Log 715

Our departure has been delayed once again after another supply ship sank. Fortunately for us, it sank close to shore, allowing some of its cargo to wash up. We're no longer starving, but food remains scarce.
A new problem has emerged. Some of the other scientists have started experiencing hallucinations and visions of ice mountains in the distance, calling to them. They stare at the horizon for hours, whispering under their breath, as if in a trance.
Apart from that, everything has been fine.

We have lost contact with the outside world. It happened five days ago, in the middle of a conversation with my kids. The transmission cut off abruptly. Before that, they had been talking nonsense about blue ghosts flying around. My wife told me they were probably coping with grief, trying to make sense of the world after losing their friends. I wanted to believe her.
As for our situation, we think a tectonic shift triggered an intense magnetic EMP, frying all communications at the base.
That alone would be bad enough, but the hallucinations have become worse. More frequent. More intense. We've had to lock people up to stop them from wandering off toward the mountains.
I'm scared not just for them, but for myself. I've started hearing things.
It began as an unintelligible whisper while I tried to sleep. I dismissed it at first, but as the nights passed, it grew clearer. Last night, I finally understood what it was saying.
"Daddy... Daddy, come play. It's really fun!"
It was my daughter's voice.

Something terrifying just happened.
Everyone is gone.
I woke up this morning to complete silence. Every room is empty. I checked the corridors, the labs, the storage there's no one left. I know where they went. The mountains. They must have gone there.
But that isn't the terrifying part.
Look at this picture.
There are no mountains.
