"When did you get here?" she asked.
"Just in time to see you saying goodbye to your old flame," he replied nonchalantly, walking toward the apartment building.
Her heart had already chilled at his presence, but hearing no anger in his voice, she sighed in relief.
He usually opposed her meeting Jasper privately, yet he was surprisingly "friendly this time."
Silently, she followed him into the elevator and up to the apartment, neither of them speaking a word.
It wasn't until he emerged from the room, looking dashing in his iron-gray suit, that she realized he had come by only to change clothes.
As she moved to straighten his tie, he said, "You might want to start wearing looser clothes; it's better for the baby's development."
She glanced down at herself, noting her belly wasn't showing yet, and replied, "I know what I'm doing."
He said nothing more and left the apartment.
