The symbol
The air was cool as the gentle wind rustled through the trees, concealing the subtle movements of the figures slipping through the quiet forest. The border of the pack's territory stood few meters ahead of them, a nearly invisible line marked by scent trails and instinct.
Maya moved silently beside Caleb, with sharp eyes, wary of the stillness of the night. Every muscle in her body was tense,in anticipation to find out what's going on on their border line. The recent revelation from Kian had left her unsettled, and when the opportunity to lead a patrol at the border came, she seized it without deliberating on it.
Caleb, walking just a step behind her, gave her a long glance. "You seem to be on edge." His voice was low but clear.
Maya heaved softly, looking ahead. "Can you really blame me?" she murmured. "With the situation on ground, it warrants me to be restless and on the edge?"
