Synopsis
The world's top-notch killer had just completed a brilliant mission and was planning to take it easy and play some games. However, while he was playing, he felt that something was completely wrong! This game was way too realistic! It was only after falling off a cliff that he belatedly realized what had happened. What kind of game was this? He had actually traveled through time! He was about to die right after arriving here. What was the point of that? Was it to make sure he didn't die thoroughly and had to go through it all over again? When he opened his eyes again, all his injuries were healed. After carefully recalling the memories of the original owner, he discovered that this was a technologically advanced future world! He had transformed from a killer into the eldest son of the mayor of Calais City. Since he was already here, he might as well make the best of it. Anyway, he was tired of the days filled with fighting and killing. Here comes the life of a rich second-generation heir! He had originally wanted to live a carefree and leisurely life in retirement. However, trouble soon came knocking at his door. Why was it that the original owner could live a carefree life as a young master for over a decade, while he had to be forced to risk his life as soon as he arrived? Could things get any worse! Looking at the powerful particle cannon pointed at his forehead, what could a little killer like him do? A wise man knows better than to fight when the odds are against him. He could only swallow his pride for the time being! Wasn't it just an adventure? He loved adventures the most. But the direction this world was taking was getting weirder and weirder! It was okay if there was ancient martial arts, but how come there were also monsters and demons? What happened to the promised future world! How could it be so unscientific? So, is the end of science just metaphysics? I just wanted to enjoy a peaceful retirement life. Do you have to force me like this? Alright, alright, do you have to play it this way? Since that's the case, then don't blame me for being a sly operator! Let's see how Reed Brooks, a modern killer, experiences a fantasy journey in the future world.

Chapter 1 - TIME TRAVEL

Reed Brooks stood on the virtual battlefield of the holographic game, his eyes fixed on the enemy in front of him - a dilapidated robot.

The virtual environment in the game was filled with broken steel and burning flames, but at some point, the surrounding environment had already turned into a thick forest.

However, Reed's attention was entirely focused on that robot and he didn't notice these changes at all.

Reed brandished the weapon in his hand and clashed with the robot.

Each collision sent sparks flying in all directions, and the sharp sound of metal filled the air.

Even though he had gone all out, the robot wasn't shaken in the slightest. Instead, every counterattack made him feel an unusually intense sense of oppression.

"Damn it! Does this guy have so much health? Why hasn't its health bar dropped at all after all this?" Reed gritted his teeth and fought with all his might.

With a loud bang, he kicked the robot and sent it sprawling to the ground.

However, instead of showing any sign of fatigue, the robot quickly got up from the ground and pounced on him. Its fierce movements were so rapid that it was almost impossible to react in time.

Reed's body shuddered. The intense pain made him freeze for an instant - the pain in the game seemed more real than ever before.

He looked down at his chest, where there were three large bloody holes as big as bowls, and blood was gushing out of them.

That feeling was no longer virtual but real pain. Everything in the game seemed to have become vividly lifelike.

"What's going on? Has the game been upgraded? Why does it feel so real?" Reed was shocked, and his mind was in chaos.

However, the robot in front of him paid no heed to his astonishment and launched another attack.

Reed tried his best to dodge, but the robot tightly hugged him and rushed backwards with him.

After a brief moment in the air, he felt his body falling rapidly.

The wind whistled in his ears, as if the sky had been torn apart.

"Damn it! There's a cliff behind!" Reed struggled hard, but the robot's arms locked him tightly like iron pincers.

"Damn it! Let me go!" Just as he was about to fall off the cliff, Reed suddenly twisted with all his strength, trying his best to make the robot cushion his fall.

"Bang!"

With a loud noise, the two of them crashed heavily onto the ground. Reed's body shook violently, and the powerful impact made him lose consciousness briefly.

A moment later, Reed suddenly opened his eyes, and the scene in front of him became unfamiliar in an instant.

He slowly raised his head and looked around. He found himself lying in a dense forest, with strange lights all around.

The edge of the huge cliff was faintly visible, and the place where he was now was clearly completely different from the environment in the game.

"What on earth is going on?" Reed's heart was beating violently. He struggled to get up from the ground, his heart full of confusion.

