Chereads / Void Sovereign: Rise of the Cursed God / Chapter 23 - Pantheon’s Domain

Chapter 23 - Pantheon’s Domain

The swirling energy of the Convergence Gate enveloped Ravok and Lara, their bodies suspended in a vortex of blinding light and crackling energy. The sensation wasn't painful but disorienting—a feeling of being stretched across existence itself. When the light faded, they emerged into a new realm, one that felt entirely alien.

The Pantheon's Domain was a landscape of impossible beauty and overwhelming power. Colossal citadels made of radiant energy floated in a crimson-tinged sky, their spires twisting endlessly upward. Rivers of molten light coursed through the air, weaving between massive platforms that hovered above a seemingly infinite abyss. Every element of this world exuded an oppressive authority, a perfection so absolute it felt stifling.

Lara let out a low whistle, her eyes scanning the horizon. "Well, this doesn't scream 'friendly neighborhood.'"

Ravok's gaze was steady, his crimson eyes reflecting the shimmering glow of the realm. "This is the heart of their power. It's where they rule, where they enforce their so-called order."

"And we're just walking in, uninvited?" Lara asked, gripping her daggers.

Ravok smirked faintly. "We're not walking. We're taking it."

A Realm of Control

As they moved across the platform, the air itself grew heavier, pressing against them with a force that seemed to intensify with every step. The whispers of the Void were gone, replaced by an eerie silence that felt more hostile than any sound.

"This place isn't natural," Lara muttered. "It feels… alive."

"It is," Ravok replied. "Every corner of this realm is tied to the Pantheon's will. They see us. They feel us. And they're already preparing to stop us."

"Fantastic," Lara said dryly. "I love being the center of divine attention."

Ahead, the platform shifted, ripples of energy spreading outward as a group of radiant figures emerged from the shimmering ground. Unlike the chaotic forms of the Gatekeeper, these were precise and deliberate, their armor gleaming like liquid gold. Each carried a weapon that pulsed with celestial energy, their movements synchronized as if they were extensions of a single mind.

"The welcoming committee," Lara said, raising her daggers.

The leader of the group stepped forward, their voice echoing with divine authority. "Void Sovereign, you trespass on sacred ground. Leave now, or face annihilation."

Ravok's smirk deepened. "You already know my answer."

The leader raised their weapon, its blade glowing with intense light. "Then you have chosen oblivion."

---

The Pantheon's Enforcers

The Enforcers attacked in unison, their movements unnaturally fluid and devastatingly fast. The leader's blade cleaved through the air, aiming directly for Ravok, but he sidestepped with calculated precision. His Void-infused dagger flashed as it met the strike, the collision sending ripples of energy through the platform.

Lara darted between two attackers, her daggers slicing at the gaps in their armor. Each strike disrupted their movements, forcing them to adjust. "These guys are tougher than the last ones," she shouted, parrying a blow aimed at her shoulder.

"They're not scouts," Ravok replied, his tone calm. "They're Enforcers—extensions of the Pantheon's will. They fight as one."

"Great," Lara muttered. "Any chance they can die as one?"

"They can," Ravok said, his eyes narrowing. "But we have to break their connection first."

---

Exploiting the Weakness

Ravok analyzed the Enforcers' movements, noting the synchronization in their attacks. Every strike, every dodge, every parry was perfectly timed, as if they were being guided by an unseen force. His gaze shifted to a glowing orb hovering above the platform. Its light pulsed in rhythm with the Enforcers' movements.

"That's their link," Ravok said sharply. "It's feeding their coordination."

"Of course it is," Lara said, rolling her eyes. "And I'm guessing you want me to go break it?"

Ravok smirked. "You're faster."

Lara didn't argue. She sprinted toward the orb, her movements a blur as she evaded the Enforcers who tried to intercept her. Ravok covered her, his strikes precise and unrelenting as he forced the Enforcers to split their focus.

As Lara reached the orb, she leapt onto the pedestal it hovered above. Her daggers struck its surface, but the orb resisted, its light flaring brighter as it fought against her. "This thing doesn't want to break!"

"Keep going," Ravok said, deflecting another strike. "It's bound to their will. You're breaking them."

Lara gritted her teeth, her strikes growing more forceful. The orb cracked, and the Enforcers faltered, their movements losing synchronization. Sensing the weakness, Ravok unleashed a wave of Void energy that shattered their formation, leaving them vulnerable.

---

Turning the Tide

With their link severed, the Enforcers became disorganized. Ravok moved through them like a storm, his dagger cutting through their defenses with ruthless efficiency. Each strike was calculated, dismantling their power piece by piece.

Lara joined him, her daggers flashing as she finished off the stragglers. Within moments, the platform was silent, the Enforcers reduced to fading fragments of light.

"Well, that was unpleasant," Lara said, catching her breath. "Please tell me that's all of them."

"It's not," Ravok replied, his gaze fixed on the towering citadel in the distance. "This was only the first line of defense."

---

The Gate of Judgement

As they approached the base of the citadel, a massive gate came into view. Its surface was covered in shifting runes, each one radiating an immense power that seemed to hum in harmony with the citadel's structure. The whispers of the Void returned, sharp and triumphant.

"Break their seal. Claim their light."

"Break the seal?" Lara asked, eyeing the gate warily. "That sounds like a trap."

"It is," Ravok said, stepping closer. "But it's also an opportunity."

Placing his hand against the gate, Ravok channeled his Void energy into the runes. The gate resisted, its light flaring brightly as it fought against him. The air around them crackled with tension, the collision of energies creating a maelstrom of light and shadow.

"Careful!" Lara shouted, shielding her eyes. "That thing looks like it's going to explode!"

"It won't," Ravok replied, his voice steady. "It's surrendering."

With a final surge of power, the runes shattered, and the gate groaned as it swung open. Beyond it lay a grand chamber filled with a blinding golden light. At its center floated a massive orb, its glow pulsing like a heartbeat.

"This is their light," Ravok said, stepping forward. "Their power."

"And what are you going to do with it?" Lara asked, though she already knew the answer.

Ravok placed his hand on the orb, his crimson eyes glowing brighter as its energy began to flow into him. The chamber trembled, and the whispers of the Void grew louder.

"The first light falls. The Sovereign rises. The war begins."
