Chapter 4 - Horror In The Woods

"And what do you mean by, you think that she ran away?!" Alexander furiously questioned the guard.

The guard knew he dared not think about explaining to Alexander what he meant by that statement. Alexander instructed them to keep an eye on Andreina and now he was being told that she had escaped?

"What sort of incompetence should a human outwit you people?!" Alexander sparked in vicious anger. Those guards were only lucky that Wiz was there to calm Alexander down. They could have received the harshest punishment ever.

"What are you still waiting for? Go! Find her! She can not get far on her own!" Van Basten, Alexander's uncle, yelled at the guards who were standing there, looking confused.

"No, I am going to get her myself." Alexander spoke. "I don't want to risk anything."

But there was a problem. Even though vampires could pick up trails by scenting the wind, that night was a night that marked a great festival of the werewolves. It was extremely risky for Alexander to be out there by himself in the night. He also knew that Andreina would try to leave their territory and head into the werewolves territory. It was a full moon and the werewolves would be stronger than their usual selves.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Van Basten asked. "You know tonight is a full moon, right?"

"I do, but it is going to take more than some cowards who wait for a certain period before they can display their power to cause harm to me. Besides, I am going to make sure Andreina never gets to leave our territory. That is why I have to go now." Alexander did not even wait for Wiz to give a reply. He sped off like the wind.

Andreina was getting closer to the Border line between the Vampires and werewolves. She could see the moon revealing itself more and more until it became completely round. Andreina was putting on the cloth that Alexander gave to her.

"KRKKK!"

Andreina heard a branch in the thick woods break.

"Is anyone there?" She asked with trembling eyes. "Please, if anyone is there, then I urgently need your help." Andreina said after she got no response.

Andreina's eyes scouted her surroundings in seconds, but all she could see was complete darkness. She had a torchlight with her, but she did not have the courage to turn it on at this point. Then, she heard footsteps approaching her from behind, very quickly. Andreina could feel the vibration on the ground. Whatever it was, it had strong feet and was pretty very fast.

Andreina did not wait to find out what or who it was, she began running deeper into the woods and moving closer into the vampire territory. She was extremely terrified as she tried to find somewhere safe to hide.

"Ouch!"

Andreina screamed as she hit the floor. A very sharp leaf had cut her dress and penetrated her arm. There was blood flowing out of the cut. Then, Andreina began to hear various sounds of howling and they were extremely loud and scary.

The werewolf border patrol guards had detected her. But it was not easy to find her because of the fragrance she wore on her body.

Yes, Andreina knew a few tricks to prevent vampires and werewolves from picking up her scent. It was achievable with some herbs which were given to her by her father a few weeks before his death. Now, Andreina realized why he gave it to her. The full moon was finally out. Andreina had heard of so many stories that those herbs do not work on high ranking werewolves during the full moon. She could only hope that no high ranking werewolf was among the patrol guard.

"She is injured! There is no way she is going to make it far!" Andreina heard one of the werewolf patrol guards say. She peeped a bit from where she was hiding behind a large fallen tree branch. Andreina could see up to five patrol guards. They were bare bodied from their waist upwards and their bodies were covered with wolf-like furs. They weren't even trying to shape shift, that was how powerful they were under a full moon. They could shape shift halfway without even trying and they were stronger and bigger wolves when they transformed.

"Do you smell that?" One of the patrol guards said.

Andreina's heart began to palpitate. It was almost jumping out of her mouth. Her pores were producing more sweat.

"A vampire royal cloth." They said as they spotted a piece of Andreina's cloth that was torn off. One of the werewolf patrol guards tasted the blood and told the rest that it does not belong to a vampire.

"It tastes like one of our own." Another guard said. "But at the same time, it does not." He added.

What did he mean by that?

Andreina's mind flipped a lot of questions, but the panic surging through her veins could not let her think straight. She was extremely scared that they might think she was a vampire and harm her. Andreina regretted not taking off that Royal attire worn by Vampire Queens. The truth was that she did not have the time to do that.

"Whoever it is, the person must still be here. I can sense it." One of the guards said.

Adreina gently squeezed some more of the herbs and applied the liquid on her skin. She was also beginning to lose a lot of blood due to the cut she sustained. Andreina tried her best to stop the blood from flowing. She was planning on going to the werewolves to avoid getting married to Alexander Marco, but now she realized that with the royal gown she was putting on, they might likely do more harm to her than Alexander could ever have.

"I have to find my way back to the palace." Andreina said as she stood up to leave.

As Andreina turned to leave, she saw a dark figure standing right behind her. The reddish eyes were the only thing she could see.
