Ivy stood at the door and knocked.
Knock, knock.
The door made a sound, but there was no response. She pouted and fidgeted with her dress, contemplating giving up.
But she didn't. Lucien was inside. Maybe he'd open the door for her, even if it was just a little. She hoped, silently, in her heart.
Finally, she heard the sound of a click, followed by the door opening.
The first thing Ivy saw was Lucien, his expression cold, looking at her as if she were an ant he could easily burn.
She gasped inwardly, fighting to control the nervousness and fear swirling inside her.
"I'm coming in," Ivy said, keeping her head lowered, not daring to look at him. Inside, she thought: He had just let her into the castle.
She wasn't sure if he had forgiven her or if he was still angry.
She needed to be cautious with every move she made. But still, she couldn't help feeling nervous under his intense gaze.
