Chapter 1 - The Sword of Aiges

The dust cloud could be seen for miles, rising, as the army marched, heaving out their battle cry with every breath.

The ground trembling beneath the hoofs of the cavalry. The king rode with them, cladded in full armor, he raised his blade bring the army to a halt just by the river.

But the trembling doesn't cease and soon, out of the horizon another army, the army of Orbion, raising the crest of the silver dragon.

They meet by the river, both kings in front, war seems the only thing on their minds.

Over the night a fair lady sleeps, her flowing white hair flushed over her fair face. Out of the shadow the hand of a woman appeared, placing a finger lightly on her forehead, the shadow began speaking, reciting a few words of an ancient tongue.

The hand caught fire, with bright blue flames that didn't seem to hurt the sleeping lady and when it was through, The shadow snatched aways the blanket about her and replaced it with one bearing the symbol of a silver dragon.

The bloodied flags of langdon, flung high bearing a red crest of a three headed dragon. See this disgusted king Forge . He wanted nothing more but his adversaries head.

The two armies stopped a few leagues from the river. King Forge, the king of Orbion, let out a loud horn, silencing his army. King Irinir moved to the front of his army on horseback.

Forge! You barbarian, how dare you!

How dare me!, the king of Orbion immediately races to the river banks. When he got close enough to be heard by irinir, he screams back

Me a barbarian, Irinir who had been pacing the river banks on his horse turned to him

How dare you, you shameless oaf, how dare you curse my daughter, how dare you curse my queen

The king is taken aback. What! Have you gone mad? To accuse me of your very crime. He turned red with anger.

Forge! today I'll have your head.

No it's I who will have your head, you've defiled my home, you devil, it's time I rid you from this world, once and for all.

King irinir seethe with rage. Me a devil? And yet it was you, who cast my daughter into a deathless slumber and drape you very own covers around her! today you die

Is he mocking me, king Forge wonders. It must be , he cursed my wife and daughter to a deep sleep and had covers bearing his crest draped around them. This has gone too far, you take my land, you slay my men, but this, this just has gone too far. It ends here and If you die then maybe your curse dies with you.

The king of Orbion walked away from view of his adversary but left parting world

I truly now know how evil you are, Irinir.

Me evil? His blood boiled at the remark.

They ordered their armies to battle, both armies crashed at each other like two bulls. Soon the battle cries turned into screams of anguish and wailing. The crash of splintering shields, the clanging of steel against steel. The men toppled over each other in the river so many drowned in the mess.

The two kings charged at each other . Hate lining their very faces, as they thrust out their spears. The clattering of hooves, the cry of the arm all behind them.

Then a green flash of lightning, the sky turned back, it's stuck in front of them, their horses recoiled backwards.

A bale of green fire burned in mid air.

What's this Forge ? Another one of your tricks

I assure you it's not, a voice spoke from within the fire. The fire twisted around and in flash it turned black and out of the burning blackness the face of a woman appeared but only revealing her lower face with her eyes obscure.

It was I who cursed them, the princesses..

What!? both kings cried

.. and the queen off course, she sensed me.

You witch! King Forge screama throwing his spear at her, as it hits the fire it burns to ash almost instantly.

If you listen to me, I'll tell you how you'll save your princess.

How could we trust after all, and why have you done this to begin with, king Irinir said. What is it you want

This isn't my will, it's the will of King Diermo, you want to know him as the demon king.

What?

What are you saying? The demon king is dead, I slayed him with these very hands

Whether you believe me or not matters very little. The curse I've laid on your heirs can only be broken by one thing, not even killing me will break this curse for its energy is derived from the life force of its host. Ingenious isn't it, I love to take credit but this was lords doing.

The only way you'll ever break this curse…she draws out her left arm from the fire…. is by retrieving the sword of aiges, from gilgamesh…

The kings gasp

She's points to the sky

..In the dungeons of heaven

You witch! how could you, you know the dungeons are sacred to us, they're worshiped, how dare you!

And besides it's near impossible to get through the fifth level, let alone to gilgamesh.

What dirty work, would you have us do, you'll have us retrieve the sword so your lord will use it to enslave us all, is that it?. Irinir.

She chuckles. The sword of ages capable of countering any curse, it's the only cure for you daughters, will you rest on your laurels why they sleep away the rest of their lives or would you go to gilgamesh, free your daughter and wield the greatest weapon the world has ever known. The fires quickly fade away with her living her final words

Which will be noble kings?

The two kings looked in great distress, their fighting spirits quailed, they turned away and with them, their armies.

One year later

An awful stench field the air, coupled with swelling of a green mist. It's smells like rotting rats and pungent enough to trigger gag reflexes

Oh god, he retched. I can taste it.

Stay on your guard paladin, the knight in front of him says

He retched again and quickly takes his helmet off. He throws up on the floor.

The knight in front of him shakes his head, a bit disappointed

Why do they always give me the worst ones

Then there's a loud growl, it shifts the mist around and causing the walls and floor to tremble.

