Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 The Gathering Shadows

Heeseung sat at the edge of the rooftop, his eyes scanning the sprawling city below. The sun had just set, casting long shadows across the buildings. A cool breeze stirred his dark hair, but his mind was elsewhere, lost in thoughts he couldn't shake. He had always been different. The power that lay dormant inside him was both a gift and a curse. It made him a target in a world that had long been divided between those with magical abilities and ordinary humans. And now, it seemed that this world was on the brink of something far darker than he could imagine.

His phone buzzed in his pocket, breaking the silence of the moment. He pulled it out and saw a message from Jihoon. "Heeseung, meet me at the old library. I found something important."

With a sigh, Heeseung stood up, his feet steady as he jumped down from the rooftop to the street below. He didn't question Jihoon's urgency—his friend had always been involved in things that others didn't dare touch. Things that might explain the strange events surrounding him lately.

The old library was only a few blocks away, a place full of forgotten history, hidden secrets, and rumors. It was the last place anyone would expect to find something worth risking your life over. Yet, Heeseung had learned that when Jihoon called, it was never for something trivial.

As he walked through the dimly lit streets, Heeseung couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching him. His senses, sharpened by the power inside him, were always on alert, but tonight, something felt different. The air was thick with tension, like a storm was about to break.

When he reached the library, the door creaked open without a sound, as though it had been waiting for him. Inside, the flickering lights barely illuminated the towering shelves of ancient books and scrolls. Jihoon was waiting near the back, his usual calm expression replaced with a rare look of urgency.

"Heeseung," Jihoon began, his voice low, "I found a lead. Something about the Memorabilia."

At the mention of the word, Heeseung's heart skipped a beat. The Memorabilia—legendary artifacts with the power to reshape the world. He had heard whispers of them, but it was said that they were lost to time, kept hidden by powerful beings who understood their dangerous potential.

"Why now?" Heeseung asked, his eyes narrowing. "Why is this suddenly so important?"

Jihoon hesitated, glancing over his shoulder as if making sure no one was listening. "I don't know, but I have a bad feeling. Someone's collecting them. And they're coming for you."

Before Heeseung could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed from behind them. A shadow moved across the dim light, and a figure emerged from the darkness.

Moonhae.

She was a stranger to Heeseung, but there was something undeniably familiar about her eyes. They held secrets—secrets that only someone from his past could understand. She stood still for a moment, her presence filling the room, before speaking with a voice that sent chills down his spine.

"You don't know it yet, but your past is intertwined with the Memorabilia. And if you don't act soon, you'll lose everything."

The room seemed to grow colder, as though the very walls were closing in on them. Heeseung's heart raced. He had no idea what was going on, but one thing was certain—his life was about to change forever.

In that moment, he realized that the gathering shadows were no longer just a metaphor. They were real, and they were coming for him.
