Chapter 5 - Volume 1 Chapter 5

Smiling at my achievement, I was like a small child looking at my new status.

A 7% increase has created qualitative changes. It gave me 9 new abilities.:

1. I can transfer any wound with my hand that did not kill me instantly, from vital places to others. For example, if something strikes my heart, I am able to move it to the side of my hip or arm, thereby protecting myself from mortal danger.I am also able to do this with others. The disadvantage is that I can't carry the same wound twice. I am also unable to move the "wounds" on objects to repair them.

2. I can control small clusters of flame within a radius of 30 meters. The volume of flame that I can control at a time does not exceed a volleyball ball, the flame does not have to be solid. It also allows me to set fire to flammable objects within the same radius. The volume and radius increases by 60 percent as the potion is digested. And if the potion is completely digested, I can immediately summon flames from the air.

3. Flaming Jump, allows me to teleport into the fire. At the moment of teleportation and some time later, I have an immunity to gorenje. The jump radius is small, only 30 meters. It also increases by 60 percent, as does fire control.

4. Imitating the sound or gesture of shooting, I am able to create an air shot from behind my mouth or fingertips, respectively. Her strength is directly equivalent to that of a revolver. She improves her speed and strength stats by 30 percent as she digests the potion.

5. I can replace myself with a pre-made paper figurine. At this moment, I appear very close to the replacement location. At the time of replacement, the Paper Figurine takes on a rough resemblance to the original. I don't have to change before hitting, I can change with the figure at the moment of hitting or receiving the consequences to offset the damage from it. At the moment, my spirituality allows me to change 3 times with the figures when the potion is digested.

I have been able to change 4 times with them already.

6. While in the water, I can create an invisible pipe 5 meters long to breathe underwater. Gradually, it can grow up to 10 meters in length from the potion.

7. I am able to create illusions by changing the sound, smell and image accordingly. At the same time, the volume of the illusion can not exceed a cubic meter, and the range of sound and smell is not more than 30 meters. The ability continues to grow like the previous one.

8. Now, in addition to sharpness, paper can take on other properties. It can be hardened so that it becomes as strong as metal and serves as a bat. Or give a paper crane the opportunity to fly so that it can serve as a distraction.

9. The last ability is to soften bones, dislocating or breaking bones is a little more difficult for me than for ordinary people, and I am also able to get rid of most handcuffs and shackles.

Also, my fortune-telling abilities have become clearer. Physical strength has become a little stronger, and of course there has been a big leap in spirituality. It allows me to use Spiritual Vision without straining for 25 minutes. In addition, my spirituality can interfere with someone else's intuition, distorting the results.

I spent my entire day off getting used to my new condition and testing my abilities.

The headquarters was very close to the room where I was staying. I decided to show my strength under the pretext that I had found and eaten an unknown devil fruit. I think the owner of such a fruit can be immediately recruited for service on the Grand Line.

When I requested a meeting with Captain Smoker, I had to wait no more than fifteen minutes. One of the soldiers escorted me to the captain, and then he was released.

— So, why did you come? — Smoker didn't beat around the bush.

— Hello, Captain. I'm here again about joining Marinford on the Grand Line. Circumstances have changed: I have become the owner of the devil's fruit. I hope that now my qualifications will be sufficient.

Smoker looked mildly surprised. Apparently, the very sequence of events seemed to him too successful.

"And what kind of fruit did you eat?" Or what abilities did you get? "What is it?" he asked bluntly.

This time, I was surprised. Such a direct approach was unexpected. However, he still left me room to hide some of his abilities. Initially, I wanted to say that my fruit is associated with illusions, but considering that most of the fruits I know give strength directly, and development is achieved through new ways of application, I decided to unleash most of my abilities.

"As I understand it, this is a paramecium with various powers related to magic tricks," I began, pausing a little to find the words. — Yes, it's magic tricks. Create illusions, get out of handcuffs, leave enclosed spaces.

Smoker frowned. Perhaps he had some knowledge about the devil fruits, and he was alarmed by the lack of a clear focus of my abilities.

The pause lasted about ten seconds, but it didn't bode well. Smoker was probably thinking about my intentions right now. From his point of view, I was too eager to get on the Grand Line. My powers seemed too vague to him, which meant he could assume that I was hiding some of my abilities. Besides, it probably bothered him that I had found the fruit so quickly since our first conversation.

Damn it, I miscalculated, I thought. "I don't think he'll send me to jail, but he won't make a deal and will most likely start checking my background."

"Well,— he broke the silence, interrupting my thoughts. — Considering the new circumstances, your current qualifications should be enough. But I want to see for myself. Come with me, let's test your fighting abilities.

