I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that had settled in the pit of my stomach. It had been three days since we arrived at the cabin, and everything seemed too quiet, too peaceful.
Themba had gone out to check the perimeter of the property, and Lungelo was out collecting firewood. Amahle was supposed to be inside, reading a book.
But as I called out to her, there was no answer.
I felt a surge of panic as I rushed to her room. The window was open, and her book was lying on the floor.
Amahle was gone.
