"Ah... Another inn has refused to house me" the young boy said to himself as he wandered into an alleyway for the potential to find food scraps and so he could rest his back against the buildings while attempting to fall asleep on this cold winter day.
The boy thinks "Damn can't they cut a young adventurer like me a break. It's hard enough already to earn my keep as an adventurer but because I'm young nobody will even give me a chance". The boy kept complaining about his woes to himself and began to scrounge around for potential scraps.
The boy continuined to scrounge around for scraps that anyone could have left in the alleyway. "Clink" the boy hears a noise and it seems to be the clinking of chains. The boy dismisses this thought as there was nothing around him to make this noise and attributes it to him just being hungry and tired.
"Clink. Clink" the boy hears the noise again this time drawing worry as he is fairly certain this time it wasn't in his head but as he looks around there is nothing present. The boy really confused, hungry, and tired had no luck finding any scraps so he just decided that he should fall asleep and try to get some food the next day.
As the boy began to close his eyes he hears "CLINK. CLINK. CLINK". This time much much louder instantly causing the boy to open his eyes and this time he saw a tall, skinny, hooded figure at the entrance to the alleyway. The boy said to the figure rather nervously "Do you need any help sir". The figure began to turn around.
The boy saw rather frightfully chained wrists, chained ankles, decaying skin, and blood red eyes that prickled the boys skins with just a glance. The boy felt something at that time that made him feel as if he needed to run away right now. This caused the boy to began sprinting away from the hooded figure as he hears a cold, sharp chuckle from the figure.
The boy ran, ran, and ran some more all while hearing the "Clink" of the chains which neither grew louder or quieter. This made the boy believe that the figure was playing with him. The boy perhaps too late noticed that as he was running the alleyway seemed to grow darker and darker, also he thought to himself "Shouldn't have this alleyway ended a long time ago". While the boy noticed these two things he heard "Clink. Clink. Clink. CLINK" which indicated the hooded figure was getting closer.
The boy estimated that he had about eight seconds until the figure caught up to him and was just about ready to give up until he noticed the alleyway was beginning to widen and there was a dim purple light at the end. He decided his best bet was to put his all into reaching towards the lit area. Six seconds left the boy could tell the figure was getting even closer but the light at the end was growing bigger. Five... Four... Three... Two... The boy was ever so close to the light but the figure behind him was almost close enough to touch him.
One second left and the boy got to the lot area and he saw houses and doors but no people as he continued to run. At this point the boy had lost all his hopes and the figures hand grazed the boys shoulder causing the boy to feel immense pain and to fall down near the right side of the alleyway. The boy recognized his very likely death but just then a nearby door opened and something grabbed the boy and pulled him inside.