This turn of events took me by surprise. However, then I wondered: why doesn't he stop me? Is he really going to let you go to the Grand Line? Most likely, he has his own plan. Despite my reflections, the "clown's face" did not allow these thoughts to be reflected in my facial expressions.

— After checking, will I be able to transfer to the branch on the Grand Line? - I asked.

"Depends on the results,— Smoker replied, heading out of the office. He motioned for me to follow him. — To be honest, we need to understand what you are capable of before making a decision. If you're really a promising fruit owner, I'll have to teach you. If not, you'll have to stay here for a much longer period.

We walked through the corridors in silence, and the privates who greeted the captain saluted when they met the captain. We went out into the backyard. Its area was significant. An almost empty square with a length of one hundred meters ended where the barracks began, and the width of the square was the width of the headquarters, also about a hundred.

- And so, here we will spar, any weapon is allowed, fight with all your might.

He showed me the position from where the fight would start. As I was heading there, I realized that it was all becoming futile. I decided to show only my fighting strength, partly hoping that he would really send me straight to the goal, at the same time I held back, so that if some kind of hunt for me started. When I got to my position and looked at Smoker, I heard him shout, "Start!"

I took off after the command. I knew I couldn't beat him, but I was interested in the performance itself. He wasn't standing either, and he ran at me at a much faster speed. When I saw him coming, I tore the pistol from my belt and aimed it at his leg. It was all part of the play, and I knew perfectly well that I wasn't hurting him, while playing the role of an ignoramus. I couldn't aim at his head because I didn't know what kind of fetus he had. Aiming and firing, his leg turned to smoke, I made a face of surprise, and then ran backwards. At the same time, with one hand, I pulled out the cards and threw them towards the handle of the jute, with the other, with deft movements of my fingers, I pulled a match out of the box, lit it, and immediately threw it aside.

The cards didn't knock the weapon off his hand, and despite coming into contact with the Kairoseki, it still managed to turn into smoke, as did his gloves. After closing the distance, his other hand also turned into smoke. They both tried to block my way and grab me.

Being ready for such a move, I teleported right into the flame from the match. I pulled out more cards and used the illusion to turn them dark green. While the cards were flying at him, I was simultaneously invading his intuition, creating a sense of danger.

This time, as expected, he quickly put his limbs back together. He dodged one card, and blocked the other with a jutte.

This maneuver forced him to act passively. It was worth noting that there was apprehension on his face. I pulled out more cards, set fire to a couple of them, and then I threw him at them again.

When he looked at them, he didn't see any Kairoseki cards among them. Having ignored them, he rushed at me through them.

I understand that nothing else can surprise him right now, I waited for the moment when the cards flew through him. And having already decided to get behind him, I couldn't, because the fire on these cards went out due to lack of oxygen.

At that moment, groaning due to an oversight, a heavy grip of smoke fell on me, and the tip of the jutte directly touched my skin. At the same time, a puff of smoke confiscated my weapons and maps. Only after disarming me did he release me from his grip.

After checking my deck and ammunition for Kairoseki shells, he looked at the cards I had previously issued. Not seeing those green, dangerous cards himself, he turned to me and asked with a slightly angry intonation: "Where?"

Pulling out another card from my sleeve, I gave it a dark green color, characteristic of Kairoseki, in front of his eyes. Then, before his very eyes, the card lost its color and became ordinary. In order for him to be convinced of its falsity, I threw this card at his feet.

- When the fight started, I noticed that your weapon radiates a dangerous aura. The moment I let the cards into you, all of your equipment, body, and clothes turned to smoke, except for jutte. I dared to assume that this material is directly related to the sea. With the help of an illusion, I inspired you with danger, and also changed the color of the cards to this very material. The deception really worked and you dodged the cards, not daring to block directly.

Slightly relaxed after my explanation, he still remained cautious. After spending a little time in his own thoughts, he expressed the results of our sparring:

"You're smart, but you're physically weak. There's no way you can be sent to the Grand Line at the moment. You can serve with me for six months and take a training course, after which I will send you to Captain Hina. Or, instead of Hina, I can try to transfer you under the control of Vice Admiral Garp.

Pretending to hesitate, I replied after a while.:

"Thank you, but I'll decline in that case." Then it's easier for me to become a bounty hunter.

Slightly displeased with my choice, he grunted, but nodded anyway. He started packing, while directly telling me to leave too.

As I walked back, slightly dissatisfied with the result of his verdict, I was nevertheless pleased with the sense of progress that appeared in the battle.
