Afreen had always dreamed of meeting a prince charming who would come and save her, but she knew deep down that such a dream was never meant to be.
She could feel the seconds slipping away, each one bringing her closer to the end. Her heart, weak and frail from ischemic disease, had little time left. The doctors had already told her: there is no hope.
So, she try to made her peace. She had ticked off every item on her bucket list—trips with family, moments with friends—but one thing still wasn't fulfilled: she would never fall in love.
Her thoughts often wandered to those K-dramas, imagining a love story that would sweep her off her feet. But now, with each passing day, the dream felt more and more out of reach.
She looked at the window, gazing out at the ocean, her father's promise fulfilled. She had asked him for this one last wish: to see the ocean before she left. The waves seemed to mirror the emptiness she felt, rolling endlessly as the clock ticked away her last moments.
The clock. Her only companion in this lonely countdown.
She had so many regrets.
So many things she wanted to do, so many thing she regrets not doing.
Afreen looked at the window gazing upon the sunset, looking at the sunset she thought: if I ever got another chance I will surely live my life at it's fullest her face filled with determination. Leaving no doubt on her mind.
She at last felt peace.
She closed her eyes never to open again. Her body lay dead in the hospital bed, The rhythmic beeping of the machines had long since ceased, leaving only the echo of emptiness.
...
--Another chance--
Afreen woke up, opened her eyes looking at her surrounding to find no hospital bed.
She found herself lying in a vast, opulent room's bed.
The sheer size of the room making her feel small and insignificant.Â
The room illuminated by the moon's glow and the flickering, dim light of few candles placed around the room. The shadows they cast danced ominously on the walls, heightening the surreal, unsettling atmosphere.
She looked at the side of the bed and saw the carefully crafted mirror and on that mirror saw a unfamiliar face.
The girl in the mirror is nothing like Afreen, she looking at the long blond hair finding it unreal, her gaze stopped at the crimson color pupil . Unlike Afreen who had black eyes with matching black colored pupil.
She felt pain in her neck, looking closely at the mirror she saw dark bruise—a mark of strangulation.
She moved the hand to the neck, finding everything unreal. The moment she touch the "mark" hand-mark, she felt intense pain in her head.
Making her mind blurry and foggy. With the pain, came memory rushing to Afreen's brain.
Memory of the girl name—Audry Ledlan—came rushing to Afreen's mind.
Unable to process that much information at once she felt daisy, felling to the bed. The pain seems to tone down after some time. She lay down for 2 to 3 minuets trying to sort-out her thought.
Once again set up form the bed and reached out her hand to drink water. The cold water making her racing heart claim.
Flashes of someone else's life burst into her consciousness—a girl running in a garden of roses with her elder sister, Saying goodbye to close ones, standing on a balcony overlooking a sprawling estate, arguing with a shadowy figure. The name "Audry Ledlan" surfaced, whispered in tones of reverence and fear, weaving itself into the very fabric of Afreen's thoughts.
That... that is the body of Ledlan family's 3rd daughter Audry Ledlan.
But why she had this bruise in her neck?
Did she tried to committee suicide or someone tiered to kill her. If so, why can't I remember it? Is the memory I got isn't completed? She thought to her self.
Three days ago from now Audry Ledlan's seventeen birthday was held. But after that day from now everything is foggy to me.
But for some reason I know her birthday was three days ago without seeing the date.
Afreen sensing something wrong, she opened the door.Â
And the long hall felt abnormally empty. What happened she thought not knowing if everything is okay or not.
Form the memory she knew that Emile's room was 4 rooms apart. Afreen now as "Audry Ledlan" walked towards her elder brothers room finding no guards anywhere.Â
Sound of her foot steps echoing into her ears. Making the night feel abnormally ominous and the gas lamps dim light giving some light to the hall. She came near the room of Emile Ledlan stopping in front of the door.
Tap...Tap...Tap.
There was no response. Afreen knocked again, three sharp raps echoing in the stillness. When silence persisted, she pushed the door. It creaked open.
Inside, her breath caught. Emile was there, slumped against the wall, his lifeless eyes staring into the void.
The once-clean wall behind him was drenched in crimson, streaks of blood telling a tale of violence. A gaping, ragged hole marred his stomach, as if something had devoured him from within.
Afreen staggered back, bile rising in her throat.
She vomited on the floor. Despite knowing he isn't her brother she cried out his name as if though Audry is influencing her action.Â
But fear rooted her in place. Every fiber of her being screamed a warning: Don't go near him. Don't touch him.
Afreen cried out, her voice trembling with desperation.
"Anna! Mother! Father! Sister!"
While getting out of Emile's room. Running! her breath becoming heavy.
She rushed to Alina's room Afreen didn't knock she barge in her elder sister's room to see the same crimson blood. She laying dead in her bed blood dripping from her stomach.
Afreen's chest tightened as she stumbled backward, gripping the doorframe for support. Fear churned in her stomach, threatening to overwhelm her again.
Afreen's mind raced as she made her way to her parents room, whispering, begging under her breath.
"Please, someone... anyone..."Â
Before she could go to her parents room. She fell to the ground suddenly felling sleepy.Â
