Chapter 1 - Echoes of sundering

Maluk Lafewe, thaumaturge of the imperial academy of Meld'raului, is dressed in red, one of the most severe forms of blasphemy against Hald'loi, the sacred emperor. Around her, a narrow and recessed valley, formed by flat rocks, specifically limestone and sandstone, stretches vertically until nothing can be seen beyond the dense mist of Maln'd. It is hot and arid, an inhospitable place for anyone.

She, however, does not remain still. Slowly, on her arms, Arlean glyphs appear, formed by a golden semicircle surrounded by points perpendicular to a line cutting it in half. Stirred by the miurga, it begins to reflect its image on the ground, almost like a mirage, its ephemerality evident by its subtle tremors.

Maluk, as much as she tried, could not keep her arms steady, her entire life culminating before her, her soul in a frenzy, her resolve feeble upon her goal. She closes her eyes and begins to breathe deeply and rhythmically, and, eventually, her arms stop trembling; the glyph gains more color.

What was once as small as a hand is now as large as the ground itself, its figure now grandiose. Maluk then draws a dagger from her robes and, with steady hands, takes her own life. Her body falls to the ground, her blood permeating the air with its strong scent of iron.

Shortly after, the glyph, once illusory, seems to solidify; the ground begins to crack and split. A sphere, as small as an apple, appears amidst the newly revealed space, spinning and emitting small bursts of energy. The glyph then surrounds it and begins to cover its surface, completely halting the sphere. It seems to distort its surroundings, sucking everything into itself.

After a certain time, it begins to shrink, almost as if devouring itself; the intensity of the destruction suddenly increases, accompanied by an immense, execrable sound.

This is the nexus of the continent; it is what once kept the continents together. And it was destroyed.
