Kiana Kaslana always thought her luck was kinda trash.
She lost her memories from before the age of 8, and then her dad went poof.
But, those harsh realities never broke her! For her, a little thing like that can't crush an optimistic Kaslana!
With her physique and abilities, even if she had to fight stray cats and dogs for the leftover baguettes in the trash, it wouldn't be too difficult for her.
However, today...
The girl started to question her entire worldview.
Standing before her was an unkillable, impossible-to-destroy...
Monster.
Like rotten meat, like a plant, like an arthropod, like a tentacle, like inorganic salt, like...a human mouth...
"I've explained multiple times that I'm a human, why do you keep shooting at me?"
Behind the transparent, slimy body, newly constructed eyeballs rotated 360 degrees thanks to the body's transparency.
Kiana Kaslana could see the pupils, glowing with a strange blue light, fixed on her.
And right now, not a single muscle in her body would respond to her commands.
It was as if her body had been separated from her, like she was watching the 'monster' from a god-like perspective.
"I'm a human from 130,000 years in the future. We barely managed to evolve mouthparts and light-sensing organs. My dear earth... why are you still using such outdated biological organs to perceive the world? If you're going to use photosensitive organs, at least learn from pigeons and sense more than five spectral bands."
"My bad, my bad..."
"I haven't adjusted my consciousness yet. Just a sec, just a sec, I'll be fine soon."
"Don't worry, you and I are both humans. I wouldn't do anything bad to you. I just wanted to have a nice chat with the first 'ancient' I've met, but you immediately attacked me with an internal energy weapon... How awful."
The monster left behind a trail of strange slime wherever it crawled.
Kiana didn't know if her sense of smell was broken, but she thought the weird slime vaguely emitted a pleasant aroma.
'What part of you even looks human!?'
Kiana roared internally, wishing she could just jump up and learn to fly on the spot, or at the very least, open a couple of portals to get her out of this hellhole.
In Kiana's eyes, this monster was like a Lovecraftian horror straight out of a novel.
'It's' body was a constantly shifting mess of organic and inorganic matter, like it was endlessly crystallizing and melting those crystals back into itself.
While 'it' was talking, several more eyeballs spawned inside of its body.
It made Kiana's scalp crawl, and she just wanted to pass out already. She was just a teenager, why did she have to experience such a terrifying scene?
Even the Honkai beasts looked better and more stylish than this thing.
A slimy tentacle wrapped around her leg and began to crawl upwards.
Kiana slumped against the wall, not even feeling the bone-chilling cold of the winter wall.
She watched helplessly as the tentacle growing from the monster transformed into a bizarre syringe-like thing.
"Don't worry, I just want to find someone like me."
"Oh, and please don't misunderstand. This is my only evolution serum."
The monster enveloped her body, moving her to the ground and securing her in place.
'NO——!'
'Somebody help me!'
'Dad——!'
'Some...some...'
Her sky-blue eyes were dull and lifeless. No matter how dramatic her internal monologue, there was no stopping the monster in front of her.
No one was here to find her, and no one was going to save her. She was like a piece of trash carelessly discarded.
The tentacle pierced her spinal cord
Kiana Kaslana felt like she was being changed by something, yet she couldn't feel any fear from this change. It was as if she had entered paradise for that brief moment.
There was a holy place, an unseen and intangible presence gently caressing her, looking down at her...
'That's so weird, why can't I see it, yet I can still feel its presence?'
In that instant, the girl finally realized that her body could move.
The moment she had the thought to move, her entire body transformed in a flash.
Melting down, like a slime, she transformed into a being exactly like the monster before her.
Pale blue eyeballs rolled within her transparent, crystalline body. As inorganic and organic matter shifted, Kiana saw the 'memories' that the other being was conveying.
Were those memories?
[Subject 03, return to the past]
[Annihilate human reproductive-ism]
[Change history]
[This is a desperate gamble from the future]
However...
Whether it was her imagination or not, Kiana noticed that something felt off in the monster's memories.
In that history, there were no so-called Honkai beasts, and not even the existence of Honkai itself.
She moved her body slightly, realizing that things were spiraling in a terrifying and irreversible direction.
Kiana even wondered if her memories had been altered.
"Awesome, the evolution serum actually worked!"
Now, it wasn't just one monster, but two identical monsters writhing together, like two lumps of flesh muddled into one.
She could hear the other being's joyful cheers, and she also saw her own completely inhuman appearance.
A sense of dullness washed over her brain... or was it?...
Wait, hold on...
Did she even still have a brain in a physiological sense?
Yes, Subject 03 had preserved it for her.
Kiana couldn't discern what the world looked like anymore. She wasn't just seeing common light like humans do.
She could also see magnetic fields, radiation waves, material structures, reverse dust particle movements…
She could see everything she understood, and even things she didn't could be 'seen'.
Finally, her inadequate cerebellum reached a conclusion.
She, Kiana Kaslana, had been transformed into a human from 130,000 years in the future by a being who claimed to be from 130,000 years in the future.
And this future human's form, in the eyes of present-day humans, was no different from a legendary eldritch horror.
A tentacle waved within Kiana's sensory range.
'You call this evolution?'
'Uh...'
'I'm not cold anymore, and I have greater physical abilities. My senses are so strong that I can perceive things I don't even recognize. I can choose whether or not to control my emotions and pleasure senses.'
'Why do I know terms that I shouldn't know?'
Kiana Kaslana started to doubt her world.
'Is this what humans will be like in the future?!'
'What the heck did you future peeps do?'
She began to question whether it was even necessary to keep fighting those Honkai beasts.
She was tired; she just wanted it all to end. Time for the world to just go boom already.
