Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Where It All Began...

Section H0 Fools Labyrinth:

Sitting inside a tall, V shaped building putting most modern skyscrapers to shame sat a frail looking old man writing away on what seemed to be a piece of parchment resembling what seems to be human skin?

However people who knew where that skin came from knew that the creature it's from was infinitely more terrifying than even the scariest of humans.

"Still so much to do, so little time to do it" a look of incomprehensible regret visible on his face, the frail looking old man lamented on the fact that his life would soon run out, turning his head to look out his window for the last time in his life, seeing an endless Maz— No a labyrinth would be a far more fitting name for this hell, as far as the eye could see, seeing it from afar it almost looked like it was moving, alive even...

Which it was...

"Sigh" "500 years, it's a miracle this old body lasted as long as it did," sighing the old man felt empty inside, like he was missing a part of himself.

Hehe" letting out a bitter laugh at the irony of living for war, yet dying for peace, enduring the harsh survival conditions of the Labyrinth, the horrifying creatures within, and the unending cruelty of human kind, "this is how I go out, alone, weak, in the safety of my own home?"

Gritting his teeth so hard that they cracked, a look of unwillingness etched on his face, the frail looking old man who was anything but frail spoke for the last time in his long, long life...

"No, never, dying like this is a fools errand, for the weak, for the afraid, the powerless"

"Me? In your fucking dreams!"

"Hahahahah" letting out a laugh that shook the sky, looking at the countless figures watching him from below, "Oh Labyrinth, I've spent my whole life fighting against you, for it all to be in vain... I know I can't defeat you... But someday someone, whether in a 1000 years, 10000 years, even if it takes a million years there will be a time in the future when you eventually fall!"

"Dao Spell — World's Wish"

"I wish — my people survive!"

"I wish — my people gain freedom!"

"I wish — my people have a place to live in the world!"

Bursting into millions of little particles of light under the mournful gazes of the people down below, they all shot into the labyrinth, wherever they flew over, whether it was people fighting, running or hiding those who were injured, had their wounds miraculously close, those weakened or tired felt like they had unlimited energy, those who were scared and frightened gained newfound courage.

Section A1 Fools Labyrinth:

A group of ten survivors was running away from what looked like a crossbreed of a wolf spider and a mosquito, at a height of two meters tall, twice as long, eight hairy legs, giant glowing red eyes, and a proboscis almost as long as itself.

Of the group of people running was a middle aged man with rough features, athletic build, and a usually stoic expression, which at this moment was filled with nothing but anxiety and fear.

He was at the back of the group which would look odd to outsiders as he looked the most fit out of the entire group yet if one took a second look at him they'd see that on his back was a young man around 16 years of age, he had unkempt short black hair, pale white skin, and bright amethyst eyes that were on the verge of closing for good as he was on the brink of death, gruesome wounds marred across his entire body.

"Come on, come on, almost there" looking behind him as he started muttering to himself, the middle aged man took a quick glance at the youth on his back, seeing that he wasn't breathing, the middle aged man started to panic, wondering how they got into this god awful situation in the first place.

"Wake up, wake up... Come on wake up, listen to me for once In your fucking life, how will I face your parents in the afterlife if I let you die like this..."

Suddenly he saw a strange light shoot into the young man's body, closing his wounds, and helping his injuries, giving the middle aged man hope.

"stel..Stel...ASTEL!"

"Gasp" opening his bright amethyst eyes, Astel took a deep breath, looking around him and seeing the perilous situation they were in, he had no time to wonder about how he managed to survive with those fatal injuries.

Taking in the scenery of the surroundings, looking at the colour of the mossy stone walls next to him, the shattered pieces of weapons littered around, and the twists and turns they were making, he came to a realisation, that he didn't know where the fuck they are, and to stop focusing on the most useless of things.

"I'm dropping you off now, sprint ahead immediately and and turn right twice and left once, got it? and no matter what... don't look back" The middle aged man spoke with a voice that highlighted the seriousness of the situation.

"Uncle Abyss Im not leaving you behind, if you hadn't been carrying me so far, you'd have escaped long ago, Astel refused with his face showing an expression that he wouldn't take no for an answer.

"Brat, who said anything leaving me behind, all I said was to don't look back."

"3...2...1...NOW, JUMP!"

Jumping off, feeling the firm assuring thump of his feet hitting off the ground, Astel started sprinting with everything he had, trusting that his Uncle hadn't lied about staying behind.

"Hehe, Mosquito bastard, those are so awfully big eyes you have, would be a shame if anything happened to them..." turning around putting his hands in a triangle formation, and closing his eyes, he whispered in the faintest of murmurs.

"Dao Spell — Lights Embrace"

Everything turned white... Even Astel who was quite a far bit way at this point felt light shining from behind him.

"Screeee! Screeee!

The mosquito beast started screeching in pain and sheer anguish as its eyes started melting, causing it to leave behind a trail of foul black liquid as it crashed into the nearby walls.

Opening his eyes Abyss spared it a glance before sprinting away as fast as he could, "Hah, that should take it out of the fight" Abyss panted in mental exhaustion as using the Dao spell used a lot of his concentration.

Catching up to Astel, Abyss matched his pace, taking some time to catch his breath.

Astel had so many questions he wanted to ask but seeing Abyss's state he decided to continue running the way that they were now and ask him when he was in better state and regained his energy.

"Ah, brings back old memories" Abyss stated, a look of nostalgia visible on his face.

"Uncle, how long until we reach A0"

"Five minutes if we keep moving at this pac—"

WHOOSH" turning his head, Astel saw a mosquito's...? Spider's? Who gives a shit's proboscis to the left of his head, missing it by a few inches.

"Another one, where did it even come from, Damn it! Abyss groaned"

"Un-Uncle... How much time do we have until the Labyrinth closes?" Astel tried to keep the fear out of his voice but was still in shock due to how close he was to dying under the Creature's proboscis.

"CREAK" "CREAK" "CREAK

"I think it just answered your question..."Â
