Chapter 14 - Hero Battle Training!! (2)

Momo Yaoyorozu.

At the beginning of the story, she's ranked first overall in class 1a.

She's quite strong but also intelligent.

And that's why I'm scared of her.

Also, it would feel weird if I have to use my quirk against a girl, right?

The air was tense as we circled each other. Momo twirled her staff, her eyes scanning me for an opening.

I kept my stance low, weight shifting slightly as I watched her movements.

I wasn't expecting this to be easy.

I scratched the back of my head.

"You sure you wanna do this? We could just draw the game."

Momo's brows furrowed slightly. "You're underestimating me."

"Not at all."

Before I could say anything else, she moved. No hesitation, no wasted movement.

Her staff came down in a sharp arc, and I barely managed to sidestep before she spun and followed up with a horizontal strike toward my ribs.

I raised my arm to block, but the impact rattled my bones.

She didn't let up. Using her momentum, she dropped low and swept my legs out from under me.

"Shit-"

I hit the floor hard, rolling to avoid the follow-up blow that cracked against the spot where my head had been a second ago.

By the time I got back on my feet, she was already closing in.

She wasn't just fast—she was fucking relentless.

"Not looking too good for you," she said, breathing steady.

What the fuck?

Was she this strong in the story? How did she do that there?

I exhaled, flexing my fingers as I reassessed. "I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed."

"Then stop wasting time and take this seriously."

She lunged again, this time feinting high before dropping her staff and throwing a punch straight at my gut.

I barely twisted in time, but her knuckles still grazed my ribs, knocking the air from my lungs.

I stumbled back, and she followed up with a knee aimed at my side. I blocked, but my balance was shot.

The moment I took a step to regain footing, she was already behind me, striking the back of my knee.

My leg buckled.

Damn.

I barely caught myself, rolling to the side before she could capitalize, but it was clear—I was getting overwhelmed.

Fuck what I said earlier, I might have to use my quirk at this point.

I stood up, wiping the dust off my trousers.

"I don't think I'll fight now, you're too strong for me."

Not wasting any time, I bolted off.

Mineta stood in the middle of the dimly lit hallway, arms crossed, looking Koda up and down.

The taller boy stood near the makeshift nuclear device, shoulders hunched, eyes darting around nervously.

He looked like he'd rather be anywhere else.

Mineta scoffed, shaking his head.

"Man, this is almost unfair. You don't even look like you wanna fight. What, you scared?"

Koda flinched at the words, looking down at his hands. He didn't respond.

Mineta sighed dramatically. "You're lucky I'm a generous guy. I'll make this quick. Besides, I got places to be, boobs to grab."

Koda blinked. He opened his mouth slightly but still said nothing.

Mineta clicked his tongue. "Man, you don't talk much, huh? That's fine. You don't need words when you're gonna lose anyway."

He pointed a thumb at himself. "I have to win this. You wouldn't understand, but this is bigger than just some training exercise."

Koda tilted his head slightly.

Mineta clenched his fists, eyes gleaming. "If I win, Azaria's gonna set me up with Momo."

Koda frowned, shifting slightly.

Mineta's face twisted into a dreamlike grin.

"Do you get what that means? That's Yaoyorozu—the woman of my dreams, the queen of milk, the goddess of thickness!"

Koda tensed, clearly regretting his life choices.

Mineta wasn't done.

"Imagine it, Koda! I win, she admires my skills, she gives me her number, and next thing you know—we're alone. Just me and her—"

Koda looked deeply uncomfortable.

Mineta wiped a fake tear, his voice filled with theatrical emotion.

"Her massive, soft, all-natural gifts of heaven, resting in my hands—"

Koda physically flinched, his face burning red.

Mineta turned back to him, suddenly serious.

"I'm fighting for a greater cause. You wouldn't understand."

He took a stance. "So don't take this personally, but I will be winning this fight."

Koda swallowed hard, shifting awkwardly.

Then, finally, he spoke—his voice barely above a whisper.

"…I-I don't think you will."

Mineta raised an eyebrow. "Huh?"

