Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Shadow Rises

As Auns sat at the breakfast table, a sudden chill ran down his spine, and a feeling of unease washed over him. His instincts kicked in, and he could sense a danger lurking nearby. With his eyes darting around the room, he could sense a malevolent presence that was drawing closer.

"Something's not right," Auns muttered under his breath.

His muscles tensing as he prepared for a potential attack. He could feel the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end, and his heartbeat quickened as he tried to pinpoint the source of the threat.

Lucius noticed Auns' change in demeanor and picked up on his unease. The kid couldn't help but ask, "Hey, are you alright? You seem kinda tense."

Auns took a deep breath, trying to keep his cool in front of their new neighbors.

"Yeah, I'm fine," he reassured Lucius, "Just feeling a bit uneasy, that's all."

"Are you really fine Auns" Jome and his wife ask as he concern about his well-being.

"YES, ofcourse!" Auns said while sweating.

Auns closed his eyes and concentrated on using his power. Using the shadows that were already around him, he reached out and spread them outward, trying to feel any disturbances in the area.

The shadows stretching and snaking their way around the city without known, searching for the source of the malevolent presence that he had sensed earlier. Auns sent his senses out with the shadows, probing the area for any hint of danger.

Auns's senses focused intently on something outside the city that he had sensed with his shadows. Something big and dangerous. His mind worked quickly as he recognized a great power emit from the creature. Without a doubt, he realized that the cultists were involved in this somehow.

"FUCK! Here? In this city? Are they that desperate to be famous?" He thought.

Auns's heart raced as he contemplated their next move. He had to find a way to deal with the monster and the cultists without putting the innocent people of the city in danger.

But even before Auns finished contemplating his next move, a monster and those cultists burst into the city in a sudden and aggressive invasion. Their approach was swift and unexpected, leaving no time for further planning.

Thump! Boom!

The city was plunged into chaos as the monster and the cultist wreak havoc in its wake. Screams and cries filled the air as the city dwellers fled in panic, desperately trying to get to safety.

"Ahhhhhh!" The scream of other attacked citizen

"What is happening!" Jome said as the anxiety rush to him.

He rush to see outside of his house and its a chaos!

"its seem a monster has invade the city." Auns said with calm voice.

Jome's face paled as the news of the invasion sunk in.

"What? A monster? In our city?" he exclaimed, his panic palpable.

Meanwhile, Auns's demeanor remained calm, almost unperturbed by the unfolding chaos. He continued eating as if the invasion was a mere inconvenience, not worthy of much attention.

He stoped eating and said that "Please run and took Lucius with you and take a shelter in the east, it safe there."

Jome was taken aback by Auns's sudden command to flee and seek shelter in the east.

"The east? What do you mean? Why? How do you know it's safe there?" he asked, his confusion evident.

Auns paused for a moment, his face darkened with a mix of determination and a hint of a secret.

"Just trust me," he replied, his voice stern and unequivocal.

"Get Lucius and Maria and go. Now!"

Jome was confused but he decided to trust him.

"What about you!" Lucius ask as he looked at Auns with genuine concern etched on his face. His young heart was filled with worry for him

"But what about you?" he repeated, his voice trembling slightly.

"You can't face that monster alone! It's dangerous! You could get hurt..."

Lucius's concern for Auns was evident in his voice, but Auns simply chuckled in response.

"Oh, this face?" Auns replied, gesturing to his serious expression. "I guess I have my moments."

"That was truly unexpected, i didn't know you could make that face." Auns said while smilling.

With a casual shrug, he continued, "Don't worry about me. Just get to safety, both of you. I'll handle things here."

In the midst of the urgency, Auns and Lucius shared a brief moment of levity and made a promise to each other.

"Hey, remember, you have to stay safe and come back alive, ok?" Lucius said, his voice tinged with concern

Auns nodded, "Sure, sure. You better too, alright?"

Auns watched as Jome, Maria, and Lucius headed east towards safety. Once he was sure they were out of the city, he turned his attention to the immediate threat of the monster invading the city. He quickly donned a hood, concealing his face with its shadows.

With a deep breath, Auns began making his way through the chaotic streets, towards the location of the monster.

The monster that Auns encountered resembled the menacing creature he had seen in his dream, only now it was no longer confined to his nightmares. Stalking the streets, the creature loomed large and fearsome, its imposing presence casting long, menacing shadows.

Its form was monstrous and brutish, its body covered in a thick and rough hide as dark as the night itself. Its eyes gleamed with malevolence, the gaze of a predator seeking its next target.

"Aishhh, it much worse than i expected!" Auns sigh

Hey voice, what do you think i need to do?" He ask.

"Well, it's definitely not the friendly type," the voice murmured dryly. "Looks like you'll have to think fast if you want to survive this one. And... deal with it yourself! BYE!" The voice in his mind responded.

Auns let out a frustrated sigh as the voice abruptly ended their conversation. He cursed under his breath, realizing that he was on his own.

