Miguel walked the dark streets of the village, his mind heavy with the weight of the promise he had made to Zoya. The air was thick with tension as he passed the homes of people who, like his family, had learned to live in the shadow of fear. The distant roar of the Royal Dragon from the sky made every step heavy.
As he approached the remote areas outside the village, Miguel's thoughts turned to rebellion. Over the past few months he had come into contact with rebels, ordinary villagers who were tired of the king's oppression and were trying to do something about it. They were a ragtag and disorganized group, but Miguel knew he could organize them into a force capable of challenging Ravok's rule.
The meeting place for this evening was a small hidden warehouse on the edge of the forest. Here Miguel had agreed to meet with three of the rebels' most trusted members: Kael, Thane, and Liora. They had all fought the King's soldiers at various times and their skill was unmatched.
When Miguel arrived, Kael, Thane, and Liora were already waiting. The first to greet him was kaeL, a tall man with broad shoulders and a perpetual scowl. "You're late," he muttered in a low voice that rumbled like thunder.
"Sorry," Miguel said, shaking his head. "There was someone I wanted to meet."
Liora, a mischievous woman with a quick wit and sharp eyes, smiled knowingly at him. "Someone special, do you think she was teasing me?"
Miguel's expression relaxed for a moment, his thoughts returning to Zoya. However, he quickly put those thoughts aside and focused on the mission at hand. "There is no time for distractions. The Royal Army will tighten its grip. We must act quickly.
Thane, who had been silent up until then, spoke up. "What's the plan, Miguel?" His voice was calm but firm, betraying his impatience.
Miguel turned to them, his eyes shining with determination. "We will start by attacking the King's supply lines. We will raid his grain fields and cut off the food supply for his army. It won't be a great victory, but it will get the message across." We can't defeat Ravok in one go, but we can weaken him."
Kale crossed his arms. "So how do we get in there? The King's men are everywhere.
Miguel took a deep breath. "I have an idea. We have a shipment due to arrive tomorrow night - it's heavily guarded, but it presents the perfect opportunity for us to attack. We will act quickly, attack the grain belt, and be out before they know what has happened."
The group was silent, and each member considered the risks of such an operation. They knew what was at stake. Failure meant death. But they had to take the risk. They could not allow the King to continue his reign of terror.
"We're going to need help," Liora said, breaking the silence. "When we strike, people must be ready to stand up."
"I agree," Miguel said. "We'll spread the information and rally the villagers. This is just the beginning.
Kale nodded. "Then we'll do it. But to pull this off, we need to make sure we're prepared. No mistakes allowed.
Miguel smiled grimly. "No mistakes allowed."
The next day, a small group of rebels gathered in secret. The villagers who joined the movement were fearful but determined. They were men and women of all ages, from farmers to merchants, and each had their own reasons for taking up arms. Some had lost family members to the King's dragon. Some had lost everything because of his policies. But they were united in one goal: to see Ravok fall.
As night fell, Miguel, Kale, Thane, and Liora led the group to the granary. The air was cool and quiet, except for the distant sounds of the King's soldiers patrolling the area. The mission was dangerous, but Miguel's resolve was unwavering. He couldn't afford to fail.
Moving swiftly but carefully, they entered the granary. The guards were few, but they were on guard. Miguel and Kael led the way, silently eliminating the guards one by one. The rest of the group followed them, sneaking in and stealing as much grain and supplies they could carry.
Miguel's heart was pounding, but they worked quickly, but his mind was on the bigger picture. The raid was a small victory, but it was a start. People were beginning to understand that they no longer had to live in fear.
But just as they finished their work and were about to leave, a loud crash echoed through the night. A guard spotted them. Miguel's eyes widened as he heard running footsteps approaching.
"Move!" he yelled, grabbing Liora's arm and pulling her toward the exit.
The rebels scattered, some retreating into the woods, others struggling to hold the line. The guards were on alert, but escape was going to be much harder than they had anticipated.
Miguel's pulse raced as he led the group to safety. They couldn't afford to be caught. They had made their move, but now they had to survive to fight another day.
The raid was successful, but the rebellion's real test was just beginning. As they disappeared into the night, Miguel couldn't shake the feeling that everything had changed. They had defeated the king, and he would feel it.
But as the sun rose over the kingdom, Miguel realized this was only the beginning of a long and dangerous battle.
The rebellion was alive.
