The morning had risen over Paris, a city where the future seemed to vibrate in every street, every building. Ren stood in front of a modern, spacious room, his heart pounding. It wasn't the first time he found himself in a futuristic environment, but today he was about to take a decisive step in his Dasher career.
Today, he would become part of a team, and not just any team: The Nexus Shards.
Lyra had informed him that today he would finally learn the official rules of the competitions and meet the members of the main team. It was an opportunity to solidify his foundation, understand the scope of the challenge, and begin to carve out his place among the best. He knew that, although his potential was recognized, there was still much to prove.
As he entered the room, Ren noticed Lyra standing in front of a large holographic table, where a three-dimensional map of the arena floated, surrounded by multiple holograms of avatars and team logos. Beside her were three Dashers, all focusing on their exoskeletons with the Nexus Shards team logo.
Lyra : "Gather up, everyone,"
she said in a firm, commanding voice. All eyes turned toward her.
Ren joined the assembly, feeling both excited and nervous.
Lyra fixed her piercing gaze on each face in the room.
Lyra : "Today, you'll understand the rules of this sport in more detail, but also what it represents. Hyper Dash is more than just a competition. It's a blend of strategy, strength, and pure performance. You will be judged on every move, every decision, and every battle."
She swept her hand over the holograms.
Lyra : "Here's the structure of the competitions. Matches are divided into two phases: regional qualifications and the world series. The qualifications are tournaments where teams face off in modular arenas, but the World Series is the pinnacle of the sport. Teams compete in three-dimensional arenas, each with its own dangers and mechanisms. It's not just about speed. You'll need to adapt to a constantly evolving terrain. And once every four years, there's the international cup, where teams from different countries face off."
Ren listened attentively, absorbing every word. He knew the rules of Hyper Dash were complex, but the scope of the challenge impressed him even more.
Lyra continued, "Teams are made up of four players, grouped into three main roles: Collectors, Guardians, and Sighters. The Collectors' job is to gather Nexus Crystals in the arena and bring them back to their team's zone. The Guardian's role is to prevent other teams from attacking their Collectors or intercepting enemy Collectors. Lastly, the Sighter is the one who guides the team, analyzes enemy movements, and sets up action plans."
She paused, scanning each team member.
Lyra: "Roles can change over time, but everyone must be capable of performing multiple functions depending on the situation. You must help each other, and that means having a perfect understanding of your teammates and the environment."
Ren felt a bit lost. Collector, Guardian, Sighter… What role would he fit into? He wasn't experienced enough to be a Sighter, and his combat skills were lacking. But he had an instinct for quick movements and aerial maneuvers. Maybe he was meant to be a Collector.
Lyra turned the hologram to reveal a new image. Logos of famous teams appeared, and names echoed in Ren's mind: The Azure Ghosts, The Specters of the Vortex, The Electric Titans. Prestigious sponsors also flashed on the screen, including Nexus-X, the largest exoskeleton manufacturer, Titan Industries, and Omega Corp. These technological giants were behind the equipment and innovations used in Hyper Dash.
"Sponsors are essential," Lyra explained with a stern look.
"Not only do they provide the technology, but they also influence strategy. Some teams are sponsored by giants like Nexus-X or Omega Corp, and their equipment comes with special features that can make the difference between victory and defeat. But never forget: the equipment isn't everything. It's how you use it that matters."
She paused before continuing.
"Teams that qualify for the World Series will be sponsored by global brands. These sponsors will offer lucrative contracts to your teammates and to you. But it will all depend on your performance on the field."
The words echoed in Ren's mind. A lucrative contract? That meant not only recognition but also the possibility of escaping the poverty he had grown up in. He looked at the faces of the other Dashers. Each had a spark of determination in their eyes, but also some nervousness. The team would be crucial.

At the end of the conference, Lyra nodded, and the other team members approached. Ren turned to them and finally took the time to observe them closely. To his right, a tall, imposing man with dark skin and piercing eyes stepped forward. He wore a matte black exoskeleton, looking sturdy and robust. His name was Zane, the Guardian of the team.
"Ren, right?" Zane asked in a deep voice.
"You'll have to protect your crystal, and your role will be crucial. But don't worry, we'll help you improve. I've seen your skills, so don't stress too much."
Ren nodded, surprised by his frankness, but also by the approval in his words.
Next to Zane, a young, slender, and fast woman with short hair and bright eyes smiled.
"I'm Mira, the Sighter. I hope we can count on you for the collections. But remember, it all depends on the chemistry between us three. If we can understand each other, we'll go far."
She extended her hand, and Ren shook it with a shy smile.
Another team member, a young man with long hair and delicate features, approached as well.
"Darren," he said with a smile.
"I'm one of the Collectors. We'll need to form a killer duo. So let's make sure we're in sync."
Ren suddenly felt included in this team. He was no longer alone, no longer just a dreamer. He was now part of a whole. And he knew that the adventure was just beginning...