"Great, just as I need advice, it decides to dip. Brilliant." Auns muttered sarcastically.

As Auns approached the monster, his mind quickly assessed the situation. The monster's sheer size and menacing appearance made it a formidable opponent. He knew that a direct physical confrontation would likely end poorly for him.

Instead, Auns decided to rely on his cunning and wit. He observed the creature's movements, its pattern and behavior, trying to find a weakness to exploit.

Auns took a moment to steady himself and concentrate on his powers. Shadows danced around him as he channeled his power of shadow manipulation.

"You need to focus Auns, you can do it" He said while slaping both of his cheeks

With a deep breath, he unleashed a barrage of shadowy tendrils towards the monster, attempting to ensnare it and immobilize its movements.

Auns's attack was a coordinated onslaught of shadowy tendrils flying towards the monster like tentacles, seeking to entangle it and restrict its movement. The shadows wrapped around the monster's limbs, trying to pin it down.

However, the monster's strong and resistant hide proved to be a challenge. While the shadows did manage to slow the monster down for a brief moment, they didn't inflict any significant damage to the creature's tough exterior.

Frustrated yet undeterred, Auns quickly realized that his initial strategy of using shadows to restrain the monster was not working. The creature's tough hide was proving to be a formidable obstacle.

Realizing that he needed to change tactics, Auns paused for a moment, trying to come up with a new plan. He scanned the surroundings for something he could use to his advantage.

"What do i need to do now?" He said as using 100% of his brain to think.

At the same time, he also realized that the people from the EVELIN association arrived and is attacking the cultist.

"Atleast i don't need to think about those cultist attacking me." He said

Auns's gaze darted around, taking in the cityscape around him. He needed to think fast.

"Just what is it that can help me right now! FUCK! Think fast Auns!" He said as he brainstorming idea.

He noticed a nearby building with its roof covered in thick, heavy stones. An idea began to form in his mind. Maybe he could use those stones against the monster.

Taking advantage of the monster's current entanglement with the shadows, Auns quickly shifted his focus. He directed his powers at the nearby building, the one with the roof covered in heavy stones.

"Eerghhh!" He grumbling in pain.

With a concerted effort, Auns called upon his power to lift the stones from the roof using the shadows. Once he had gathered enough stones, he lifted them high into the air, preparing to bring them crashing down on the immobilized monster.

Auns steeled himself as he commanded the stones to descent upon the monster with devastating force. The stones plummeted from the sky, creating a rain of destruction as they slammed down onto the monster's exposed and immobilized body.

"You better fucking die stupid monster" Auns said as he hoped he already killed it.

The EVELIN Association's people was speechless by his power.

Elrand thought "Isn it....that man?"

"Hey Elrand, what do you think you are doing stood still there, you should be prioritize the citizen safety!" Lockheart said.

"Each team will spread out and kill all those cultist and if you leave ONE escaped, you will take responsible for that!" He continued.

Yes sir!" They said while saluting.

"And don't involve yourself with 'that' fight if you don't want to die! Stay as far as you can from it." Lockheart said again.

A loud and deafening crash echoed through the area as the stones impacted, their weight and velocity causing significant damage to the monster's hide.

The force of the impact dazed the monster for a brief moment. The stones had inflicted considerable harm on its exterior, leaving its hide battered and bruised from the onslaught.

"FUCK! It didn't die yet!" Auns said while complaining why is that monster so tough.

Auns seized this opportunity to prepare his next move. Sensing the monster's vulnerability, he focused all his effort on gathering his powers and channeled them into creating a massive sword made entirely of shadows.

"You better die this time!" He shouted.

The sword grew exponentially, towering over everything in sight and casting a massive shadow across the city ready to continue the attack and potentially finish the creature off

Onlookers gasped in awe and bewilderment, their eyes wide as they witnessed the incredible display of power unfolding before them.

"Just what is….HE!" Lockheart thought as he was bewildered.

Even the monster momentarily paused, taken aback by the sheer size and magnitude of the shadowy sword.

With a powerful and precise strike, Auns impaled the monster with the colossal shadow sword, its blade piercing through the creature's body and bringing an end to its rampage.

The city, once a thriving hub of activity, had now been reduced to a desolate landscape of chaos and destruction. The streets were littered with debris and shattered buildings, some still smoldering from the battle's aftermath.

The monster's blood, a deep black and viscous substance, pooled in the streets, staining the cobblestone and leaving a trail of darkness in its wake. The once-bright light of the city was now obscured by thick clouds of smoke, casting a solemn and melancholic atmosphere over everything.

Auns rushed through the devastated city, his heart heavy with worry. The once-vibrant streets now lay in ruin, and the air was thick with the stench of smoke and destruction.

Once the threat was neutralized, Auns quickly dispersed the enormous sword. He ran, his footsteps echoing through the empty streets.

He vanished from sight, hurrying towards the east to where Lucius was supposed to be. His heart raced as he approached, his mind filled with concern and anticipation.