A roach crawled across Mineta's foot.

His body stiffened.

Then, before he could react—the skittering began.

From the corners of the hallway, the ceiling vents, the floor cracks—they emerged.

Cockroaches. Centipedes. Spiders. Beetles.

Mineta froze. His mouth opened, but no sound came out.

His soul was buffering.

Koda just stood there, staring at him. He hadn't even moved.

"W-Wait…" Mineta took a step back, eyes darting around. "H-Hold on a second—"

More came.

Mineta's face twisted in horror. "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!"

Koda raised a single hand.

The bugs surged forward.

Mineta screamed.

He flung himself backward, scrambling like his life depended on it.

His hands reached for the wall, trying to get away.

Panic.

Mineta ripped Pop-Off balls from his head, flinging them in every direction.

Sticky orbs stuck to the walls, the bugs—and himself.

Mineta realized his mistake a second too late.

"… Oh no."

He tried to move.

He couldn't.

His own quirk had trapped him to the wall.

The swarm of insects stopped just below him.

Koda lowered his hand slightly. "You lost."

Mineta stared at him, eyes twitching. Then he wailed.

"I SURRENDER! STOP! I CAN'T—I CAN'T DO THIS! GET THEM AWAY FROM ME!"

Koda hesitated, then nodded. With a soft movement of his fingers, the bugs retreated.

Mineta dangled there, pale as a ghost, sweat dripping from his face.

Then, after a moment, he mumbled weakly:

"…This isn't what Azaria promised me…my dreams of Momo's big boobs are gone."

The dust hung in the air, thick and heavy, swirling in the low light.

It settled slowly, blanketing the room like a shroud, while silence seemed to stretch on forever.

The haze gradually began to clear, revealing the damage left behind—scattered debris, broken walls, and overturned furniture.

Everything was a mess, as if the chaos of the battle had swallowed the hallway whole.

In the midst of it all stood a figure, almost still enough to blend into the wreckage.

They barely moved, their silhouette merging with the lingering smoke.

The only sound was the distant hum of machinery, the faint flicker of lights in the aftermath of the fight.

A long moment passed, the air thick with tension.

Then, a muffled sound broke the silence—a breath, slow and deliberate—before the figure finally shifted, standing tall.

As the smoke began to thin, a black-clad figure became clearer.

Their presence was imposing, but there was no grand gesture, no dramatic flair.

They simply stood there, almost waiting, their mask still in place.

The faint hum of a communication device buzzed to life, a voice barely above a whisper.

"H-hello... Azaria... umm... I-I have M-Mineta with me."

The last of the dust drifted away, revealing Azaria standing over the motionless form of Momo.

His posture was rigid, composed—more out of habit than any sense of superiority.

He reached up to remove his mask, breathing in deeply before sneezing, the sound unexpectedly loud in the quiet room.

"Did I… go too far?" His voice was calm, almost neutral, as if assessing the situation from a distance, rather than reveling in the destruction around him.

His eyes, sharp and focused, shifted to Momo, whose face betrayed an unmistakable shock.

Her wide eyes locked onto him as she took in the sight before her—his steady, almost too casual demeanor amidst the wreckage.

Azaria met her gaze, his expression unreadable.

"I'm not as smart as you to make grand plans of the sort so I just try my best to do things the way I can."

He didn't boast or try to appear imposing. He just... looked at her.

"But do you think I overdid it, Momo?" he asked quietly, his voice soft.

There was a moment of stillness between them, Momo's shock still evident.

It wasn't anger or fear that showed in her eyes, but confusion.

She was still processing the sudden change in Azaria.

She wasn't sure if she should be angry, shocked, or impressed.

The Azaria she had known up until this moment was a far cry from the person standing before her.

Her mouth opened slightly, but no words came out.

She was caught in the silence, unsure of how to respond to this version of Azaria.

Azaria didn't wait for an answer. He didn't need to.

He simply let the silence hang in the air, watching her reaction.

"You look surprised," he added, his voice softer but no less piercing.

"I guess... I don't meet expectations, do I?"
