Jamila, as the narrator: Ten years ago, my country was attacked by the Dark Orbs. Yusuke Orbussia's Leader led an attack that killed everyone in Orbfrica. It was his first genocide. My father died. I escaped just in time with my mom we fled to the human world in hopes of finding a better life.
(Jamila's Story).
(In the human world in Chicago in the apartment).
Waking up immediately after having a dream about the nightmare that occurred ten years ago.
Jamila: It's just a dream...
With tears streaming down her face, she closed her eyes, then glanced over at the clock to see that she was running late for school.
Jamila: Oh no!
She quickly got dressed in a panic, wondering why her mom hadn't woken her up, and then looked up at the calendar to realize it was Saturday.
Jamila: That's why...
She was about to leave the room when she heard noises coming from downstairs, including gunshots that made her step back in fear. A scream that sounded eerily like her mother's followed, causing her to hesitate before mustering the courage to go downstairs. As she descended the stairs slowly, she stopped dead in her tracks upon seeing a trail of blood. Her body began to tremble uncontrollably as she feared the worst: that it was her mom.
Jamila: ...
She moved slowly down the stairs, but quickly caught sight of a group of gunmen, identifiable by their gang colors. She hid immediately, but couldn't help looking down to see her mom's lifeless body, shattered by an instant death. Tears streamed down her face as she gazed at her mom, surrounded by a dark purple energy that seemed to emanate from her body. Her eyes transformed from blue to dark purple, and she slowly emerged from the shadows, revealing herself to the looting gunmen.
Jamila: You'll pay for what you have done!
The gunmen immediately trained their guns on the teenage girl, but their fingers hesitated on the triggers as they noticed that there was something unusual about her, something that set her apart from the average teenage girl.
The gunman: An Orb it's one of those freaks!
Putting his hand up to single his group of gunmen to start shooting at her. The gunmen immediately pull the trigger and begin to shoot at her. Bullets flew towards her in seconds.
Jamila: Shoot yourselves.
The bullets suddenly ricocheted back and struck the gunmen with deadly precision, causing blood to splatter across the floors and walls. In a shocking turn of events, the gunmen ultimately killed themselves with their own bullets.
Jamila: ...
As she gazed down at the lifeless bodies, her mother's in particular, her energy drained away, and she fell unconscious. Hours passed before she came to in a hospital bed.
Jamila: Where am I?
As she scans the room, memories come flooding back - the scent of blood, the shattered life force, and the day Orb Africa vanished, taking her father's life with it, and, more painfully, her mother's. Tears fall silently as she covers her face, a sudden flashback searing itself into her mind.
(Flashback).
The moon's color suddenly shifts to an ominous pitch black, surrounded by a dark purple ring that seems to glow with an otherworldly energy. As people begin to die under mysterious circumstances, soldiers emerge from the shadows, ruthlessly killing anyone in their path. At the helm of this chaos is a man who appears to be leading the soldiers.
(End of Flashback).
Jamila: Why now?
She gently bumps her head, attempting to shake off the memories of the day that changed her life ten years ago. However, the recollection of her mother's passing proves too overwhelming, and she begins to tear up. Her gaze falls upon a small table beside her, where a worn notebook lies, instantly bringing back memories of her mother. She slowly reaches for the notebook, her fingers wrapping around it as she pulls it closer. As she opens the cover, she's met with a wave of nostalgia, realizing that it's a wishlist of all the things her mother had hoped to do. Her eyes land on a note, penned in her mother's familiar handwriting, and she feels a lump form in her throat.
The note: Jamila, I know we promised not to go back, but I found a place better than the human world. We shall take a journey to Orbmerica. It will be much safer than human America. It is a perfect place for both of us.
Jamila: Orbmerica...
(In her mind).
"That's in Orb World but do I have the guts to go back there? However, my mom wants to go back there. Especially to a place I have no clue how to get there but I have to try for my mother's dream."
As she hugs the notebook, she tears up.
"Mommy."
(Out of her mind).
Suddenly hearing the door open, she looked up to see a police officer entering the room.
Daniel: My name is Daniel and I know what you are an Orb. I have a son who's an Orb but he's not here anymore.
He speaks in a friendly manner, attempting to make small talk in order to put her at ease.
Jamila: What happened to him?
She gazes at him, puzzled about what became of his son.
Daniel: He thought that he was a monster and he left...
He looks down, a sad expression washing over him as he recalls the day he left.
Jamila: What's his name?
She looks at him, wondering what his son's name is.
Daniel: His name is Akira.
His eyes welled up with tears as he thought about his son.
Jamila: Don't cry. He'll come back.
(In her mind).
"Maybe I'll meet Akira one day and maybe to ask him to come back to this man."
(Out of her mind).
Daniel: Thanks.
He smiles at her.
Jamila: ...
She smiles at him right back.
Jamila: I have been wondering something I want to go back to Orb World. I found my mom's wishlist. She wanted to go to Orbmerica. So I want to go to Orbmerica.
She whispers softly, clinging tightly to the notebook as tears well up in her eyes at the thought of her mother.
Daniel: You're still a child you can't go off on your own.
He looks at her calmly yet concerned over her well being.
Jamila: I have to for my Mother's dream...
She looks down sadly.
Daniel: Then I'll escort you to the portal but I don't know where you would end up and that's the scary part.
One hour later, Jamila stood nervously behind him at the portal that had appeared right in front of them, apprehensive about returning to Orb World where the man who had killed her entire people resided.
Jamila: ...
Trembling with fear, she gazed at the portal that led to Orb World, her heart racing with the uncertainty of where it would teleport her - she desperately hoped it would be Orbmerica, rather than one of the other Orb countries.
