In Uzumaki Mito's dojo, the berserk chakra began to subside slowly. Anxious Kushina rushed into the dojo, holding Raiden and chattering nervously. Meanwhile, at the door of the dojo, the nanny stood frozen in shock, staring at the dilapidated room, momentarily speechless.
Suddenly, Uzumaki Mito retracted all the chakra she had released and vanished from the dojo. At that moment, both the worried Kushina and the contemplative Raiden failed to notice her departure.
Whoosh!
The sound of rushing air broke the silence as several Konoha ninja appeared outside the barrier Mito had set up. They stared at the barrier in surprise, unsure of what to do.
"This barrier is saturated with Mito-sama's chakra. It must have been set up by her," one of the ninja said.
"I'm not sure what just happened inside. Tokuma, can you use your Byakugan to check?" the white-haired leader instructed calmly. He wore a Konoha forehead protector, a short blade strapped to his back, and his hair fluttered slightly in the wind.
"Yes!" The Hyuga ninja, Tokuma, activated his Byakugan and began gathering chakra to peer inside. Before he could report anything, a figure appeared before them—a woman with red hair and a diamond-shaped mark on her forehead, unmistakably Uzumaki Mito.
"Mito-sama!" The Konoha ninja immediately knelt on one knee, bowing their heads in respect. The white-haired leader, Hatake Sakumo, glanced up at Mito, a hint of curiosity flashing across his face.
Why was there an overflow of Nine-Tails chakra? Did Mito-sama lose control? Sakumo wondered, but he kept the thought to himself. Matters concerning the Nine-Tails were top secret, and at his current rank, he wasn't privy to the full details. Still, he needed to confirm the situation.
"Mito-sama, what caused the explosion just now? Is everything alright on your side?" Sakumo asked. As the leader of the team tasked by the Third Hokage to protect the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, the disturbance naturally drew his attention.
"It's nothing," Mito replied with a dismissive wave. "I encountered a minor issue while researching a new jutsu. No need to worry."
Though Sakumo remained skeptical, he knew better than to press the issue. With Mito's status, even if she outright refused to elaborate, there was nothing he could do.
"Understood," Sakumo said, signaling his team to retreat. Once the group left, Mito returned to the dojo.
Inside, Kushina was still fussing over Raiden, trying to convince him to go to the hospital.
"I really don't need to see a doctor! I'm fine!" Raiden protested. "If you don't believe me, wait for Grandma Mito to come back. She'll back me up."
Despite Raiden's insistence, Kushina continued to try dragging him out. She couldn't believe he was unharmed after being at the center of such a violent explosion.
"Alright, Kushina," Mito's calm voice interrupted as she re-entered the dojo. "Raiden is fine. Go back outside and continue practicing. I need to talk to him."
Reluctantly, Kushina complied, still skeptical but unwilling to go against Mito's wishes. She shot Raiden a concerned glance before stepping out.
With Kushina gone, Mito turned her full attention to Raiden. She bent slightly, examining him closely. She even lifted his small arm, gently squeezing his muscles.
"Hmm, as expected of the Uzumaki clan. But why does your chakra contain a lightning attribute?" Mito murmured. "At your age, it's impossible to master lightning nature transformation. Could it be innate?"
Her eyes narrowed as she studied Raiden's face, as if searching for an answer hidden within his features.
"Grandma Mito, what's happening to me? Why did I cause that explosion?" Raiden asked, feigning ignorance. He had already analyzed the situation internally. His chakra reserves had noticeably decreased, but the flickering lightning within his chakra seemed to have intensified. Over time, the lightning dimmed and blended back into his chakra, leaving only faint traces on the surface.
"Your chakra contains a significant amount of thunder-attribute energy. When I asked you to control it, you failed, and it went berserk," Mito explained with a smile. "But even so, your chakra levels are impressive for someone your age. Many chunin can't compare to you."
Her pride in Raiden was evident. For Mito, nurturing such talent within her clan was a source of great satisfaction.
"It seems we need to start your ninja training sooner than I planned. With your natural chakra reserves and physique, basic ninja exercises won't pose any risk to you," she said decisively. "To help you master control, I'll guide you personally. You'd better prepare yourself, Raiden."
Raiden, still processing her words, hesitated. "What kind of training?" he wondered aloud.
"Come with me," Mito instructed, already heading toward the dojo's exit. Curious and slightly apprehensive, Raiden followed her.
The two entered Mito's study. Raiden watched as Mito made a series of hand seals, causing an entire bookshelf to vanish, revealing a hidden door behind it.
"This is a concealed barrier," Mito explained with a smile as Raiden stared in awe. "You've been playing around this area, but you never realized the secrets it held."
Opening the door, Mito stepped into a previously dark room that lit up as she entered. Candles illuminated the space, revealing its contents to Raiden.
The room was small, surrounded by bookshelves filled with scrolls and texts. At its center sat a large scroll labeled "Book of Seals." The surrounding bookshelves held an assortment of other scrolls, many untitled, their contents a mystery until opened.
"You'll spend your afternoons here. I'll teach you the Uzumaki clan's sealing techniques," Mito announced.
Raiden stood frozen in shock. He had never expected to gain access to the Uzumaki clan's sacred techniques at such a young age. Even Kushina, nearly twelve years old, hadn't been taught any sealing techniques. Mito had only shown her a limited amount of ninjutsu.
The training Grandma Mito planned for me is focused on sealing techniques! Raiden thought, his heart racing. As expected of the Uzumaki clan, unrivaled in sealing jutsu! Is there any ninja clan more resourceful?
Suppressing his excitement, Raiden feigned reluctance, letting out a small groan. "So many books? How long will it take me to read all of them~?"