Judging by the mist, it could be a boss,or several bosses. The knight says.

Listen up! he turns by to his squad

you all better play your roles, you hear me and stand your ground no matter what.

Wizard! get over here

It's Reece, the young boy says. He walks to him

You'll stand front and centred

Hey! Why me!

We all have our roles right, well yours is to blast those zombies away, when they come

What! Zombies!

Yeah I thought you all knew

The rest of the four members of his squad began murmuring amongst themselves

Nothing will happen to you, we've got your back. Right, guys?

They don't hear him as they continue talking amongst themselves

I said! Right guy!

Yeah, yeah yeah. They all say

What are we agreeing to again? The paladin asks.

The sighs. Amateurs.

Alright the rest of you!, they hear several little growls in the distance, within the foggy mist.

Alright, get ready, here they come.

The Paladin draws out his sword, the wizard puts out his staff gripping it tightly, the elf his bow and the healer stands guard, while the barbarian raised his axe

Is it time for battle,

Yes, hold your ground, the knight says. The barbarian runs past him screaming a battle cry.

What are you doing!, the knight yells, barbarian! Don't run in.

Wizard! Do something,

It's Reece, I what can I do

Pull him back he'll get kill

Oh! yeah!, he tries to cast the spell on the barbarian but he runs out of reach and into the mist

The knight hits himself on the head in anger, sounds of axe cutting against flesh cut can be heard from deep within the mist.

Why couldn't they just let me choose my own squad? Why?

Wow, he's really making good work off them, the paladin says. At this rate we'll get through this level without a swe..

A loud cry caught him off

… What's that!

They hear the gnashing of teeth against flesh, the barbarian cries for help

That's why don't run in! He screams at the rest of them. Blood thirty idiot. He'll be coming after us soon, so be on your guard. He says in a very carefree way

What do you mean? The wizard says a bit frightened

He'll be zombified, you're supposed to know this, didn't any of you take basic training

Yeah, yeah, yeah, they all respond.

Zombification is the process whereby one who was not a zombie became one, the healer says, seeming a bit too proud of himself.

The knight sighs, their every word irritating him.

Ten points for captain obvious over there.

Lets go in, come on. The knight runs in and the paladin and elf joins him. The wizard, although reluctant, joins in with the rest. While the healer stayed back keep his distance.

The red glowing eyes of zombies appeared all around them, the knight flings his sword, cutting them in half, the wizard blasts a couple away, his hands trembling, the body of his staff covered in sweat. The elf shoots multiple arrow but is unaware of the zombie behind him in the misty blackness.

It lunges at him and he manages to turn, just in time to block with his bow. He struggles with the zombie, it gnarls, biting down on the wooden bow. He pushes it aside but refuses to give him space to set his arrows. It grabs him by the arm breaking it, the elf screams in pain. It goes in for the bite. A blur of silver flashed before his eyes. The head of the zombie falls off. The paladin puts out his hand for him.

Are you okay, he says to the elf archer.

The elf pants heavily, he nods in relief. The paladin smiles. .

A heavy wind brushes the elf golden locks. Pushing the mists away. Blood splatters everywhere, the elf screams as the top half of paladin falls on his lap

No!

Blood drips off the axe of the barbarian, he growls loudly, his eyes burning red.

No, he's been zombified, the zombie barbarian raises his axe to cut him down. His one good arm reaches for his arrows, as the axe comes down, the flash of it fills his eyes and then.

The resonance clashing steel fills the air as the knight blocks the barbarians strike.

He holds his sword at both ends owing to the barbarian's strength.

The barbarian growls, drawing back his axe and quickly swinging down again, he blocks it but this time buckling on the force of the impact . The knight looks down and sees, his feet are covered in the blood of his paladin.

Damn I didn't even know his name, I hoped that they'd live long enough to get past this level .

He looks up, the blood red eyes of the barbarian glared back at him, he growls at him.

Shut up!

The barbarian draws back its axe, it lets out a violent growl.

Yeah come on bring it!

He swings from the left this time, the knight's eyes glow a faint yellow, his sword is instantly covered in ice. He deflect the axes, the babarings lunges in for another strike, this time from the top trying to chop him in half

He deflects the strike causing the barbarian to resort to wild swings, he parries away all his final attacks. Creating an opening in the process. He goes in for the strike, trying to cut off the barbarians head. The elf screams.

The knight turns he sees the dismembered body of the paladin moving on the lap of the frozen elf,

It's zombified!

With the knight distracted, the barbarian swings at him, the axe crashes at his side, sending him flying. He crashes into the walls.

The elf's reaches for his arrows, his hands trembling, he grabs one out of the quilt and stabs the paladin in the eye . He sees the barbarian, he roars raising the axe above his head.

His eyes glared in fear, his instincts urging him to flee but his legs won't move. I'm gonna die.

The axe drops.
