Where am I..? Who am I..?' A body could be seen floating across an empty void of nothingness. 'Ha…. that's right… I died.' Now aware of his situation he sighed. 'But where am I? What is this place?' A moment later a surge of light blinded him as he was transported in front of a throne room where an old man sat on it.
"Welcome to heaven David." The voice spoke out.
"Wait-What? Heaven..? So… I can assume you're God?" David did not seem to be shocked. He had been a devout Christian throughout his entire life, so his belief in God was unwavering and deeply rooted.
"Ahh.., You're quite the intelligent one aren't you?" God spoke. "But yes, I am God. I must say David… You've achieved a lot of accomplishments and gathered a lot of good karma."
"Thank you…" David said smiling. Who wouldn't smile after being praised by God themself. "So now what..? Do I become an angel?" he questioned. A weird expression spreaded across David's face.
"Bahahaha." God let out a laugh."Not quite. You see, thanks to the good karma you've accumulated, I'm offering you the chance to be reincarnated into a world of your choosing. The amount of good karma you've gathered is 1,638,000 points which is more than enough for three wishes. However, due to your extraordinary accomplishments, you've earned two additional wishes."
"Wait, how do you even measure my karma?" David wanted to know just how much that really meant.
God put his hand on his chin and pondered for a second before speaking. "Good karma is measured by the positive actions, thoughts, and intentions you accumulated throughout your life. For example, small good deeds earn 10 points, medium deeds earn 50 points, and large deeds earn 100 points. Consistent good behavior over a lifetime multiplies these points, and living a virtuous life adds an additional bonus."
"Wow, that's incredible! Thank you for this opportunity. I never imagined my actions would lead to something like this. So, how does this work? Can I choose any world and make any wish I want?"
God smiled warmly. "Yes, David, you can choose any world you desire and make any wishes you want. Take your time to think about it. Once you're ready, just let me know your choices."
David took a deep breath, feeling a mix of excitement and anticipation. "Alright, I think I have an idea of what I want. First, I'd like to be reincarnated into a world with magic and adventure. I want this world to be vast, with endless possibilities to explore. A place where the landscapes are diverse and breathtaking, from enchanted forests to towering mountains and sprawling cities filled with mystical creatures and ancient secrets. I want a world where every corner holds a new discovery, and the potential for adventure is limitless. As for my wishes, I wish for Ciel, the intelligent and autonomous skill from 'That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime,' to assist me. I also wish for a bloodline with infinite potential, now my last wish will be… 'Let's see…, what is something that's cool… Oh I got it!' …I wish for an item that can take any shape I desire, is bound to me alone, and has the ability to apply whatever effect I will. "
God nodded thoughtfully. "Your wishes are acceptable and will be granted."
"Ok, when do I get reincarnated?" David asked, a hint of curiosity in his voice. God chuckled warmly. Suddenly, David felt a powerful tug, and everything went black. When he finally opened his eyes, what felt like an eternity later, he found himself staring at his tiny baby hands, a sense of calm acceptance washing over him.
As David lay in his crib, staring at his tiny baby hands, he suddenly heard a calm, soothing voice in his mind.
'Astra..? I thought I asked for Ciel?'
'So Astra, what can you tell me about this world?'
'Ah that sounds simple enough, what can you tell me about who my new body is?' David saw that his body seemed to have its own 'self-glow' to it.
'Celestial Draconian? Explain further.' David was intrigued by this Celestial Draconian race of his.
'Are Celestials and Dragons the top ranked races?'
As David sat in thought of how cool his race sounded he was brought back to the real world when he heard the soft 'coo' of someone's voice. Opening his eyes he saw what he thought was the world's most beautiful woman.
She has flowing blond-gold hair that cascades down her back like a waterfall of sunlight. Her deep blue eyes shimmer with an ethereal glow, captivating anyone who gazes into them. Her pupils have mini-stars, making her gaze look like the vast galaxy. Her six wings, reminiscent of the seraphim from David's previous world, are majestic and radiant, each feather glistening with a divine light. Her beauty is unmatched, with flawless skin, delicate features, and an aura of grace and elegance that leaves everyone in awe.
