Haylie POV
I found myself waking from a deep sleep, still lost in the remnants of a dream. In the dream, I had walked out onto the porch, just as I did every morning, and sat down to watch the sunrise of a new day.
The world was quiet and serene, the air tinged with the promise of something magical and I could hear the birds singing in the distance.
As I gazed at the horizon, my mother joined me, her footsteps light and familiar. She sat down beside me with a warm smile.
"I was wondering where you were. I thought you might be out here," she said softly.
I looked at her and smiled. "You caught me," I replied, turning my gaze back to the sunrise. The sun's reflection shimmered across the lake, breaking through the tall trees and painting the sky with hues of amber and gold. It was breathtaking, like something straight out of a painting, warm and alive.
