Elena's POV
The air had turned colder as evening fell, and the distant rustling of the trees outside her cottage echoed through the walls. Elena sat at her table, still absorbing the weight of Caleb's words. They were in this together, but the more she learned, the more uncertain everything felt. The knowledge from the book, the cryptic warnings from the mysterious man at the library—it was all too much, and yet it wasn't enough.
Her fingers brushed over the edge of the old leather-bound tome she had found, the sensation of its pages lingering in her mind. The Lunar Bond. The binding of human and wolf, a force beyond her comprehension, but one that was now a part of her reality.
The bond was a connection, yes. But it was more than that—it was a legacy, a responsibility, a power that had been tied to Caleb for longer than either of them could imagine.
A knock at the door startled her from her thoughts. She stood up quickly, her heart skipping a beat. She hadn't expected anyone, least of all Caleb, after their conversation earlier. The door creaked as she opened it, and standing in front of her was the last person she expected to see.
"Victor," she breathed, instinctively taking a step back.
He smiled, though there was little warmth in his expression. "I think it's time we had a little chat, don't you?"

Victor's Entrance
Elena's heart raced, the familiar sense of danger returning. Victor's presence was overwhelming—unlike Caleb's, whose intensity was rooted in protection and loyalty, Victor exuded an aura of control and manipulation. His eyes locked onto hers, cold and calculating.
"What do you want, Victor?" Elena managed, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her.
He leaned casually against the doorframe, arms crossed, his expression amused. "What I want isn't important right now, Elena. What you want is."
Elena's brow furrowed. "What are you talking about?"
Victor stepped into the cottage without waiting for an invitation, his gaze scanning the room, his steps slow and deliberate. "You're caught between two worlds, Elena. The human world, and the one that Caleb represents. That bond between you two is more than a mere connection—it's a doorway to power, to control."
Her chest tightened. "What do you mean by that?" she demanded, her voice rising slightly.
Victor's lips curled into a smirk, as if he were savoring the confusion and fear he was planting. "You don't see it yet, but you will. Caleb may try to protect you, but you need to understand—he doesn't have the power to shield you from everything. Not anymore."
She stepped back, feeling the weight of his words settle in her chest. "You're lying," she said, though her voice wavered.
"No," Victor replied, his voice soft, almost coaxing. "I'm offering you the truth. You can't keep running from it, Elena. And neither can Caleb. If you want to truly be free of this, to sever the bond, you'll have to make a choice." His eyes gleamed. "You'll have to choose me."
Elena's breath caught in her throat. The words felt like a trap, a dangerous allure that tugged at the edges of her resolve. But before she could respond, a voice, filled with fury and warning, interrupted.
"Stay away from her, Victor."

Caleb's POV
The instant Caleb had caught Elena's scent from the woods, he knew something was wrong. The air was thick with the stench of danger, and as he made his way through the forest, his heart thundered in his chest. He had warned her, told her to be careful, but she had insisted on doing things her way.
Now, he was paying the price.
By the time he reached the edge of the woods and spotted her cottage in the distance, his heart was in his throat. He ran the rest of the way, not caring who saw him or what time it was. The danger he'd feared had finally arrived.
Bursting through the door, Caleb's golden eyes immediately locked on Victor, who stood in front of Elena with a devilish grin on his face.
"Stay away from her, Victor," Caleb growled, his voice low and filled with danger.
Victor's gaze flicked over to Caleb, and for the briefest moment, Caleb saw a flash of amusement in the rogue's eyes. "Ah, Caleb. Always the protector. But it's too late for that now."
Elena's eyes darted between them, confusion and fear flickering across her face. "Caleb, what's happening? What is he talking about?"
Victor's smile widened. "She's starting to understand, Caleb. The bond you share—it's not just a connection. It's a curse. A tether that binds you both. You can't run from it. You can't escape it." He turned his full attention to Elena. "But you don't have to stay in this cage. I can offer you freedom, power—everything you've ever wanted."
Elena shook her head, but her voice trembled as she spoke. "I don't want anything from you, Victor. I just want to understand what's going on."
Victor chuckled darkly. "Then listen closely, because this is your last chance, Elena. The power you hold isn't just your own. It's the key to everything. With me, you could have it all. You could sever that bond with Caleb and make the world bend to your will."
Caleb's heart lurched, and he stepped forward, blocking Elena's line of sight. "Don't listen to him, Elena. He's manipulating you. All he wants is control."
Elena looked between them, her expression torn. "I don't know who to believe anymore."
Victor's smile turned cruel. "Believe me, Elena. Caleb doesn't have the answers. He's just trying to protect you from what you really are. But I can show you the truth."

Elena's Inner Conflict
Elena felt a chill spread through her as Victor's words sunk in. Part of her wanted to run—to break free from the pressure of the bond and the confusion swirling around her. But another part of her felt drawn to Caleb, to the strength he had shown in the face of danger, to the promise he had made to protect her.
"You don't have to choose him," Victor said, his voice like silk. "All I'm offering is freedom from this curse. No more hiding. No more fear."
But Elena's heart pounded as she stared at Caleb, who had already taken a step toward her, his eyes filled with an unspoken plea. "Elena," he whispered. "Don't listen to him. You're stronger than this."
Elena felt the weight of the choice pressing down on her, the pull of the bond making her feel as though she were being torn in two. One side of her wanted to believe Victor—that there was a way to break free, to escape the constraints of the bond. But the other side, the part of her that felt Caleb's unwavering presence and love, told her that breaking the bond would mean losing everything she had come to care about.
"I—I don't know what to do," Elena said softly, the words a whisper of surrender.
Caleb stepped closer, his voice steady. "I know it's hard, but I'll be here, no matter what. The bond may be powerful, but it's not unbreakable. Together, we can figure this out. You're not alone in this, Elena."
Victor's smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered. "Don't let him fool you, Elena. You're not just some innocent bystander in this fight. You're the key. And if you choose him, you'll be choosing to stay in the dark."
The tension in the room thickened, and Elena's chest tightened. It felt like the world was closing in on her, the weight of destiny pressing down on her. She was the center of it all—the bond, the power, the choice. But where would it lead her?
She finally took a deep breath, looking Caleb in the eyes. "I choose you, Caleb. I choose this bond."
