Chapter 15 - The Witch is DEAD

UNKNOWN POV

A group of 3 students snuck into the forest. They're laughing and joking as they make their way through the trees, trying to find a secluded spot where they can relax and enjoy a smoke without them getting caught. They finally sit down on a soft bed of moss ready to enjoy the pleasure of smoking in a forest away from the nosy teachers.

The forest is alive with the sounds of birds singing and leaves rustling in the wind. The students can smell the fresh, earthy scent of the trees and the sweet fragrance of wildflowers. They enjoy the scenery and continue puffing out smokes while they chat animatedly

"Wendy, I can't believe Thorn did that to you" A girl sighed as she puffed out another smoke

"Well, Wendy deserved it, you know." Another girl called Maggie half shrugged as she smoked with her friends.

Wendy glared at Maggie, "Shut up, will ya!"

The third friend, Beth, stood up with smoke in her mouth. "Girls! Guess who spoke to me today!"

"Who?" Wendy asked. Maggie already knowing what her friend will say just chuckled and lay down

"Jackson McRoen."

"What did he say he want?" Wendy asked taking another puff off her smoke.

"Beats me. And you don't mind being his next conquest? That so Beth-ly-like of you."

Beth frowned "You guys, don't say that. He says he just wants to hang out"

Wendy and Maggie knew that Beth was innocent and the fact that Jackson McRoen asked her out, meant only one thing. He only wants to get in her pants. Beth wasn't his type obviously—they meant no offense —Jackson was just a walking disaster.

"Look" Wendy started "We love you so much, Beth. And Jackson, he doesn't want to just hang out with you...You should know him by now. To put it more bluntly—"

"He just wants to fuck you" Maggie completed with a shrug. Taking another cigarette from the pack and lighting it.

Beth's eye shone and Wendy glared at her "Margret!"

"What? You said to put it more bluntly"

"I meant literally. Who am I kidding? I should have known you are blunt yourself"

Beth sighed. "Let's leave that discussion for next time" Even though Beth was innocent when it came to these discussions, she was serious when it came to our jobs "Benny called," she said

"Shit!" Maggie jerked up

"The weapons we stashed away need to be delivered by 5 pm today."

"Darn it, I totally forgot an asshole like Benny existed." Wendy cried

"Let's go get it," Beth said as the other two stood up from the bed of grass, dusting their hands to clear off the dirt.

"This forest is soo quiet" Maggie groaned

"And creepy. But we don't have a choice. We can't let the school know what we are doing"

"Beth is right, We can not get caught."

Then, they hear a rustling sound, like something moving through the leaves. Then followed by twigs snapping

"What was that?" Maggie whispered

"Our shoes are snapping the twigs, Maggie. You know, for someone with a knife for a mouth, you are scared of some snapping twigs and innocent rustling leaves" Wendy snickered

"Hahaha, very funny" Maggie frowned

They hear another rustling in the trees above them, followed by twigs snapping. Realizing they weren't the only ones in the forest, they stopped walking to listen. Was someone following them? Was someone watching them? This was bad.

"This is bad" Wendy whispered

"They should not see the bag," Beth said.

"We should get away from here, now!" Maggie whispered back.

They turned suddenly to go when they heard someone scream followed by the sound of a gunshot. Their eyes followed the sound as the hairs on the back of their neck stood.

"What the fuck was that?" Beth whispered back.

"A gun was shot obviously. What the fuck is happening in this forest?" Maggie asked.

"We should really get out of here now. If it's a shuffle between gangs, I don't want to get involved."

"I think we should just check what's going on" Wendy suggested "What if someone is really in trouble and we can help"

Maggie shifted back

"Maggieeee...Wends is right. Let's go"

Margret thought about it and sighed in defeat. Even though she disagrees, her friends would just drag her along. In this situation, she didn't have much of a choice "Alright fineee! I'll go with, but if we die, I'm hunting your ghosts even as a ghost"

"Yeah, whatever. Let's just check to be Sure" Wendy smiled and the three began walking deeper and deeper into the forest. Trying to locate where the sound was coming from. Although they were scared and uncertain as to what they would find when they eventually get to where the sound of the gun came from.

Pushing aside the bushes step by step as they walked, they finally got to an open clearing with a pit in front. Looking around, they found nothing.

"Well, we found nothing. Now let's get out of here!" Maggie sighed in relief attempting to drag Wendy and Beth along with her.

"Wait a minute" Wendy tapped Maggie's hand as she saw little drips of blood on the floor leading director into the pit in front of them.

"We really shouldn't be here," Beth said

"And here I thought I was the only one with a brain" Maggie sighed and Beth glared at her.

The three of them began walking gingerly towards the pit, following the little drops of blood on the floor. When they got to the edge of the pit, they peered inside and found a girl lying unconscious with blood all over her body. They screamed.

"Someone just got murdered," Beth said

"Wait a minute...She isn't just anyone, guys look closely," Wendy told them and Maggie switched on the torch on her phone and they looked closely. Then realization dawned on both their faces.

"Sara Pier"

"The Witch"

Maggie flung her phone and they all screamed in terror. Who did this? Who shot her? What did she have to give them? I mean, what the fuck did she do to get shot?

"Let's not leave her here please," Beth said

"Beth is right Maggie, let's take her back to school," Wendy added, tears already staining her face. Even though everyone hated Sara, she liked Sara. But no one could approach her because the girl never talked to anyone. And because of where her house was located, at the deep end of Pineville Street, they all regarded her as a Witch. Although, this rumor of her being a witch was only started by her best friend, Kendall Jones. And this, not-so-little rumor Kendall started as a joke turned out to be what ruined the poor girl's life. Not that she took pity on her or anything, she just felt that the girl didn't have to die like this.

They brought Sara out and began walking back toward the direction of the school breaking in little runs now and then.

"It looks like she's not completely dead. She's still breathing" Maggie said.

+•+•+•+

They got to the school, dropped Sara carefully at a clearing close to the school, and ran inside shouting, heading for the Principal's office. As they ran, people started at them like they had gone crazy. But they didn't mind. Someone was dying and they need help.

They got to the principal's office and opened the door without knocking.

"Margret, Wendelina, Bethany. What is all this ruckus about?" The principal glared at them as she removed her eyes from the monitor on her desk from where she saw the three of them running down the halls shouting. Although these girls were pranksters, top 3 troublemakers of the school, She knew Something was wrong because these girls wouldn't go causing trouble for the school for a prank.

Trying so hard to catch their breath, they whispered "Sa...ra...Pie...er"
