Chapter 1: The Rebirth of Kayode
Obadasa Kayode was no ordinary man. Born and raised in the bustling streets of Akure, Nigeria, he had climbed his way to the top through sheer determination, ambition, and a knack for seeing opportunities where others saw obstacles. At 34, he was a billionaire, the CEO of KayTech Industries, and a man whose influence reached far beyond Africa. Wealth was his weapon, and it made him untouchable—or so he believed.
But even the richest men can't outbid fate.
It started on what seemed like an ordinary day. Kayode had just signed a multi-million-dollar deal with an international conglomerate. He returned to his luxury penthouse in Ikoyi, poured himself a glass of wine older than most countries, and sat on his balcony overlooking the Lagos skyline.
"This is life," he said, smirking to himself.
But just as he raised his glass for a sip, the air around him began to hum. A golden light enveloped the room, shimmering like a living thing.
"What kind of nonsense—"
Before he could finish, the light expanded, consuming everything in its path.
---
When Kayode opened his eyes, he wasn't in Lagos anymore. The air was cooler, the sky an unfamiliar shade of purple, and the horizon was dominated by mountains that seemed to touch the heavens. He sat up on a bed of glowing moss, his designer suit replaced by a simple brown tunic and leather sandals.
"What in the name of... where am I?" he muttered, brushing the dirt off his clothes.
A deep, commanding voice boomed in his head.
"Welcome, Obadasa Kayode. You have been chosen by the African Spirit System to walk the path of cultivation and restore balance to the realms. Embrace your heritage and rise!"
Kayode froze, his sharp mind racing. "Who said that? Show yourself!"
"Relax, big man. I'm your System—a guide forged from the spirit of your ancestors. Together, we'll make your name shake the heavens."
A glowing panel appeared in front of him, its golden text floating in the air:
__
Name: Obadasa Kayode
Origin: Earth (Nigeria)
Cultivation Realm: None
Skills: None
Special Attribute: African-Minded System
---
Before Kayode could react, another line of text materialized:
---
New Quest:
Survive Your First Day
Description: You have been reborn into a world of cultivation where power rules all. Adapt quickly, or perish.
Reward: Basic Knowledge of Cultivation and 10 Ancestral Points
---
Kayode rubbed his temples. "No, no, no. This must be a dream. Some side effect of stress, or maybe that wine was spiked. I'm a billionaire, for goodness' sake! I can't just be snatched into some ridiculous fantasy world."
The System chuckled.
"Your billions? Gone. Your penthouse? Gone. Your Range Rover and designer suits? Gone. In this world, money means nothing. Only power matters. So stop whining and get to work."
Kayode scowled. "You're telling me I left everything behind to end up in a jungle? And you, this so-called System, are supposed to help me?"
"That's the spirit! Now you're catching on. And yes, I'm here to help—though calling me just a system is insulting. I'm the African-Minded System, baby! I'll teach you to hustle, but don't expect me to spoon-feed you."
Kayode's patience was wearing thin. "Listen here, whoever you are. I'm not some broke hustler off the street. I've built empires, won battles in boardrooms, and negotiated deals with some of the most powerful people in the world. I'll figure this out on my own, thank you very much."
The System snorted.
"Keep talking, Mr. Big Man. Let's see how far your ego gets you when a beast decides to make you its dinner."
As if on cue, a low growl echoed through the forest. Kayode turned to see a massive lion-like creature step into the clearing. Its fur was jet-black, its glowing red eyes locked onto him. Two curved horns jutted from its head, and the ground trembled with each step it took.
Kayode stumbled back. "What... what the hell is that?!"
"That's your first problem. I'd suggest you solve it before it solves you."
"What do you mean by solve it?!" Kayode shouted, panic creeping into his voice.
"Calm down, my guy. You are not alone, as the first system formed from the fortune of Nigeria you are given three lucky chances to call upon the spirit of your ancestors. Hehehe. You're not alone in this. Call upon your ancestral spirit. Focus on the bond with your roots."
Kayode gritted his teeth. "Roots? This isn't the time for proverbs!"
But deep inside, something stirred. Memories of his grandfather telling tales of Yoruba warriors and their bravery came to him. He closed his eyes, concentrating on that spark. Slowly, warmth filled his chest, spreading through his entire body.
When he opened his eyes, his hands glowed with golden light. Behind him, a faint image of an ancient warrior with a spear and shield appeared, towering 50 feets over him like a guardian.
The beast hesitated, snarling but wary.
"Alright," Kayode muttered, summoning his courage. "Let's see how far power takes me."
The lion lunged, and the fight for survival began.
