Chereads / The Wealthy Noble’s Poor Commoner / Chapter 7 - Exceptionally Well!

Chapter 7 - Exceptionally Well!

Thomas had managed to get a dorm earlier yesterday, and so as soon as he entered the school, the first thing he saw were students crowded in front of the billboards.

He pushed his way through the crowd to see what the big commotion was. "Thomas..Thomas" He said quietly and then he saw his name…it was at top!

His eyes widened and he noticed most of his classmates from 13-A2 and other students were all staring at him. After all of new students had checked their scores, some of them began to disburse, but Thomas was still quite in shock. Him on the billboard…was this a joke or what? He quickly pushed his way out of the remianing crowd. He told himself that he would just keep yo himself, and not cause any trouble, but now he wasn't so sure if he could keep a low profile like this. He was happy to get a good score, but didn't want all of the attention on him!

As he was leaving a whole bunch of students continued to stare, and word of his high scoring was now spreading quickly. As he was walking, he bumped into someone and quickly apologized. "Sorry." He started to walk again, before that person called out to him.

"Excuse me?" A voice that sounded deep, poised and polite called out. Thomas turned and saw the man, he was a student, a third year to be exact. He managed to tell due to the pin on the left side of the students clothing, and with it included the words engraved that said 'Student Representative?' Thomas looked at the man.

He had natural black hair it looked soft, and well kept. He had glasses aswell probably worth more than Thomas's lunch. His clothing looked just as well kept as his hair, polished and refined. The man wore the schools uniform, but it looked like it was specifically made for him by a seamstress, the fabric looked soft, and very expensive. He was well groomed and was tall in height. He stared down at Thomas which made Thomas, very nervous.

"Do you happen to know a student somewhere around here named Thomas?" The student asked with a serious expression with a good look at him he was really handsome! "Why do you ask, Is he in trouble or something?" Thomas asked being vague about how he responded.

The man just continued to stare at him as if trying to gauge out his thoughts before speaking up. That serious stare made Thomas, even more nervous. why was he staring at him so intensely? Then then man spoke up "That doesn't concern you if you aren't Thomas." Thomas thought about what to say next before responding vaguely once again.

"Well what if I am Thomas?" Thomas asked to see what he'd do. The man gazed at him with curiosity before putting on his serious expression once again. "I don't have time for your childish games are you or are you not Thomas?"

Thomas smiled and held out his hand "Nice to meet you, and your name is…?" The man looked down at his hand, almost skeptical to shake it, but did so anyway. He took Thomas's hand and shook it.

"Well if we're going to be acquainted for quite some time I have no choice but to let you know my name." He said fixing his glasses with his index finger."Nathaniel Lancaster." He said looking at Thomas with interest. That serious expression still planted on his face though he also looked calm, maybe it was his eyes, Thomas thought.

Thomas nodded "I'll store that in my memory box then, so why are you looking for me Nathaniel?" Nathaniel cleared his throat. "You'lol find that information out when we've reached our aquired destination and well it's also because of your..." He gazed down at Thomas with a interested look. "Outstanding assignment."

"What? What outstanding assignment, wait do you mean the exam?" Nathaniel nodded and began walking seemingly expecting Thomas to follow his lead. Thomas ran up to follow. Nathaniel spoke up "It's surprising that's out of all the 30,000 students attending this school, that you a commoner actually managed to score a 90 out of 100…" he gazed down at Thomas before looking straight ahead.

Thomas eyes widened "Me? Are you sure that's right?" Nathaniel continued "Most students even nobles don't even pass 70 but you…" He stopped walking suddenly and Thomas did bumped into him thought Nathaniel didn't budge, instead he turned and looked down at him. "Tell me how dedicated must one be to even pass an exam that even most nobles can't…" He said with a serious tone and leaned in close to Thomas looking at him intently.

"I..I just studied everyday that's all…" Thomas said nervously. Nathaniel continued to stare into his soul, before looking away and backing up from Thomas. He cleared his throat. "We're almost there so don't slack behind." He continued to walk, but a bit faster this time so Thomas had to do the same aswell.

They arrived at a room which had a fancy looking signed which had the engraved words saying 'Student Council' inside there were 5 student representatives, The principal and an assistant evaluator. Nathaniel nudged him to the front, as if tell him to go inside. Thomas looked up at him before looking back inside the room. He took a big gulp and walked inside and all eyes fell on him. 'What was going on!' Thomas thought in pure confusion

"goodmorning…" Thomas managed to say even through his nervousness. "Ah, you're Thomas correct?" The principal had walked over towards him flashing his pearly whites. Thomas nodded. "Yes sir…you called for me?"

The man was short, and fat. He wore a suit and a long tie and had the look of a person who was respected. Though Thomas got a bad feeling from him, and his senses were flipping, but for now he'd have to make a good impression. "You can call me Mr Windsor my child!" The man laughed heartedly.

"I'm sure you know why I've called you here don't you?" Mr Windsor asked. "Yes, it's because I scored a 90 out of 100 on the exam…"

"Yes, yes, and you my boy, are the first out of all commoners to actually get a score that high!" Thomas wanted him to just get to the point and so responded. "Well…even so Mr Windsor, is there a reason why I'm here" Mr Windsor put an arm behind his back and guided him towards the desk "Well Ofcourse there is! The results you showed us were spectacular, and so I've decided to move you up a grade!"

Thomas was a bit shocked at what he said, and everyone one else in the room was quiet…It all felt so overwhelming, how was he gonna deal with this new information?

"Now all you have to do is read this contract throughly, and sign the paper if you agree agree to be moved up a grade." The man flashed his pearly whites again, he pushed the paper foreword towards Thomas. "You can let us know your answer in three days it's up to you my boy."
