Chapter 33 - Chapter Thirty-Three: The Lost and Strayed People

'Where are they usually sold?' Drunken Night asked again.

'We have channels to the northern powers, the southern powers, the border towns, and even abroad.' Jiang Luo glanced at Drunken Night and paused before continuing, 'Most of the women are sold to nightclubs and bars, and as for the children, some will end up as servants, while others will be taken away by people with special fetishes.'

People with special fetishes? Upon hearing this, Drunken Night suddenly glanced at Xiuzhi behind him and laughed, 'Well...to be honest, the children you bought before wouldn't have been born here, would they?'

'Who knows,' Xiuzhi said indifferently, 'but it's possible.'

The place where he bought children was the black market. Since there was no fixed management in the black market, everything was sold there, basically anything that couldn't be seen in the light of day.

'If even you are buying their stuff, then I have to say that the reach of this trafficking base in the White Base is really quite extensive.' A dark light flashed in his eyes, and Drunken Nocturnal sidled up to him and slapped his arm with the back of his hand, teasing, 'In that case, it's still more convenient for me, I just need to drag a woman from any nightclub.'

'I wonder how Drunken Snow would react to hearing you say that.' Xiu Qi sneered, averting his eyes and not wanting to deal with him.

'That depends on whether you'll live long enough to let Snow know.' Drunken Night leaned in close to Xiu Qi's face, and his aura changed immediately.

Watching the two interact, Jiang Luo could only feel an inexplicable chill rising from the soles of his feet. He was very sensible and did not ask Xiu Qi what he wanted a child for, nor did he inquire curiously what they were doing.

From beginning to end, he kept his lips pursed and didn't say a word.

It had to be said that there was a reason why Jiang Lu had been able to escape from a heavily fortified base. Sometimes people who talk too much always die the earliest.

Because of the bright sunshine, they didn't encounter many zombies along the way. Drunken No Night basked in the warm sunshine and spread his hands out, quite enjoying it, and said, 'I love the sunshine...'

'No one would believe it.' Xiu Qi coldly dismantled Drunken Night's stage, and when he looked up, he noticed that they had walked into a small area that looked quite nice.

He looked around, then lowered his head and curled his lips up with interest, revealing a cold smile.

'We're here.' Jiang Lu licked his dry lips, feeling hot and cold because he still had a fever, and he felt light-headed. 'This is where I met the person you're looking for.'

'Here?' Drunken Night took a few steps inside, then stopped when he heard the roars of a group of zombies. Taking cover behind the building, he looked sideways into the community and, unsurprisingly, saw a group of wandering zombies.

'Jiang Luo...' He raised an eyebrow and turned back to smile, 'You're not lying to us, are you? Why are there so many zombies here?'

Although Drunken Night was smiling, the coldness in his voice could not be hidden no matter what.

Looking at Zui Wuye's handsome smile, Jiang Luo felt a lump in his chest. All the good feelings he had for Zui Wuye before were now overwhelmed by the coldness that welled up from the bottom of his heart. 'I really didn't lie to you. When I escaped, I saw that man kill all the zombies. These zombies should have gathered recently.'

'You killed the zombies yesterday, and they gathered in such large numbers today?' Drunken Night's warm hand reached Jiang Luo's neck, but his voice was increasingly cold. His eyes were as sharp as those of a hunter, full of mad murderous intent.

Jiang Luo unconsciously took a half step back, his hands instantly cold and devoid of temperature.

When a person is in extreme fear, the blood in their hands will quickly flow back to their legs to ensure that they have enough explosive power to escape, which makes their hands become extremely cold.

This is human instinct.

'Because, because we have been injecting blood into the underground mezzanine in this area, we have ensured that the zombies linger in this area, thus playing a certain protective role!' Jiang Luo, who was already running a fever, only felt his consciousness become more confused. He explained loudly, and the whole person was on the verge of collapse.

If the average person passed by here and saw so many zombies in this community, most of them would indeed choose to avoid it.

Drunken Night seemed to believe some of it, and he moved the position of his hand on Jiang Luo's neck and patted him on the shoulder.

'I naturally believe you,' he said with a smile.

Like hell he does! Jiang Luo shook, feeling that the hand on his shoulder was a thousand catties in weight.

'That said, it seems like we're surrounded,' Drunken Night suddenly sighed in a low voice as he watched Jiang Luo's silent expression.

As soon as the words fell, a dozen guns poked out from the surrounding windows, pointing directly at Drunken Night and the others.

Jiang Luo froze in place, not knowing what to do in response, while Xiu Qi still had that same indifferent expression.

It was Drunken Night who let out an exaggerated sigh, and directly raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, 'Hey, hey, hey, I'm a man with no strength, I surrender, don't shoot.'

Although he said this, there was no sign of fear on his face, and the guns pointed at them showed no sign of moving away.

'Jiang Lu, how dare you come back!' A middle-aged man in his thirties or forties walked out of the hallway of a building. Ignoring Xiu Qi and the others, he walked towards Jiang Lu with a fierce air, picked up a gun and aimed it at his head.

'Brother Wu, I...' Jiang Luo knew that he couldn't escape when he saw this. His face turned pale and he trembled. He couldn't help but clutch his clothes in desperation. "I just don't want to do these things that go against my conscience anymore.'

Wu Minying sneered when he heard this, looking at Jiang Luo as if he were looking at a fool. "Against your conscience? That's your reason for running away? Put away this naive and ridiculous idea of yours. This is just a way for us to survive in this apocalyptic world!'

'I also think this child is quite naive.' Even Drunken Night twitched the corners of his mouth when he heard Jiang Luo say the words "against one's conscience".

'Who are you?' Wu Minying then fixed his gaze on Drunken Night.

'Me? I'm here with a friend looking for someone. Our friend got lost and wandered off here,' said Drunken Night, putting his hand down and looking miserable.

Someone upstairs who was 'lost and wandering' glanced at him from the window and then turned back to continue brushing Yu Lan's hair.

Hmm... Yu Lan's hair is much better than it was a few days ago.

Yu Lan also glanced out the window, withdrew her gaze, yawned contentedly, and became drowsy.

'How dare you bring someone else here?' Wu Minying glared at Jiang Lu on hearing this.

Upon hearing this, Jiang Luo hurriedly shook his head, 'No, I just brought them here to find their partner!'

After saying this, he glanced at the expressionless Xiu Qi and the smirking Drunken Night, and bowed his head in front of Wu Minying.

'Your partner is here?'

'This kid saw our partner kill all the zombies outside when he escaped,' Drunken Night said with a raised eyebrow.

'So...you are that person's partner?' Upon hearing this, Wu Minying narrowed his eyes, then suddenly burst out laughing, "What a stroke of luck!'

As he watched Wu Minying laugh, a strange smile also faintly appeared in the dark eyes of Drunken Nocturnal.

'That's great, we were looking for him, and you just walked right in." Wu Minying laughed enough before glancing at Drunken Nocturnal and Xiu Qi and coldly saying.
