"No! God, please... No!" Elena muttered as she found her voice.
"I need to go and check." She said and hastily grabbed one of the car keys.
"Mrs. Morrison, I don't think it is safe for you to go alone, it is late already." Lana pointed out, her voice persuading.
"I have to. I need to know if he is okay." Elena said, her voice trembling. Lana sighed deeply as she realized she wouldn't be able to convince the woman, then tried another approach.
"At least let me call the driver to—"
"No! I can't wait. I need to go now." Elena cut her off sharply.
"You don't even like driving at night... And you are not in the right---" Lana was protesting but Elena was already rushing out of the house.
She watched helplessly as Elena rushed out of the house. She stood there for a moment, biting her lip.
"Please be safe…" Lana mumbled.
Elena hurried to the driveway, with her heart threatening to jump out of her chest. Without a second thought, she slid into the driver's seat of one of the exotic cars and started the engine.
She barely noticed the lightning and flashes of rain as she sped out of the driveway.
"Please, God... Please, don't let Adrian be on that plane." She whispered, her hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.
"He can't be… He said he would come home. He promised." She said, swallowing hard.
"Let me try his number again..." She said and her fingers fumbled with her phone as she tried to keep her eyes on the road.
She dialed Adrian's number again. As it had been, it rang but there was no answer.
"Adrian… pick up! Please pick up and tell me that you are alright." She cried, her voice shaking.
In desperation, her eyes darted to the phone screen, completely leaving the road where it should be, as she wished the number would connect.
And within a blink of an eye, it happened.
Crash!
The car jolted violently. Elena's body lurched forward, the seatbelt yanking her back.
"No!!!"
She screamed and that was the last thing she knew before losing her consciousness.

Meanwhile, as Elena was slipping into unconsciousness, at another part of the city; laughter filled the air in a cozy apartment.
Amelia sat across from Adrian at the dining table, her eyes gleaming with excitement.
"I can't believe you stayed with me for an entire week..." She said, her voice soft and sweet.
"Of course. I have my ways. I told you, you don't have any problem getting my attention." Adrian said with a grin, leaning back in his chair.
Amelia reached for his hand, squeezing it gently.
"Yeah, now I know better. And just so you know, I enjoyed every bit of our time together. And now, I am starting to miss you because you are supposed to go back today..." She said softly.
"I know." He chuckled.
"And I am going to miss you too." He added and Amelia heaved a sigh.
"I wish…" She hesitated, her smile fading.
"I wish you didn't have to leave at all. I wish I could be with you in your house. As your real wife." She stated.
Adrian sighed, pulling his hand away.
"Babe, give me time. I'm working on it." He assured her. That statement however didn't sit well with the woman and she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.
"Time? What is stopping you? What does she have on you, by the way?" Amelia questioned, her eyes narrowing on him.
Adrian ran a hand through his hair, exhaling slowly.
"It is not that simple. We have kids, Amelia." He replied.
She rolled her eyes.
"Did I not know that? I have told you before. Bring them here. I will take them as my own. I will be their mother." She maintained firmly. Adrian nodded.
"I remember, I haven't forgotten. But I need to be careful. If I rush things, Elena could fight for custody. I can't let that happen, you know?" He pointed out.
Amelia leaned back, folding her arms.
"So, what is your plan?" She inquired.
"You don't worry about that, babe. I'm putting things in place. I just need to make sure Elena has nothing to use against me." He said, confidently.
Amelia's expression softened.
"Okay, I will trust you on that. Because I love you too much..." She said.
He smiled, leaning in to kiss her.
At that moment, Adrian's phone began to ring on the table.
Amelia pulled back, heaving a disappointed sigh.
"Let me guess. Her again?" She asked, referring to Adrian's wife, Elena.
"Probably." Adrian mumbled, barely glancing at the screen then pressed the ignore button.
"She doesn't know when to give up." Amelia muttered, hissing under her breath.
"She will get the message eventually." Adrian said and laughed.
Then the phone rang again.
This time, Adrian frowned and picked it up. He accepted the call when he realized It wasn't Elena.
"Hello?" He answered the call.
"Mr. Morrison, it's Thomas, from the mansion." The voice on the other end said, shaky and urgent.
"What is wrong?" Adrian asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
"It's your wife, sir. Mrs. Morrison… she has been in an accident. We just got a call that she is at the hospital." Thomas informed him.
Adrian's mouth fell open in shock.
"Where the heck was she going to land herself in that kind of mess?" He mumbled in annoyance under his breath.
"Sir? Are you there?" Thomas's voice rang out from the other end, urgently.
Adrian swallowed hard before speaking up.
"So, what do you want me to do? Don't you know I am supposed to be at my business trip?" He asked the caller.
"Y.. Yes sir, but I feel you should know about..." Thomas stuttered, getting thrown off balance by the question.
"Well, now, I have known about it. When I get back from my trip, I will go to the hospital. You should go and stay with her there." Adrian said and
hung up before Thomas could utter another word.
"Sir, I heard that she is losing..." Thomas began but the call had already ended.