'Astra is that my mom?' David was in awe of the woman in front of him. She was what David would say the definition of beautiful.
David was dumbstruck. Was…, Astra…, Jealous?
'Astra…, you aren't jealous are you?'
Ok that proved it. His skill Astra? Indeed had a mind of its own, its own ego, its own feelings. Now he was stuck with a tsundere skill! What kind of luck was that?
He didn't know if this was a good or bad thing, but for now… it was a good thing. (A/N Future wife?)
"My beautiful boy…" The women stuck out her hand and David could see the blood dripping from her hand.
'Astra whats happening??'
'What but how-'
"Alaric… you must live on… you are the last one of your kind…' The women then starts to gather energy forming a white ball.
'Astra what is she doing?'
"Alaric… You must survive…" She then places a necklace around him. This exquisite piece features a gold emblem at its center, intricately designed with celestial patterns and encrusted with shimmering gemstones that catch the light from every angle. On the back of the emblem, the name ALARIC is elegantly carved. The necklace is adorned with a delicate chain of interwoven gold links.
As the necklace is placed around David… No, Alaric's neck.
The light engulfed him, soft yet unrelenting, carrying him away as he reached out with tiny, trembling hands. His small fingers stretched toward her, grasping at nothing but air. A weak, broken cry escaped his lips, a sound too fragile to hold the depth of his loss.
And then the warmth was gone.
The sudden chill of the forest air hit him, and he whimpered softly, his tiny chest heaving with sobs he didn't fully understand. His eyes, wide and shimmering with tears, darted around the unfamiliar surroundings. He squirmed, the soft fabric of his swaddling the only thing protecting him from the coarse ground beneath.
The world around him was quiet—unnervingly so. The whispers of wind through the leaves, the distant call of a bird, all felt hollow, as though nature itself mourned with him. But no sound could replace the gentle hum of her voice or the warmth of her arms.
Alaric's small body trembled, his cries growing louder, more desperate. He didn't have the words to call for her, but his wails carried a raw, primal pain that seemed to echo in the empty forest.
And yet, even amidst his grief, her voice lingered. Not a sound, but a feeling—a warmth deep in his chest, as if her final words were etched into his very being. You are stronger than you know.
The magic she'd used to save him still glimmered faintly around his small form, a soft light that seemed to cradle him as she once had. Slowly, his cries began to quiet, though the tears continued to streak his cheeks.
Alaric didn't understand what had happened, not fully, but a piece of him, small and unformed, clung to her memory, her love. That warmth would guide him, even in the years to come.
For now, though, he lay still, his tiny fists curling against the swaddling as his cries faded into soft, hiccupping breaths. The forest loomed around him, vast and indifferent, but Alaric's light, though small, did not waver.
'Astra, what is going to happen to my mom? Also call my Alaric from now on.'
Alaric felt a wave of sadness wash over him. He had just been given a new life, but it came with the loss of his mother. He looked around, trying to get his bearings. The barn he was in front of seemed old and worn, but it provided some shelter. He could hear the faint sounds of animals inside.
'Astra, what should I do now?'
Alaric nodded, even though he knew Astra couldn't see him. He crawled towards the barn door, using his tiny hands to push it open. Inside, he saw a few cows and chickens, and the smell of hay filled the air. He spotted a pile of hay in the corner and decided to rest there for a moment.
As he lay there, he heard footsteps approaching. A middle-aged woman with kind eyes and a warm smile entered the barn. She was carrying a basket of feed for the animals. When she saw Alaric, her eyes widened in surprise.
"Oh my goodness! What are you doing here, little one?" she exclaimed, rushing over to him.
Alaric looked up at her with wide eyes, hoping she would take him in. The woman gently picked him up and cradled him in her arms.
"Where did you come from, sweetie? You must be hungry and cold," she said softly.
'Astra, can I trust her?'
Alaric relaxed in the woman's arms, feeling a sense of comfort and safety. She carried him into her home, which was a cozy farmhouse nearby. She wrapped him in a warm blanket and fed him some milk.
"My name is Elara," she said, smiling down at him. "I don't know where you came from, but I'll take care of you."
