The sun was setting, painting the sky in warm hues of gold and pink, but your mother still hadn't arrived to pick you up. You were alone in Satoru's grand mansion, its vast halls eerily quiet. His father was still at work, and both your mothers were out shopping together.
"Follow me, kitten," Satoru said, rising from the couch and heading toward the balcony. His voice was soft yet confident, and you followed without question.
The cool evening breeze brushed against your skin as you stepped outside. Satoru leaned on the railing, watching the horizon with a small smile. "Pretty, hm?" he asked, wrapping his arm gently around your waist. The unexpected touch sent warmth rushing to your cheeks.
You nodded, your gaze fixed on the golden-pink clouds.
"This is so random," Satoru began, turning to face you, "but would you like to go out with me for about an hour?"
His question caught you off guard. You looked up at him in surprise. "Huh? That's so sudden. I'd love to, but..."
He interrupted you with a knowing smile. "Yeah, your mother doesn't let you. I know. She told me about it all and asked me to protect you in return once she gives me your hand in marriage."
You weren't shocked—after all, you'd spent hours talking to Satoru about countless topics. But hearing it said aloud still made your heart race.
"That's why I plan to take you out for just an hour," he continued. "The longer we're gone, the riskier it gets. But trust me, kitten—I won't put you in danger." He chuckled, meeting your gaze with reassuring confidence.
You smiled faintly. "I'll trust you."
"After all, I'm your knight," he said with a grin, and for a moment, his presence felt like a shield from the world.
The two of you strolled hand-in-hand through the quiet streets. Satoru led you toward a candy store, glancing at the brightly colored sweets displayed in the window. "What are some sweets you like?" he asked casually.
"Actually... I'm more into bread," you admitted, your cheeks turning pink.
He raised an eyebrow, his expression amused. "Bread? That's unexpected." Without hesitation, he redirected your path toward a nearby bakery.
The warm, rich scent of fresh bread greeted you as you stepped inside. "There's no way a pretty girl like you is into junk food," Satoru teased with a smirk. "Or maybe I should call it dad food."
You giggled, following him through the cozy shop. "I always thought dads were more into junk food too. My dad loved bread too. I guess we share the same taste."
"Do you miss him?" Satoru asked softly, his usual teasing tone replaced by genuine curiosity. "He seemed like a nice man."
"I do. He treated me like a princess," you said, your voice tinged with nostalgia.
Satoru smiled, taking your hand and kissing it gently. "Aren't you one anyway? Gorgeous as hell. I'll treat you the same after we're married. I promise."
The sincerity in his words left you momentarily speechless. But before you could respond, he added with a chuckle, "You know, I can't blame you for loving bread. The smell is making me hungry too."
By the time you returned to Satoru's mansion, the sun had disappeared, leaving the sky bathed in silvery moonlight. "What a relief we made it back in time," Satoru said, slipping off his shoes.
You bent down to remove yours, but he stopped you. "I'll do it for you, princess," he said, kneeling to take them off. "Princess-like shoes too? I admire your taste."
You felt a mix of emotions at his gesture—surprised and touched by his attentiveness, yet uneasy. The shoes weren't your choice; your mother had insisted you wear them, despite your preference for something simple and comfortable.
"Thank you," you murmured, your smile genuine but tinged with discomfort as the thought of your mother lingered in your mind.
"Something wrong, kitten?" Satoru asked, noticing your hesitation.
"No, nothing," you replied quickly, following him into the living room and sitting down beside him.
Later that evening, the mansion grew unnervingly quiet. The only sounds were the soft ticking of a clock and your restless thoughts as you worried about your mother. Despite your messages, she hadn't responded, and your anxiety grew.
The sound of footsteps drew your attention. Satoru emerged from the shower, his torso bare, a towel loosely wrapped around his waist. His toned chest and abs glistened under the dim light, and your face heated up immediately.
"Look at me, kitten," he said, flexing his muscles. "Rate my body."
You tried to look away, but your blush betrayed you. "Oh, um... I'd rate you... 10/10, actually," you admitted shyly.
Satoru smirked, pleased with himself. "I'm more than aware of that, princess."
He sat beside you, his closeness unsettling. "You've got a pretty long neck there," he said in a deep and low whisper, his tone light but his words peculiar.
The comment made you uneasy, but before you could react, his hand rested on your knee. Slowly, his fingers trailed up to your inner thigh.
"Yeah, no," you said, standing abruptly.
"Really? After all we've shared today?" he asked, his tone sharp with annoyance.
"Why did you think you could just touch me like that?" you demanded, your voice firm.
"I can't?" he shot back. "I'm your future husband."
"Doesn't matter. You have no right. I didn't think you were a pervert."
Satoru's expression darkened. "Shut it, woman. Do not talk back to me. Have you any idea who I am?"
"Why? Your father didn't tell you?" you countered, refusing to back down.
His smirk turned cruel. "Talking about fathers now, huh? Did you forget yours died a year ago? He's nothing but a rotting corpse."
"Excuse me? Watch your language, Satoru! My father was a human being, not an 'it.'"
Satoru laughed coldly, shoving your shoulder. "He was a human, but let me remind you: he's dead now. Nothing but bones in the ground."
You bit back tears as your mother's car pulled into the driveway. You quickly composed yourself, masking the pain with a fake smile.
Your mother entered with Satoru's mother, both cheerful and oblivious. "Queens are back, babies!"
"How was everything?" your mother asked, her eyes bright.
"Fine," you lied.
"Just as I expected," she said.
Satoru's mother beamed. "After all, she was with my Satoru the whole day!"
You forced another smile, hiding the turmoil churning inside.