As a killer, he had just successfully completed an assassination task and was planning to take a break. He was playing games at home when suddenly he was brought here!

Feeling the pain all over his body, Reed reached out to check his injuries.

His face turned a little pale: eight ribs were broken, his left leg bone was shattered, and there were three bleeding holes in his chest.

Reed forced himself to sit up. Excessive blood loss made his head dizzy.

In an instant, all the pain, memories, and sensations seemed to be swallowed up, and his mind was in chaos.

Suddenly, a large number of memories that didn't belong to him flooded into his mind.

Maybe it was a long time, or maybe only a dozen seconds had passed. Reed slowly came to his senses.

The memories just now didn't belong to him at all.

This physical body was also named Reed and was the eldest son of the mayor of Calais City.

The original owner of this body died from a robot's attack, and he had unexpectedly transmigrated here.

"Transmigrated?" Reed couldn't quite believe it and rubbed his temples.

"I haven't even spent the billions in my account yet, and now I'm dead? This is fucking bad luck!"

He looked around and saw that the edge of the high cliff was blocked by thick trees, which alleviated some of the impact from his fall. Otherwise, he would have already been a mangled mess of flesh and blood by now.

His gaze fell on the robot not far away.

The already dilapidated robot looked even more miserable.

Its scattered parts were all over the ground.

However, it wasn't completely scrapped. After the red light in its eyes flickered a few times, it started to move, propping up its tattered upper body with one arm!

"So durable? What is this thing made of?" A hint of amusement rose in Reed's eyes.

"Click, click!"

Watching the robot slowly approaching him, Reed casually picked up a broken leg of the robot on the ground, ready to give it a whack at any time.

However, when the robot was two meters away from him, it stopped moving.

The robot slightly turned its head, and the red light flickered in its eyes.

"You're not with them?" Its cold voice made Reed shiver inwardly.

"Them? Who?" Reed furrowed his brows and rummaged through the original owner's memories in his mind.

The original owner had come to this forest to gather inspiration, and suddenly he was attacked by this robot that sprang out of nowhere.

The original owner was too weak. After just a few rounds of fighting with the robot, he died.

It was just really bad luck. In this way, it seemed that the original owner was even unluckier than himself, and Reed instantly felt a bit more balanced!

Reed recalled the scene when the robot appeared. It seemed very much like the robot was being chased.

"Who's chasing you? And why are you being chased?" Reed asked instead of answering.

The red light in the robot's eyes flickered."I'm sorry. I mistook you for one of those people and that's why I attacked you!"

Reed slightly raised his eyebrows. He didn't expect a robot to be able to apologize. Well, it was quite polite!

It was a pity that the original owner couldn't hear it.

"You still haven't answered my question." Reed reminded coldly.

"I don't know who's chasing me. I was resting at home with my master when suddenly a group of people burst in.

After several of us guard robots fought with that group of people for a while, we were no match for them and our master was captured.

They forced our master to tell them where the thing was. Since our master refused to comply, they shot and killed him." Speaking of this, the robot's cold voice actually carried a bit of sadness!

"No, your master died and you just ran away? Since you're a guard robot, shouldn't you fight to the very end?"

"I didn't desert. My master had already input an instruction into my program long ago. If he was killed one day, I was to take the thing and leave. I must never let that thing fall into the hands of the bad guys!"

"Crackle, crackle" Perhaps because the robot's emotions fluctuated a bit too much, the half-scrapped circuit began to spark.

"The thing? What thing?" Reed became a bit interested in the thing that its master didn't hand over even when facing death.

The robot stared at Reed for a few seconds."Anyway... I'm going to be... scrapped. Since... you're not with those people... I'll... give this thing... to you!"

Perhaps in line with what it said, its words also began to come out intermittently.

The red light in its eyes also dimmed a lot.

Reed still hadn't figured out exactly what the current situation was. Since that thing could arouse the envy of a group of people, it must be a hot potato. He didn't really want to take it.

"Forget it. I was just joking. I'm not interested in that thing. Anyway, since you're about to die, don't let that harmful thing show up in the world."

However, the robot ignored him. It stretched out one finger and tapped on its head a few times.

After a few"beeps", the seamless metal head of the robot had its top opened.

Then it reached in and took out a bracelet from its head.
