Chapter 12 - Age is just a number

"Hey boys, is there any problem?" [Miss. Madison]

"Oh no Miss. Madison. We're good please." [Garriso]

"Hey, let's run before we get into any trouble, Garriso."

"No, and I don't think it's a good idea, bro."

"Oh really. Hey, come here, but we can run and pretend that we didn't hear her talking to us."

"Oh nope' and have you just forgotten she is the one who is going to help-- us-- to join the high school's football team?"

"Like "demn". Like for real."

"Mmm--hmm". "So, let's wait and face any problem and solve it before it's too late my man." [Garriso]

"So, what are we going to do now bro?"

"Hey young man, did you hear me? Or are you going to take the school bus home?" [Miss. Madison]

"Yes Miss. Madison. We are going to take the school bus home." [Lefah]

"Then let me call the driver and tell him immediately that I'm driving you guys' home today…" [Miss. Madison]

"No! No! No! Miss Madison, we got this, and we are going home with you. Don't worry. We are waiting for you." [Garriso]

"Yeah, and we are waiting for you, Miss Principal. " [Lefah]

"Okay, that's great, and you can wait for me, outside kids."

"Okay." [Both]

"And hey, you can leave the door open. I'm coming right away. " [Miss. Madison]

[Both] "Okay Miss. Madison"

"Hey, we near put ourselves in trouble."

"Yeah bro. So, let's wait for her, so that we won't have any problem."

[Garriso and I went to see Miss Madison, our new high school principal, just to talk about joining the high school's football team. Everything went on successfully. But what I don't understand is that this old lady wants us to go home, wait her. So-- is she trying to help us, or is she up to something different?]

Door closed

"Hey, we gotta go. I'm done kids." [Miss. Madison]

"Okay Miss. Madison."

[Some minutes later]

[Car sounds; horns honking outside]

"Hey, hope you guys are comfortable?" [Miss. Madison]

"Yes, we are, Miss." [Lefah]

"No, I mean do you need anything to drink?" [Miss. Madison]

"Anything to drink?" [Lefah]

"Yeah anything. Maybe coffee, or something sweet. "Mm--hmm" like anything guys." [Miss. Madison]

"No, Miss Principal. We're cool and, besides, this is too much for us please. Nobody knows why you're doing all this, but our house is just right there, and we can take it from here please. " [Lefah]

"Don't mind him, Miss. Madison. But please, why are you doing all this for us? " [Garriso]

"Okay, I understand your friend, Lefah. But I'm just trying to be kind and maybe, if possible, we can be friends. That's all." [Miss. Madison]

"Wow, that's great, Miss. Madison, but we are sorry. We don't want any other friends, just both of us. And you're even much older than us to be friends with us. And we are just 20, and I think you will be more than 40 or?" [Garriso]

[Miss. Madison smiles] "Hey, that's too old for me. Am 38."

"Wow, just like our parents' age." [Lefah]

"Hey, I understand, but just accept only me and forget about my age guys." [Miss Madison]

"And I don't think that'll be possible, Miss. Madison. You're our high school principal." [Lefah]

"Yeah, that's my work and I respect it. But being friends with you boys is nothing." [Miss. Madison]

"Okay, that's fine. We can be friends, Miss. Madison." [Garriso]

"And what about you, young man?" [Miss. Madison]

"Am good Miss. Madison. We can be friends please. " [Lefah]

"Okay, so can we sit somewhere and have a drink because we are friends now." [Miss. Madison]

"Yeah, we would like to have more fun with you, but you know we are already late, and our parents will be waiting for us, so next time please." [Garriso]

"Okay, that's a nice idea and I would like to know more about you guys' next time." [Miss. Madison]

"Okay Miss. Madison." [Garriso]

"So, what's next, Miss? " [Lefah]

"Mm-- don't know, so why don't you show me your house so that I will drive you, home. Maybe I can take this opportunity to find out where you guys are staying. What do you think?" [Miss. Madison]

"Oh, like seriously?" [Lefah]

"Don't mind him, Miss. Madison. I will show you. Just keep driving." [Garriso]

"Oh, my goodness." [Lefah]

[Some minutes later]

[Car stops and door opens and closes]

"Thank you so much Miss. Madison." [Garriso]

"Yeah, see you again tomorrow at school kids." [Miss. Madison]

"Hey, bro, allow her to go. -- Bye -- Miss. Madison." [ Lefah]

"Hey bye." [Miss. Madison]

[Car moves away]

[Lefah laughs.]

"Whoo --- whoo, wait. Like what's really happening bro." [Lefah]

"Hey, just forget about her. You know she's trying to help us with the high school's football team. That's why I wanted you to mind her, bro." [Garriso]

[Lefah laughing]

"Yo" let's get inside bro. But pretending to love someone is not good, bro. If you don't like her, just tell her, but you shouldn't pretend, Garriso. So, we're friends with her now and you know that." [Lefah]

"Yeah, I understand bro. Let's get inside. We are late already." [Garriso]

[Lefah didn't use his extra key to open the door because Miss Anna was already home in the evening.]

[Door opens and closes]

[Miss. Anna was on the phone with Miss. Sophia, her best friend.]

"Hey, ma'am, what's up?" [Lefah]

"Good evening, Miss. Anna." [Garriso ]

"Hey son, auntie Sophia wants to talk to you." [Miss. Anna]

"And whose Auntie Sophie, mom? Please, I will be in my room. See you later after the call Ma'am." [Lefah]

"Hey, will you come back, Lefah." [Miss. Anna]

[Door opens and closes]

"Hmm, I don't know why this boy is like this Sophia. " [Miss. Anna]

["That's fine, and I understand him, Anna. That's how my two daughters are. They never like to talk to any of our relatives and I don't know why these girls are like that."]

"Hmm, I think they really need time to learn, my dear."

["Maybe, Anna."]

"So, when are you coming to visit us home, Sophia?"
