Chereads / Traces in Photos / Chapter 8 - Epilogue

Chapter 8 - Epilogue

A few months later, Arlan returned to the small village. This time, he brought something—a new tombstone with the name Salsabila engraved on it.

He asked the villagers for permission to place it on Bukit Janji, where the memories of love began. With the help of several residents, he replaced the old, worn-out tombstone with a new one.

"Salsabila

Remembered by a sailor and a child looking for traces of love."

After the tombstone was standing, Arlan sat in front of the tombstone, placing a photo of his father with Salsabila there. He felt like he was uniting two souls that had been separated by time.

That afternoon, Arlan stood on the hill, watching the sun slowly set on the horizon. He knew that his journey was over, but this story did not end here. He promised to preserve this legacy of love, to keep it in his memories and perhaps share it with future generations.

When he came down from the hill for the last time, he felt lighter. He left traces of his father's love in that small village, but he brought home a great lesson: that true love is not always about possessing, but about how it continues to live in the hearts of those who love.

And for Arlan, that love is now a part of him.
