Haylie POV
After spending time with Mia at her house, I headed home as it started getting late. To my surprise, when I walked in, I found my parents already cozy with JC.
It was strange seeing them all together like that. I tried to smile, but the thought of JC being here—and the realization that I now had a brother—was something I still needed to get used to. The three of them were busy preparing dinner, chatting, and laughing in the kitchen.
Watching them, it clicked why JC could cook so well—he must've inherited it from our father. Back when we were in the wooden house, JC was always the one who cooked for us.
After a while, I asked my parents if I could go shower. I needed to get clean, and my new tattoo was stinging a little, reminding me to put some cream on it.
