Abyss. That word seems so simple. A deep or seemingly endless area. However, he knew the truth. He knew just how little that definition defines what an abyss truly is. Of course he knew. After all, he's been surrounded by one for what seems like an eternity. He remembered someone in a show he watched saying that they were alone long enough to go insane and then loop back around to being sane once again. He didn't really get what they meant. Now he did, and he wished he didn't. He wished he was still insane and time passed without notice to him still, but that isn't the case anymore. He's come full circle, just floating there.
A distortion formed, however. A slight difference in the endless abyss, but that was enough for him to notice something. Of course he noticed, he's had enough time to know exactly how everything around him is, and the slightest difference was something he hadn't experienced in so long. Hope... that's what that feeling was. Something he thought long lost, but apparently still there. The distortion twisted and strained, collapsing and emerging at the same time somehow. An impossible sight to explain. After what he assumed to be a few minutes, which in all honesty he had no clue if it was that amount of time considering he lost his sense of time long ago, a space opened.
Instantly, an attracting force pulled him into it, and everything went black for a moment. Then, everything was white. What he saw before him almost made him weep. A humanoid figure, one he couldn't quite perceive fully for some reason despite looking directly at it. What he assumed to be it's head turned towards him, and it spoke.
"So, you are the lost presence I sensed. Tell me, how did you arrive at such a place? How long were you there?" The entity gazed down towards him, his voice tinged with a hint of what seemed to be curiosity.
"I... don't know. I don't know how I got there or how long I was there. All I know was that it was far longer than I could ever imagine." His voice was quite distorted and unbalanced, being used for the first time in a very long time.
"So it seems. I'm surprised, a soul such as your surviving in such an area for so long is... astounding to say the least," the entity comments with what seems to be mild curiosity.
"If you don't mind me asking, who are you? Are you some sort of god? Or maybe the God with a capital G?"
"I am simply an being of higher reals. I'm afraid any further explanation than that would eradicate your soul little one."
"I see. Why'd you pull me out of that place though? Not that I'm ungrateful or anything!"
After a brief moment, the giant entity spoke with a calming tone. "No worries. I simply retrieved you since you caught my interest. I do have one question to ask you though."
Surprised that a being such as the one in front of him would have any questions, the man looked up and asked, "And what would that be?"
"Would you like a chance at another world? I believe that after drifting in such a place for so long, you deserve some kind of reward for your endurance."
"Wait, really? Of course I would! I'd love that!" The man couldn't believe what he was hearing. At this point, nothing could convince him to give up this opportunity. There was nothing that could possibly be worse than that endless abyss.
"Then I shall let fate decide what your destiny shall be." Behind the entity appeared three wheels. Their sizes were incredibly large. The man couldn't even read what each slot of the wheel read from where he was.
"I've decided to be a bit gracious. The first wheel shall decide the world you'll live in. The second will decide what power you will be graced with. The last is a touch of my own. It will grant you the experience and abilities of one character you may be familiar with from your past world. Now, let's begin."
The first wheel that decided the world began to spin rapidly. The man watched with rapt attention, hoping that whatever world it was wouldn't be a terrible one. "Please don't be something like Elden Ring. Please don't be something like Attack On Titan. Just a nice easy world that's also fun please..." he whispered in a desperate voice.
After a few more seconds, the wheel began to crawl to a stop. It ticked slowly one by one, until the world it landed on brightly flashed in front of it.
"I see. It seems the world you've been granted is... RWBY."
The man's eyes flew open instantly. "Really?! That's great! I mean sure there's human eating monsters everywhere and a looming evil queen, but it's nowhere near as atrocious as something like Berserk!"
"It appears that you like the outcome of the wheel. Perhaps you'll like the next two as well. Let us see if your luck holds true." The entity then began to spin the next wheel. The wheel that would decide his personal power.
"Give me something overpowered please! Something like all fiction or any semblance of space or time warping. Come on..."
The wheel abruptly stopped this time, landing on a power. In front of the wheel brightly gleamed three words. Total Lightning Mastery.
"Oh... well I honestly can't be too mad at that at all really. Sure it's not something overpowered as all heck, but it's definitely better than say some random useless quirk from the my hero universe."
The entity's figure seemingly glances down at him, speaking once again in a calm voice. "It appears this spin has satisfied you as well. How interesting. Fate seems to favor you young one. Let's see if fate is truly generous today one last time, shall we?"
Once more another wheel began to spin. The last wheel that would decide the character he would gain as as sort of template. This last wheel spun rapidly, flying at speeds incomprehensible to the man. After what felt like minutes, it finally slowed to a crawl. Only two words appeared in front of the wheel this time. This time, they were a deep blood red.
Ryomen Sukuna
"Oh... oh god. That's... an insane character to role. I mean sure he's not some sort of universe destroyer, but his abilities and potential are crazy to even think about."
"Fate is truly kind to you young one. Three spins that are positive outcomes in your eyes. Let's see how far they'll carry you in this next world. I wish you the best of luck."
"I don't know what to say. Thank you for this opportunity. I promise not to let it go to waste."
The man didn't know how, but it felt like the entity had just smiled. "Of that, I'm sure of. Now, off you go."
A giant portal instantly appeared below the man and dragged him into it, thus signifying the start of his new adventure.
