Chapter 4 - Side task

The sky was blood-colored, and the sun looked like a bleeding wound on the horizon. There was no place for humans anymore. The magical creatures had taken the entire reins of control, and the earth had turned into a battlefield for magic and superpowers

These creatures were powerful and overwhelming, living in every corner of the world, from dense forests to barren deserts. It took control of everything, and the ancient cities of humans turned into ruins, turning them into stadiums for magical beasts. Her magical powers made her undisputed dominant. Humans, who were once masters of Earth, were now just easy prey to these majestic beings.

Humans were living in darkness, moving between caves and abandoned tunnels. There are no longer large human communities, but humans have been divided into small groups trying to survive. They depended on the leftovers and contaminated water, and every day they struggled to survive.

The dark days went on, and when that happens there will be a class hiding from him and a class looking for light, between those for the dark caves where humans live hidden, a brave group decided to take the bold step to face the greatest danger. Rumor had it that the King of Beasts, the Great Dragon, dwelled at the top of the Chaos Mountain, the source of all the disasters that befell humanity.

The group gathered in the darkness, their eyes gleaming with hope and risk. They talked about plans and strategies, but more importantly, they knew that this trip might be their last trip. There was no room for retreat, they had to recover their world from the clutches of monsters.

The group set off at dawn, their long journey towards the Chaos Mountain began. The early days of the trip were full of difficulties, as they moved through dense forests and rugged mountain corridors. Nature itself seemed to oppose their endeavor, the wind storms them and the rain sinks their paths.

As they advanced on the journey, magical creatures began to attack them from every side. The battles were intense and the blood was shining, and the group began to shrink little by little. The members fell one by one, victims of magical beasts and cruel nature. But the group didn't stop, they had one goal: to reach the top of the mountain and kill the dragon.

Few of them remained, but the challenges were not over. The mountain itself held unimaginable secrets and dangers. The rocks were splitting beneath their feet, and the mountain walls pulsed with a terrifying magic card. They knew that every move might be the last one, but they didn't lose hope.

At the end of the trip they arrived for the summit... But only one individual remained from the group.

The sky was wearing a dress of darkness, and the wind was cruelly fanning the Chaos Mountain. The mountain rises above the ground as a perched giant, shrouded in mystery and horror. There, at the top of the top, the only person left of the group stood up, his body thickened with wounds and his eyes shining with exhaustion and despair.

In front of this exhausted young man, the great dragon stood up, the gleam of his red eyes radiating like a embers in the dark. His enormous body covers the horizon, and his elongated wings arouse terror in the heart. The dragon was looking at the hero with a gaze full of transcendence and evil, as if mocking his desperate attempt.

The hero felt the weight of wounds and exhaustion pull him down, as if his body no longer held his energy. Black thoughts were sneaking into his mind, whispering that everything was over, and it was useless to resist.

The young man stood up and shouted in an intermittent voice: "Is this the fate you chose for us To live as a prey for you and your likes ".

The dragon replied with a deep, earth-shaking voice: "You humans are weak and fragile. What drives you to continue with this losing battle Surrender and be part of my system, I will make you part of the invincible power."

The dragon looked at the young man with a deep and calm look, as if all the wisdom of the ages combined in his eyes. "You humans are weak in front of the forces of the universe. You strive to control what you don't understand, and you walk a path that goes against your innate nature. Why don't you accept your weakness and learn from the wisdom of the times ".

The hero sank into despair further, and muttered, "We don't have another choice. We live in fear and hunger, and we lose hope day by day. How can we accept this fate ".

The dragon approached with a step, his narrowed eyes carefully meditating on him. "You intend to fight me despite this miserable state of yours You think fragile human hope can stand up to my absolute strength "

The hero hesitated for a moment, but the glimmer of hope in his eyes did not disappear. "Yeah, I'll fight you to the end. Because hope is all that's left for us, and we won't let it go out."

The dragon shot a roar of magic fire, as if to acknowledge the hero's determination. And he said: "I will give you a chance, humans, a chance to survive and turn the scales, what do you think "

The hero looked into the dragon's eyes, and despite the fear that was running through his veins, he nodded, saying, "I accept this, no matter what."

.....

"Hey Adorad stop telling kids stories and let's eat"

"Don't you know a story other than this ...we save it since we were born no need to complete it"

"Don't be mad at him, Edward, he's just trying to pass the time."

Klaus's body shook in anger, whenever he tries to comfort us with a story that finds this incessant grumbling, we are an apparently picky audience.

"Screw you, I won't speak to you again." He raises his glasses, usually doing them when he doesn't mean his words.

We sit down to eat the food that the guards brought for us, just bread and salt. What were you expecting the slaves food to be

Strong aggressive Edward, intelligent snobby Klaus, insightful reckless Theodore, beloved coward Oliver, attractive united Taros... And I'm white.

What a terrible combination! Despite all this we are together as one family.both in the orphanage and the dungeon we would not have imagined living apart.. Unfortunately I don't think it's dangerous for one of us. The idea of us dying together too!

Years ago there are old stones in the wall that look corroded, probably as a result of humidity and time. We started thinking about how to exploit this weakness to escape. And actually after a painstaking effort, we were able to open a small opening in the wall. The hole was enough to pass my slim body through. I slowly crawled through the opening, walking out to the dark corridor on the other side of the wall.To find out it's a back lane that the guards don't use much.

Later we discovered the impossibility of our escape due to the location of the palace in the middle of the mountains and the forest, just we canceled the plan amid we waited for the end of the ritual, of course we take advantage of the opening to steal the food of the guards and wash it from time to time.

But one night. While I'm out, I stopped meditating Gusu's room, that damn magician. "If only I could kill him I sighed out of my stupid imagination. Before I went back to the dungeon, I heard voices coming from inside holding a secret tone, which aroused my curiosity. I decided to sneak near the door quietly and eavesdrop on the conversation going on between the two people inside.

I slowly leaned over and put my ear near the small opening in the door. Caution would have required me to stay completely constant, so that I wouldn't make any sound alerting them to my presence.Of course if Gusu had a magical way of knowing my existence to expose me years ago, so I didn't care.

"We have to be very careful this time," the first voice said in a worried tone. "Any little mistake might reveal our entire plan."

It's Tyrion's voice! Guard Captain.

The second voice replied confidently: "Don't worry, I have made sure of all the details. The leader will be happy with the final result, we just have to wait for the Red Moon to appear"

I imagined Gusu and him reaching out on his black beard and completing his speech.

"That night we're going to complete the ritual of 'the arose' and sacrifice those luminaries to turn Liana into a witch as the leader wishes"

My team swallowed hard. Sacrifice us . And we were waiting that the ritual would end with a farewell party and return to our damned life, oh our naivety!, I knew that the time was tight and I had to move quickly. There was no room for hesitation, I had to use these to my advantage and escape. I didn't think about the rest and that's how I ended up in the mountain and if I had completely forgotten that surviving there is impossible and the rest of the story you know.

While I'm eating, I'm thinking of a plan to escape from here. I haven't told the rest yet and I don't want to stir up an unnecessary confusion before finding a clear solution.

"Escape is impossible, the place is secluded and the monsters will kill us before reaching the nearest village."

"Maybe we'll steal a winged horse! This is how the leader arrives every time here to inspect the situations.. But not a single critique before! Is it like driving a bike in my world "

While I'm overwhelmed with all the possibilities and possibilities, some of them sound good before I find out it's a failure, some of them are hopeless and embarrassing. Thinking of them originally. I hear a notification sound from the system!