Daniel: Everything will be okay.
He gives her a gentle smile as he pats her head.
Jamila: Okay. Here I go...
She steps into the portal, her eyes squeezed tightly shut, and when she opens them again, she's met with a blanket of snow. As she looks up, her gaze falls upon the Orbussia's flag, its familiar emblem a stark reminder of the day Orbussia launched a devastating attack on Orbfrica. Her heart sinks at the sight, memories of that fateful day flooding back.
(In her mind).
"No way."
(Out of her mind).
She gazes at the Orbussia's flag with a look of dread in her eyes.
Jamila, as the narrator: And with that my journey has begun.
She stood quietly, her gaze fixed on the flag as she covered her face with her hands, trying not to be noticed by the passersby. She glanced up slightly, catching sight of military personnel patrolling the area, their uniforms a vivid reminder of memory etched clear as day in her mind. Walking away slowly, pretending to blend in with the crowd, she tried to appear as if she were a citizen here, all the while fighting the urge to flee. She didn't want any trouble from them, even though the fear that was kicking in was threatening to overwhelm her. Deep down, she desperately wanted to run away, to escape the uncertainty and danger that seemed to be lurking around every corner.
Jamila: ...
She stays quiet after noticing a soldier pointing at her, his eyes fixed on her since he first spotted her in the crowd. She wonders why he's singling her out, his gaze making her feel uneasy and self-conscious.
(In her mind).
"He's watching me but why?"
(Out of her mind).
She takes a step back, her eyes widening in alarm, as she begins to sprint away from the danger that's unfolding. The sound of an alarm fills the air, and more soldiers emerge from their hiding spots, joining the chase. She darts a fearful glance over her shoulder, and her heart sinks as she sees a sea of determined faces, all of them driven by an unknown motivation to capture her.
The alarm could sense if there are illegal immigrants in the area by scanning the faces. The soldiers in the area keep peace in towns and cities. Orbussia is tied with Orbmerica in a secured border and border wall. The alarms go off loud, warning people that there's an illegal immigrant in the area. More soldiers begin to appear, already locating the illegal.
Jamila: Go Away!
With an unsettling aura, she inadvertently spread bad luck everywhere, causing the soldiers to stumble and make mistakes. Her heart was racing with every beat, yet she still had no idea of what was happening. She ran as she heard the sound of footsteps closing in behind her, and before she knew it, someone had swooped in and lifted her up, cradling her in a romantic bridal-style position. She tilted her head back to see a handsome Caucasian teenage boy with striking blonde hair and piercing light blue eyes gazing down at her, a gentle smile on his face. Her cheeks flushed a delicate pink as she looked up at him, feeling a flutter in her chest.
Dimitri: Don't worry I got you.
He smiles warmly at her as he sweeps her into his arms, shielding her from the danger that had threatened to engulf her, and using his dark energy to teleport them instantly to the safety of his apartment.
A security camera swiftly pans across the area, capturing a closer look at the shocking event that just unfolded.
(At the Dark Orb Castle in the office).
The video suddenly appeared, revealing to the King of Orbussia the shocking events that had just unfolded in a certain town. The footage showed his soldiers struggling to maintain control, as they were being manipulated by an unknown energy source. Moreover, the video captured a striking image of a dark-skinned girl with piercing bluish eyes, seemingly controlling the mysterious energy.
(Dark Orb King).
Yusuke: Hmm I thought I killed all of them.
(In his mind).
"Who would've thought a Bad Luck Orb would eventually come to my Kingdom? Is she here to exact revenge? Doubt it since a few percent of women in Orb World could beat up a man. So why is she here?"
Gathering a mere one percent of his energy, his brown eyes underwent a sudden transformation, shifting to a deep, rich purple as his power began to stir.
"Well, time to go hunting."
He pulled out his scythe, the same one he had used in the four genocides he had committed, its blade worn and stained from the countless lives it had claimed.
(Out of his mind).
(At the Apartment).
Dimitri: I think we lost them.
He gazes out the window, momentarily distracted from his task of drawing the curtains. His attention shifts to the calm demeanor of a teenage girl with dark skin, who sits nearby.
Jamila: Why did you save me?
She looks at him with confusion, wondering why he saved her when they're complete strangers.
Dimitri: Orbussia's code is to protect women from distress. My King says to protect women and respect them since one day they might be your future wife one day. By the way, why is your skin so dark?
He gazes at her with a warm smile, his light blue eyes sparkling with a gentle glow.
Jamila: Cause I'm Orbfrican... Or used to be...
She regarded him calmly, yet she couldn't bring herself to be angry with him since he wasn't the one responsible for destroying Orbfrica.
Dimitri: I heard about that in Orb History it's heartbreaking.
He looks at her calmly even though he knows what his King is like. Ruthless and Unkind. However, his tone was caring. He hears footsteps coming into the room and turns to see his brothers.
Andrey: Brother? You brought a girl here?
He says it enthusiastically, holding his pistols with both hands.
Alexei: Why is her skin color so dark? What she been out in the sun for so long?
He prepares for his next acting role, he observes her, trying to tap into the mindset of a teenage actor.
Dimitri: She's Orbfrican...
He says it with a smile.
Jamila: That's right... I'm probably the last one...
She looks at them but noticed the boy who's holding the pistols seems intrigue about it.
Andrey: That's wonderful news. Now Orbussia has there very first black person. This is delightful news.
He says it happily.
Jamila: I'm not staying in Orbussia. I'm heading to Orbmerica.
She looks at him calmly.
Andrey: That's also good news I always wanted to go to Orbmerica. Let's go together!
This will continue in the next chapter.
