Chapter 2: A New World Awakened
Alex stood at the front door of his house, staring at the vibrant world outside. The air seemed charged with energy, and everything felt sharper, more alive. With his newly awakened 'Infinite Physique,' Alex couldn't suppress the curiosity bubbling inside him. He needed to see how others had fared in this strange, transformative event.
Clad in his school uniform, he decided to head to the academy—a place that was sure to be buzzing with news of the awakening. As Alex walked down the streets, he saw people testing their newfound abilities. Some were lifting cars with ease, others conjuring small bursts of fire or water. It was chaos, but it was also thrilling.
The journey to the school was surreal. Buildings that once looked mundane now seemed to hum faintly with energy, as if they, too, had absorbed some of Earth's spiritual awakening. Finally, Alex reached the gates of Greenfield High, and the scene before him was just as he expected—pandemonium.
Students gathered in groups, some comparing their awakened physiques, others testing their strength by breaking bricks or sprinting at incredible speeds. There was an air of excitement, mixed with jealousy and apprehension.
"Alex!"
He turned to see a familiar face sprinting toward him—his best friend, Max Carter. Max was grinning from ear to ear, his eyes practically glowing with excitement.
"Max! Looks like you've awakened too," Alex said, clapping his friend on the shoulder.
"You bet I did! Check this out!" Max opened his system interface, projecting a glowing holographic screen in midair.
---
Name: Max Carter
Physique: Diamond Body (Earth)
Grade: Diamond
Attributes:
STR: 25
DEF: 36
DEX: 15
MP: 23
---
Alex whistled in admiration. "Diamond tier? That's insane, Max! You're going to be unstoppable."
Max puffed out his chest proudly. "Not just me. A few other students awakened Gold physiques, but most are stuck at Iron or Bronze. I'm already miles ahead of them!"
As they walked further into the schoolyard, Max continued explaining what he'd learned. "Apparently, the tier of your physique determines how much spiritual energy you can absorb and how fast you can grow. Diamond is one of the highest known levels. With my 'Diamond Body,' my defense and strength are already top-notch."
"Sounds like you've got it all figured out," Alex said with a smile, though he refrained from revealing his own abilities just yet.
---
Inside the school building, the atmosphere was even more intense. Students were gathered in classrooms, hallways, and even the gym, discussing their attributes and testing their abilities.
"Did you hear? Jessica awakened a Bronze physique,"The wind chaser" but her dexterity is crazy high!"
"Ethan's Iron tier, but his fire affinity makes up for it. He can actually throw fireballs!"
"Ugh, why am I stuck at Copper? This isn't fair!"
Amid the chatter, Alex noticed a group of students casting envious glances at Max. It was clear that his Diamond tier physique had made him a target of jealousy. One student, in particular, stepped forward—a boy named Ryan, known for his competitive nature.
"Well, well, Max. Congratulations on being a big shot," Ryan said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "But don't think you're the strongest around here. Gold physiques like mine can still give you a run for your money."
Max didn't back down. "Oh yeah? Let's see you try."
The tension between the two was palpable, and a crowd began to gather around them. Before things could escalate, Alex stepped in.
"Alright, that's enough. We just awakened these powers—do you really want to start a fight before we even understand them?" Alex's calm yet commanding voice diffused the situation.
Ryan scowled but backed off, muttering under his breath. Max gave Alex a grateful look. "Thanks, man. I didn't want to cause a scene."
---
The day continued with more discussions and discoveries. Teachers tried to regain control, but the awakening had turned everything upside down. By lunchtime, Alex and Max found a quiet spot under a tree to sit and talk.
"So, Alex," Max began, "what's your physique? You've been awfully quiet about it."
Alex hesitated for a moment. He trusted Max, but he wasn't sure how people would react to his unique abilities. Finally, he decided to be honest.
"I haven't opened my system interface yet," Alex lied, scratching the back of his head. "I guess I'm just nervous."
Max laughed. "Nervous? Come on, man, you've got nothing to worry about. Even if it's Iron or Bronze, you can still train and grow stronger."
Alex nodded, though he knew his truth was far beyond what Max could imagine.
---
As the school day ended, Alex decided it was time to test his abilities in private. He made his way to an abandoned lot behind the school, ensuring no one was around to see him. Taking a deep breath, he focused inward, and a glowing blue screen appeared before him.
---
Name: Alex Johnson
Physique: Infinite Physique
Grade: Infinite ♾
Attributes:
STR: 100
DEF: 100
DEX: 100
MP: ♾
Technique: Infinite Modus Operandi
---
Alex stared at the interface, his heart pounding. The numbers were unbelievable, far beyond anything he'd seen from Max or anyone else. But it wasn't just the attributes that caught his attention—it was the infinite symbol next to his grade and MP.
"What does this even mean?" he muttered to himself.
He decided to test his strength first. Spotting a large metal beam nearby, he approached it and gripped it tightly. With hardly any effort, he lifted it into the air, the metal groaning under its own weight.
"Whoa..." Alex whispered, setting the beam down gently. Next, he tested his speed, sprinting across the lot. The world blurred around him as he moved at an inhuman pace, stopping only when he realized he'd crossed the entire lot in less than a second.
It was exhilarating—and terrifying. Alex had always been an average student, never standing out in sports or academics. But now, he was something else entirely.
As he stood there, catching his breath, a thought occurred to him. If others found out about his abilities, how would they react? The jealousy Max faced for being a Diamond tier was nothing compared to what Alex might experience. He needed to be careful, at least for now.
"I'll keep this a secret," he decided. "At least until I understand it better."
---
As Alex walked home, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was just the beginning. The world had changed overnight, and with it came new opportunities—and new dangers.
But one thing was certain: with the 'Infinite Physique,' Alex was destined to stand at the top.
And he would do whatever it took to protect the people he cared about in this awakened world.
