Chapter 4 - Reassessment

Rayden furrowed his brow as he observed a woman with long platinum blonde hair devouring his grilled fish without asking for his permission. Yet, he remained frozen in place, mesmerized by the unparalleled beauty of the woman before him.

Her demeanor, reminiscent of a young girl delighting in her meal, snapped Rayden back to reality. He swiftly moved to her side, not to stop her from eating, but rather to enhance her experience. With a gentle gesture, Rayden placed some vegetables on the plate of grilled fish, introducing a new layer of flavor for her to enjoy.

The woman eagerly sampled the vegetables, blending them harmoniously with the succulent grilled fish. Her eyes sparkled with newfound delight as she savored the unique combination. With growing enthusiasm, she devoured all the green vegetables available.

Rayden, who initially felt hunger pangs, found himself unexpectedly satiated merely by watching the woman eat with such fervor. A soft smile played on his lips as he unconsciously stroked her long, platinum blonde hair.

For a moment, the woman paused, gazing at Rayden with innocent eyes before resuming her meal with an adorable expression.

Half an hour later, every morsel of food on the plate, both fish and vegetables, had been thoroughly consumed by the woman.

"Was it delicious?" Rayden inquired gently, offering her a wooden cup filled with orange juice.

Catching the enticing aroma wafting from the cup in Rayden's hand, the woman accepted it with delight. After a single sip, she became utterly captivated, drinking the orange juice with such zeal that not a drop remained.

Satisfied with Rayden's attentive care, the woman peacefully drifted off to sleep with her head resting in his lap.

"Thank you, human. You've prepared the most delicious grilled fish I've ever tasted!" Finally, the woman began to speak. Her voice was gentle and exquisitely melodious, leaving Rayden utterly captivated by the sound.

'Her voice is so beautiful!' Rayden thought, filled with enthusiasm and admiration.

Before he could react, the woman in his arms suddenly rose and sank a pair of fangs into his neck, drinking his blood with an expression of sheer surprise.

"Ahh—" Rayden let out a small groan, his eyebrows furrowing in pain, akin to being pierced by two sharp needles.

Initially, Rayden wanted to protest, but upon seeing the innocent expression on the face of the woman beside him, he could only surrender and sigh with a sense of helplessness.

After she was satisfied, the woman wiped her mouth and exclaimed in amazement, her eyes shining brightly as she gazed at Rayden with newfound light. "Y—you, possess blood that is incredibly delicious and extraordinarily potent. Your blood can't even be compared to that wretched ancestral dragon's!!".

Rayden couldn't quite grasp the full context of what the woman was saying, but one thing was clear: this woman held his blood in extremely high regard.

"By the way, my name is Rayden Zephyrios. Just an ordinary man from another world. May I know your name?" Rayden introduced himself with warmth and a gentle inquiry into the identity of the woman beside him.

"My name is Anastasia Frostbane, a Primordial Vampire. It's a pleasure to meet you, Rayden. I consider myself fortunate to have crossed paths with you." Anastasia replied with a bright smile, introducing herself in an elegant and soft manner.

Hearing the term "Primordial Vampire," Rayden was slightly taken aback. He hadn't expected to encounter a vampire like those in movies in this new world. However, what puzzled him was the distinction between a primordial vampire and an ordinary vampire. Putting his confusion aside, Rayden decided to focus on a more pressing question.

"So, how did you come to find yourself in my presence?" Rayden asked, his voice gentle and welcoming.

Anastasia paused for a moment before responding. "In truth, I've been following you since you entered the forest. No human dares to venture here, as the creatures inhabiting this forest pose a threat of catastrophic proportions."

Continuing her explanation, Anastasia elaborated that she originally lived in an abandoned castle on a remote island with her mother. However, the island had been destroyed by ancestral dragons, forcing Anastasia and her wounded mother to seek refuge in this forest in search of a new home.

Feeling lost and famished, Anastasia was unsure of her next move until she noticed the peculiar presence of Rayden and began shadowing him silently, moving stealthily among the shadows of the trees.

Witnessing Rayden's remarkable ability to annihilate a troop of hobgoblins with gravitational magic and subsequently constructing a sizable, intricately structured wooden house in an instant, left her questioning if Rayden was indeed an ordinary human, possessing such high-level magical talents.

Ultimately, Anastasia was drawn by the enticing aroma of grilled fish seasoned with spices, cooked by Rayden. Unable to resist any longer, she entered his yard to savor the freshly cooked fish.

Rayden's voice was weak and devoid of enthusiasm as he spoke, "Regarding the matter of high-level magical talents you assume I possess, there seems to be a misunderstanding. In truth, I'm just an ordinary guy with two E-rank magical abilities: telekinetic magic and Plant Growth Magic." His expression was somber as he reflected on the seemingly worthless magical talents he had been born with.

Anastasia, upon hearing this declaration, was filled with confusion. She then produced an assessment orb that appeared far superior to the ones previously used by the kingdom.

"I refuse to believe that mere telekinetic magic could decimate a troop of hobgoblins with such ease. Furthermore, constructing a complex wooden house structure is impossible with mere Plant Growth Magic!" Anastasia asserted, unwilling to accept the reality. "Now, let's conduct a re-evaluation using this appraisal crystal." Extending her hand holding the crystal, she pulled Rayden's arm, placing his palm upon it.

Understanding the mechanism, Rayden infused the crystal with a strong intent. Instantly, a deep blood-red light, much more intense than in previous evaluations, enveloped his entire body.

As the holographic display revealing his newfound magical talents appeared, comprehensive new information simultaneously assimilated itself into his mind permanently. This data elaborated on every fundamental and technical aspect, along with other complete information, regarding his newly discovered innate magical talents.

"Wow, who would've thought my magical talents were this incredible!" Rayden exclaimed joyfully, hardly able to believe the information so vividly displayed before his eyes and within his mind.

"See, I told you. It's impossible for such powerful effects to come from E-rank magical talents," Anastasia said, pride swelling as she lifted her chin high, demonstrating her prowess as an astute woman.

Witnessing her charming demeanor, Rayden smiled warmly and offered his sincere appreciation. "Thank you so much, Anastasia. Thanks to you, I was able to quickly realize my error!" he spoke gently, holding her shoulders and gazing into her crimson eyes with genuine gratitude.

Anastasia beamed brightly, "Think nothing of it, I'm also glad to have met you so soon. Thus, I no longer feel physical hunger and... receive a sense of fulfillment..." Her voice, initially confident, softened significantly at the end as she mentioned "sense of fulfillment."
