I refused to give up on Haylie. From the day I lost her, I became consumed with finding a way to bring her back. I begged Klinton to help me, to show me how to reach her. He agreed, and the next day, we returned to the cave.
"The only way to the spirit world is through the water," Klinton said. "It's the only path to reach Haylie."
I thought entering the water would be straightforward, but I was wrong. On the other side of the water was a vast, sprawling spirit world, far larger than I had imagined. I searched everywhere for Haylie, but she was nowhere to be found. There was another complication: you could only stay in the spirit world for less than a day. Any longer, and your body in the real world would suffocate, making it impossible to return.
