be an option. You'll regret being alive, Brother." She says the last word with so much spite that I almost feel the venom in her words.

I snap my head up, attempting to gauge her reaction to judge if she is being serious or not.

The dark look on her face is all the confirmation I need. Ciara is dead ass serious about everything she said.

With that, she stomps on my leg so hard until I scream out in agony. Satisfied, she smirks and walks out of my room, the only sign that she was here being her strawberry perfume and the click of her heels as she walks away.

A shiver runs through my spine as I recall the expression of pure hatred on her face when she threatened me. In my eighteen years of living, I have never seen that kind of darkness in Ciara's eyes. She looked like she would do anything possible to make sure I never see Luca even by mistake.

Letting out a shaky breath, I help myself up while my mind thinks of the various ways Ciara would try to make my life a living hell.

She wouldn't go too far would she? She's my sister right, she wouldn't physically hurt me, right?

I guess my mother underestimated Ciara's anger. Or maybe, just maybe I am merely jumping into conclusion.

As I lay on my bed, various scenarios of Ciara hurting me plays in my head like a movie.

I say a short prayer that Ciara's anger would have been quenched the next morning as my eyes closes slowly, fading into a nightmare filled slumber.

My prayers aren't answered as the next day, Ciara looks and acts even angrier than she was the day before. She would have ripped my head off during breakfast if not for my mother's interference.

Her rekindled anger confuses me but when I get to school and notice everyone staring, pointing at me, and whispering about me, I know something fishy is going on.

My suspense is killed when Mandy rushes over, taking my hands and dragging me to the janitor's room.

"What the hell, Mandy? You fucking scared me." I hiss, placing my erratically beating chest in my hand.

"You haven't heard, haven't you?"

I frown, screwing my face up in utter confusion. "Heard what? What is going on? Why was everyone staring at me like I'm responsible for their pains and hardships?" I said the last part as a joke, to crack Mandy up and release some of the tension in her body but she doesn't crack a smile, making me realize that whatever the problem is must be really serious.

"What exactly is the problem, Mandy?" I question, my face also turning serious.

"Did you try to blackmail Luca into hooking up with you?"

If I was drinking water or eating anything when she spoke, I would have definitely spit it out in shock. "What!" I yell, my eyes widening dramatically.

"There have been rumours, Arthur. Rumours about you blackmailing Luca Redington to hook up with you. According to the little I overheard, you promised to make him lose his scholarship with your father's connection and wealth if he doesn't come over to your house to fuck you when Ciara isn't around. But on the contrary, you promised to tutor him and help him pass his examination if he sleeps with you. They said Luca agreed in fear of losing his scholarship and going to those fake highschool for poor kids in the west. Apparently, Ciara stopped you before you could force yourself on him."

My mouth opens up and closes like a fish out of water. Saying I'm flabbergasted would be the biggest understatement of the century. Not only am I shocked by the news I heard, I'm also surprised that Luca Redington is a scholarship student. I never knew he isn't super rich like we are.

"That is the most fucking ridiculous baseless rumour I've ever heard in my whole life. Look at Luca, then take a good look at me. Who would be forcing himself on whom if the case was to be true? Luca is basically a muscular giant of a hunk while in here, slim and way shorter than him. How the hell am I supposed to try forcing myself on him." I say, raising my hands up in disbelief.

"I thought so too. I can't believe a rumor like that even if I'm the dumbest person on earth. The only way you can successfully force yourself on Luca is if you drug him which I know you ain't capable of. The rumour is fucking ridiculous." Mandy agrees with me.

"Thank you."

"But you do know the students of this school bring the concept of stupidity to another level. You could tell them rich brats that the best way to shit is through the mouth and they'll blindly believe it as long as you're good-looking, influential and have more money than they do. You know they all worship the ground your sisters work on. She could tell time anything and they'll believe it. She has been tarnishing your image all around campus and some people are extremely furious about it. I think you should avoid most of them for now. You know most students in this school adore Luca and would do anything to protect their star award winning quarterback hunk. I don't want you getting hurt."

Mandy is right. Most people in my school would do anything Ciara says and would do anything to protect Luca. If Ciara asks them to stone me to death, I'm sure they'll blindly do it.

"You are right. I think I'll ditch school today. Hopefully, everything dies down by tomorrow."

With determination, we both leave the janitor's closet with the plan of me ditching school while Mandy stays behind to get as much information as we can.

The minute we come out of the room, we are greeted by officers who were searching for me and were led to the janitor's closet by a student who saw us walk inside.

"Arthur King, I'm officer Lance." He says, showing me his badge. "We received an anonymous tip that you've been the student sel

ling cocaine to the other students of Royal high and we have a search warrant."
